A Mixed Bunch Thanks

January 25, 2012 under Cards, Sale-a-Bration

See, I told you I was back and blogging… this is 2 days in a row! hee hee

Well, between the holidays (and being way behind on my thank you cards) and just being so grateful for my customers, downline, and online crafting friends who have been amazingly supportive while I’ve been dealing with a new baby instead of posting.  So, I have “Thanks” on the brain.

This time, I pulled out a couple more fun new stamps.  First, the Mixed Bunch stamp set from the Occasion mini – and of course, it’s matching blossom punch!  Then for the sentiment I used the FREE Outlined Occasions stamp set from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.

Its been crazy with snow and freezing weather here in Seattle, so I needed a bright and cheery card right now.  I think this fits the bill nicely!  Plus it can be very relaxing to just sit and color in an image (in this case the “Thanks” using my blender pens and inks).

So, check out an example of why Sale-a-Bration is so cool:

January 24, 2012 under Cards, Sale-a-Bration

Celebrate good times, come on! “

… that is totally the song going through my head right now as I typed the title for this post.  But the perky tune matches my smile and mood as I’m so excited to be re-kicking off my blog (including a new blog design!) and sharing the first of many projects I’ve been working on lately.

Also, I absolutely LOVE Sale-a-Bration time at Stampin’ Up! because who doesn’t love getting extra free stuff?

Wanna see what I did with some of my free stuff? I used the new Fresh Vintage Sale-a-Bration stamp set and matching ribbon, along with one of my favorite new items in the Occasions Miniframelits!

This is actually a pretty quick card to make aside from the coloring of the stamp with markers.  But I think all the colors are worth it – don’t you agree?

This year there are a ton of fabulous products and amazing incentives during Sale-a-Bration:

  • Get FREE exclusive items for every $50 you spend! There are stamps, cardstock, designer paper, fabric, digital designs, buttons, ribbon, and even embossing folders to choose from.

How Big Is Your Wish List?

March 30, 2011 under Promotions, Sale-a-Bration

There are only 2 days left of Sale-a-Bration!  And while this promotion is great for getting all kinds of freebies with every $50 you order, if you are finding your wishlist is a little bit bigger than that or you love the idea of getting a discount on every order you place – its an even better time to see what its like on the other side of the fence as a demonstrator.

Did you know that the starter kit has over $310 worth of products and supplies for only $175?

But through Thursday you can get it for 15% off PLUS bonus product bundle worth $50.  So that means you would get $360 worth of products for $149 and free shipping!

And, as a demonstrator you get a number of other benefits and the best part is, you don’t have to be a salesperson to enjoy them!  Its true!  There is no obligation to sell or purchase anything.

So if you are interested in earning extra money each month or just getting a discount on everything you buy, I’d love to have you join my team of demonstrators.  We are a fun group who share ideas, support, and friendship across the US.

Using Ice Cream Parlor Quick Accents for Scrapbooking

March 28, 2011 under Sale-a-Bration, scrapbooking

So, here is my story, to which I think a number of you can relate.  Smile

Many months ago, I printed out a ton of pictures of my son because I was going to create a baby album for him.  I have a stack of at least 40 pictures from his first month alone, plus baby shower pictures and maternity pictures.  I even went so far as to figure out how to layout about 6 pages of these pictures a while back (though do I have any idea what those layouts were at this point? Nope!) but then the pictures went back into the stack.  And there they still sit…in a stack…on a shelf.

But I had an epiphany today!  I was avoiding scrapping those pictures because, aside from being busy, I was wanting to make “the just right” layout with the images including the perfect paper, embellishments, etc.  But I realized, its way more important to get the information written down and the pictures in a place they might actually be looked at, then having the perfect layout.  Especially in this world of digital photography, just put some layout together and you can always print the pictures again if you want to make it "perfect” later!

So, with that in mind, I put together this layout yesterday afternoon during Nicholas’ nap.  I was challenging myself to use the Ice Cream Parlor Designer Paper and Quick Accent die cut stickers in a layout and I actually think they turned out rather well!

With the exception of some cardstock and the BigShot Alphabet dies, everything comes from the Ice Cream Parlor Designer Paper and Quick Accents bundle from the Sale-a-bration catalog.  Because the quick accents are stickers, it made it really easy to put this page together!  There are still a few days left to earn them with your order or enter my color challenge and you’ll have a chance to win some Quick Accents to play with.

Now, if only I dare to pull down my wedding pictures from 10 years ago and get started with them too… I guess one step at a time!

February Make-and-Take: A Sale-a-Bration Thanks

February 12, 2011 under Cards, Sale-a-Bration

Last night was my February meet & greet with my local Bay Area Card Makers meetup group.  We had a fun night of socializing and, of course, card making!  I always bring a free project for everyone to make, and after receiving some new Sale-a-Bration items recently, I knew I wanted to get those out to play.  So, I grabbed the new So Happy For You stamp set and the Ice Cream Parlor ribbon (check them out in the 2011 SAB catalog) and out popped this card:

I had seen a card made by AlyStamps and loved how the thanks from the So Happy For You stamp layered using the small oval and large oval punches.  I’ve also been obsessed with spectrum style cards right now, so I put them together.  The card is actually very fast to put together because the squares of cardstock are punched out using the 1-1/4” square punch.  We then stamped those squares using Versamark ink, so we could get the tone-on-tone look without having to switch back and forth between different ink pads.  So the only think you really have to cut is the base cardstock and the Early Espresso mat for the spectrum which I cut at 5-1/8” x 1-3/8”.

I love this stamp set, and will probably be playing with it a lot more in the future and the ribbon is super fun too (though I’m just dying over the buttons! love them!).  Get either set FREE with a $50 order, or get both with a $100 order!  Don’t you just love Sale-a-Bration time?

Check out the online store and pick your free goodies!

A Non-Traditional Valentine using Bliss

February 4, 2011 under Cards, Sale-a-Bration

I’m excited to be headed out this evening to meet up with a bunch of ladies and show them these Valentine and Love themed cards.  As I’ve been sharing this week, I’ve tried to bring a mix of your traditional Red/Pink love-based Valentine’s and some sweet sentiment but more subtle Valentine’s.  This is the last card we will be making and as you can see, it falls in to the latter category:

I tried to keep this version reasonably simple so that it (and the other 3 cards) could be completed in 1 – 1.5 hrs.  There are fun details that are hard to see in this picture like both the Whisper White piece and the cut out flower are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And I kind of want to make this card again only this time spritzing the Crumb Cake base with my new gold Smooch Spritz.  Wouldn’t that be sooo pretty?  Oooh, and embossing the Bliss sentiment with clear embossing powder!! Oh yeah, I’m totally making another version of this card. :)

Tip: When tying knots in ribbons on cards, I like to cut one length of ribbon that I only apply adhesive to the ends.  I wrap that around my piece of paper (in this case Concord Crush) so that it is tight to my paper.  Then, take a second piece of ribbon and slide it under your first piece and tie your knot from there.  That ensures your ribbon is on your card tightly and you get the added bonus of being able to slide your knot up and down the ribbon until you decide it is where you like it!

Anyway, all of the images are from the new Sale-a-Bration stamp set – Bliss which you can get free with any $50 order or by hosting a party with you and your friends (check it out on page 10 of the SAB catalog)

Ice Cream Parlor Quick Accents Card and Card Purse

January 26, 2011 under 3D projects, Cards, Sale-a-Bration

In a flurry of excitement, Sale-a-Bration has officially begun!  Of course you can earn free stamps, but I love that you get options for other items like the Ice Cream Parlor Designer Paper and Quick Accents.  I had gotten this paper pack during the preorder and the more I use it, the more I’ve now decided that I NEED the matching Ice Cream Parlor buttons and ribbon pack!

In the meantime, I thought I’d share a couple projects I’ve made using this paper and cardstock stickers.  First up, a super quick birthday card:

For this card, the striped designer paper, the Daffodil Delight scalloped border cardstock sticker, and the Peach Parfeit designer paper – all come as part of the Ice Cream Parlor DSP And Quick Accents Sale-a-Bration pack.  I just added some Early Espresso taffeta ribbon, cardstock, and a staple to finish out the card.  Seriously, this is a 5 minute card!

Next, I created a purse sized to hold a set of standard 4.25” x 5.5” cards and matching envelopes:

If you are on my mailing list, you should have received the full tutorial for this purse in your inbox yesterday.  If you didn’t, let me know!

Not on my mailing list yet? Sign up here.  I’ll even resend the copy of my email with this tutorial in it to folks who sign up in the next couple of days.

Over the next week I’ll be sharing more Sale-a-Bration creations, so I hope you stop by again and check them out!  Until then, happy stamping!
