  • Easter Bunny Punch Art Card

I finally participated in a sketch challenge, only to realize that I totally missed the deadline. :)  Oh, well.  I still LOVE my card I made.  I was so excited to be able to come up with a fun Easter card even though I had pretty much no Easter stamp sets.  What do you think?  Isn’t this bunny adorable?!

I made this card with my son in mind and had fun pulling papers, stamps, and punches to create an easy yet super fun Easter bunny card.  I had seen different cards out there using the Nursery Suite specialty designer paper for Easter because it has a couple patterns with bunnies on them. Let me tell you, that was one of those smacks to the forehead kind of moments! I was so fixated on this paper being “baby” paper that I didn’t even think about how it is so fabulous for so many other projects.  Just you watch, I’ll be pulling it out a lot more in the future.

Then I saw this punch art bunny on Jan Tink’s blog and knew I just HAD to make one myself!  So, I combined the paper, this bunny, and the Stamping 411 sketch from last week to make it.  So fun!

The bunny is made by punching 3 small ovals (one for the feet and two for the ears), one 1-1/4” circle for the body, one 1” circle for the head, and one small flower punch from the Punch Pack for the tail.

The ribbon is just a piece of Crumb Cake seam binding ribbon (have I told you how much the seam binding ribbon rocks?) that I folded in half and then knotted.

Make your own Easter bunny!  Get the supplies you need from the online store here, or grab the paper and punches you have and play around!  Have fun!

Don’t forget!  TODAY is the last day of my Tax-Free weekend!

  • Seeing Stars Graduation Card

I know it is a little early to be thinking about school graduations.  Though now that I think about it, I graduated college during the month of March, so I guess it might not be too early for some.  Anyways, I was asked to design a graduation card for a stamp camp last week and was posed the additional challenge that guests at the camp would be making cards for kids attending one of two schools.  So, that meant an unknown number of people would want a card in Navy and Orange while some other unknown amount of people would want Navy and Yellow!

Well, never one to back down from a challenge, I put my thinking cap on and designed a card that was based around the common Navy theme and then allowed the creator to switch out ink colors and punch outs in the appropriate accent color.  And it turned out even better than I expected. Smile

The star pattern on the Whisper White paper was hand stamped using the Seeing Stars stamp set; and so it was different on every card – which I loved.  We used Presto Patterns designer paper for the sponged paper on the bottom half of the card (and if you haven’t seen Presto Patterns yet, it is this super cool paper that is white with white glossy embossing, which means that you can spray/sponge/brayer whatever color you want on top and create your own custom paper!)

Then folks punched out their sentiment and coordinating shapes to finish it off.  Every card was totally different but that was perfect!  This way, even if two friends were given this card, they would still have their own personal and unique card.  And it was fun to make to boot!

I hope you enjoyed this early graduation idea and can see even more fun ways to tweak this design for Birthdays, Holidays, and more!

  • Forest Friends Shoebox Swap

Sorry for getting behind on my blog posting!  I started working on some Christmas presents that involved printing photos from this past year…which got me started pulling photos off of my camera, video camera, cell phone, husband’s cell phone, etc…and then I needed to organize those photos…you get the idea.

But the nice thing about digging through photos is you find pictures you didn’t even remember taking.  In this case, I had thought that I didn’t have a picture of this card I created in July and am so excited to realize I do!

    Forest Friends Shoebox Swap

This was a card I created for a shoebox swap at convention.  What is a shoebox swap?  It is an event when you create a project and bring all the supplies for 5-6 other people to make your project.  Then everyone comes with their shoebox of project supplies and we each make everyone else’s project.  Its pretty fun.

So, my inspiration for this card was Window Sheets.  The name makes me think of a window and so I wanted to create my own window pane on a card.  Sadly, I didn’t take pictures from the side, but how I did this was to take a square of Bashful Blue cardstock and adhere a piece of Old Olive cardstock that had been torn along one side to make the grass.  I stamped the deer and the tree from Forest Friends on Whisper White paper and cut them out.  The tree I adhered to the Bashful Blue paper (with the bottom of the tree glued under the Old Olive paper).  Then I adhered the deer to the Old Olive paper using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I took a square Window Sheet piece, slightly bigger than the Bashful Blue CS, and added strips of Soft Suede for the frame around the edges.  To make the Soft Suede look a bit more “wood grainy” I actually used the handles of a plastic grocery bag, pressed them onto the Soft Suede ink pad and then used that as a stamp to add texture to the cardstock.  The Bashful Blue paper was glued to the Rich Razzleberry base.  Then I added the framed Window Sheet piece on top using more Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Add some Old Olive ribbon to the bottom of the card and then make a label using the Modern Label punch in Soft Suede under a Word Window punchout on Whisper White (the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes).  I added some gold brads for a final touch of bling.  Overall, the card isn’t hard to do, it just has a number of steps involved.  However, I loved the look and will probably do this again with a different scene out my window.

Thanks for visiting my blog!  I hope you stop back again soon. Smile

  • World Card Making Day Projects–Part 2

Like I mentioned earlier this week, at my World Card Making Day event, I brought supplies for everyone to make cards based on two different layouts.  I shared the first layout in a previous post and so I thought I would share the second layout today.

So, here is the card that I made as a sample:

It is a super quick and easy card and it lets you feel like you are an artist (even if you are like me and can’t paint or draw worth anything Smile) by giving you space to color using markers and/or water coloring.

So, given those card components, here are some of the cute creations the other folks came up with:

    Karolina’s cards

    Pam’s card –
this is another example of why I love it when folks take my samples and do their own thing.  I love how she tucked the sentiment label between the designer paper layer and the scalloped edge.  It’s a different way of layering I probably wouldn’t have thought of on my own.

    Card Recipes:
Stamps: Fun and Fast Notes, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Real Red CS, Basic Gray CS, Crumb Cake CS, Bashful Blue CS, Greenhouse Gala DSP, Celebrations DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Pacific Point, Stampin’ Write markers
Accessories: Scallop edge punch, Scallop trim punch, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch, Blender pens, Watercolor pen

  • World Card Making Day fun

I meant to get this post up sooner but my camera suddenly did not want to talk to my computer and so the photos were in limbo for a while.  Thankfully, after much massaging, sweet talking, and cajoling, my camera finally decided to let me pull off the pictures. Smile

Did you do something fun for World Card Making Day this last Saturday?

I met with some folks to create some cards to donate to Operation Write Home and send our cards out to the troops overseas.  We ended up with a small group, but it was still a very fun group and we enjoyed hanging out for a couple hours and just letting our creative sides loose.

This was the first to two cards I designed for the day.  However, instead of cutting all the same paper for everyone, I cut a bunch of different color cardstock and designer series paper in the dimensions needed for the cards.  Then everyone could use the same basic design but get creative on color combinations, stamps, and even the layout.  I have to say, I got some new fun ideas from what everyone made.

So from that, folks mixed and match and came up with some fun variations on this card.  Here are some examples of what folks did using the same dimensions of base layers:

    Bethani’s Cards

    Karolina’s Cards

    Pam’s Christmas Card

Kind of neat how the same idea could be used in different ways?  Later this week, I’ll share the other designs we made on Saturday.

What did you make on World Card Making Day?  Leave me a comment and share what you did!

  • Halloween Punch Art blog hop

Man, can you believe the stores are already putting out their Halloween decorations and candy?  I guess that means the holiday season is creeping up on us.  But that also means fun holiday projects like a ton of fabulous Halloween Punch art.  I’m participating in a blog hop with 13 other extremely creative folks.  I had a ton of ideas and they are mostly half done on my craft table.  So, while I work on figuring out what to do with my little creatures on the table, here is a quick card I created after being inspired by a skull image I saw online.

I have to say that Mr Bones here  looks even cuter in real life. 🙂 I made his head by punching out a 1 3/4″ circle and then using the word window punch to cut out the sides of his face for cheeks.  I used a few different circle punches to get his eyes and the small heart from the Heart to Heart punch to make his nose.  His jaw is made using the wide oval punch.  You punch out an oval from white cardstock and then punch the center of the oval out using the wide oval punch again.  His bow tie is the modern label punch that I trimmed in the top and bottom to make the bow tie shape and then added some additional circles for the knot.  Kinda snazzy, huh?  I love what a few basic punches can do!

Here is another in my series of cards I made with limited supplies.

Coming this Saturday, the new Summer Mini catalog starts up and in there is some great new stamps, accessories, and designer paper.  One of the great papers is this new Travel Journal paper.  It is perfect for making cards and scrapbook pages for your trips, or just for some masculine layouts.  Both patterns you see here are actually the same paper, just front and back.  Add a couple courderoy buttons and a touch of color with ribbon, and VOILA!  A Father’s Day card, all ready to go.

    Stamps – Teeny Tiny Wishes
    Ink – Chocolate Chip Classic
Paper – Travel Journal DSP, Kraft CS, Chocolate Chip CS, Whisper White CS
Accessories – Chocolate Chip courderoy buttons, Pumpkin Pie 1/4″ ribbon, Stampin Dimensionals, Glue Dots

  • Getting back to stamping!

Wow, its been a while since I posted.  I have to admit, I’ve had lots of intention, even taking pictures of cards I’ve made but yet I never had a chance to post.  Well, today is the day to actually get pictures off my camera and up online!

Today’s card is one I made a week ago when I went to visit my grandparents down in Arizona.  I wanted to take Nicholas to meet his great grandparents so we hopped on a plane and flew for a weeklong visit.  I knew my mom would be visiting at the same time, so I decided I ought to take some stamping supplies with me for some late night stamping sessions.  I didn’t have a lot of room, so I took a little bit of patteren paper, a couple pieces of cardstock, a circle punch, some buttons, ribbon scraps, 5 markers, 1 ink pad, and 2 stamp sets (Fox and Friends and Teeny Tiny Wishes).  Basically what I could jam in a large SU stamp box plus the stamp sets.

I made this for a friend of mine who moved across the country and I wanted to send her a card to say hello.  I LOVE this glitter DSP from the Occasions Mini catalog  and when I think of monkeys I think of her, so this was my attempt to combine the two in a fun yet simple card.  It was quick and easy and hopefully she will get a kick out of it.

    Supplies:
Stamps – Fox and Friends, Teeny Tiny Wishes
    Ink – Chocolate Chip Classic
Paper – Sending Love Specialty Paper, Very Vanilla CS, Chocolate Chip CS, Kraft CS
Accessories – Circle punches, Stampin’ Dimensionals

One last bit of fun.  While I was in Arizona, I realized that the Creating Keepsakes crafting convention was in town, so since my mom and grandma like to craft as well, we decided to have an early Mother’s Day treat and all went to the convention for some classes and shopping.  Since I was going all day, that meant Nicholas went with us.  He was so good all day and all the ladies there loved seeing him in the classes.  So, at age 3 months, he’s now been to his first crafting convention!  Got to get him started early.  Plus, he needs to train for when he goes with me to the Stampin’ Up! Convention in July!  Here is a picture from our day out – 4 generations of crafters.
