  • 3 Days Left to Join Stampin’ Up! for only $25– a little Q&A

I’ve had a number of people asking questions about the $25 Starter Kit special and since there is only 3 days left (this offer ends Monday, Oct 21st), I thought I would answer a few questions here on the blog.

    1. Why would I want to be a demonstrator?
      My question is… why wouldn’t you? 🙂
But seriously, if you love crafting…. love sharing ideas and inspiration with others (even if it inspiration you found somewhere else!)… and/or just love building your Stampin’ Up! collection of supplies, this is a great fit for you.  When you are a demonstrator, you get discounts on everything you buy, commission off anything anyone else buys, and you are instantly brought in to the community that is Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.  There is not only creative support and idea sharing, but there is also a feeling of family where we share and support each other in our lives.  It is a way to earn some extra money (whether to help pay for more supplies, or to help pay a family bill) and gain new friends as you share your love of creating with others in classes and workshops.  Plus, you run your business the way you want to… push hard or just relax and enjoy the benefits.  See more of the benefits here.

    2. Don’t I have to do a bunch of selling?
      Nope!
First off, whether you are looking to do this as a business, to feed your own hobby, or just to get the perks personally and you don’t want to sell to anyone else, you have over 5 months to try it out!  Stampin’ Up! gives you through then end of the first full quarter to make the minimums to keep getting all the perks. So, that means you have until March 31st to sell or buy your first $300 in products.  And keep in mind, that is the retail price… anything you buy, you get at least 20% off.
There are lots of specials and promotions to earn free stamp sets and cash if you do decide to sell to your friends and family, but no obligation to do so.
    3. What do I get in the starter kit?
This special is giving you some basics and access to all the demonstrator resources for only $25.  The kit itself includes:
      ** $25 – $26.95 in product of your choice
** Business supplies including catalogs, order forms, invitation post cards, and more
** And instant access to the demonstrator website, and me as a resource. 🙂
    4. What should I get in the starter kit?
This is a question I get a lot and it is a bit of a tough one because it really depends on (1) what supplies you already have, and (2) if you are planning on holding classes/workshops or not.
In general, the starter kit I’ve been recommending to go with this promotion (assuming you aren’t just buying your favorite stamp set or framelit set to fill out your collection) includes
** Whisper White Note cards & Envelopes (item 131527)
** an ink pad (or the In Color marker set that is on the clearance rack right now for $5.99 because 4 of the 5 colors of markers are still current colors – item 123002)
** a single stamp (like the Birthday Cake stamp – item 130390)
** a pack of rhinestones (item 119246 ) or candy dots (Item 130933)
    5. $25 Stampin' Up! Starter KitIs there any information or support for me after I sign up?
Heck Ya!There is TONS of support and information for you after you sign up including
      **the demonstrator website,
**demo-only forums and galleries on Stampin’ Connection,
**the bi-monthly Stampin’ Success, online demo-only groups,
**our Fun n’ Crafty team facebook group,
**monthly team meetings in person and via web-conference calls
**and of course, me!  I’m always here to help and cheer you on!
    6. Ok, I think I’m ready, now what?
Woo hoo!  I’m excited for you.  All you need to do now is go to the online form to enter your information and select your goodies for your starter kit!

  • Getting Creative with the Christmas Star Stamp

Woo hoo!  Today is the day that I’m heading to Utah for Founder’s Circle and I don’t think I could be any more excited!  5 days to relax, stamp, explore, and socialize with some amazing stampers and demonstrators – what could be a better vacation?

I’ll be blogging from my trip in Utah as well as offering a Founder Circle special while I’m away!  So, be sure to stop back by the blog to catch all the excitement.

But, while I’m traveling, I wanted to make sure to share with you some new project ideas using the Christmas Star holiday single stamp

This stamp is an elegant way to decorate or create for the holidays.  And the coolest part is that it is super easy to make it pop-out into a 3D star!  But more on that in a minute. Smile

Now, first thing, I’ll warn you – this stamp is bigger than you think.  I ordered the stamp and didn’t really pay attention to what clear block the flyer listed that was required for it.  I assumed one of my medium blocks would work – NOPE!  It takes the biggest block (block F).

Yup.  That is a 4.25” x 5.5” card base and the Christmas Star next to it!

Now, you may be wondering what can I do with a stamp that big?

Why, make cute cards and home décor projects, of course!  Smile The first thing I did was make a Christmas card with the star.

I decided to go for a more vintage-y feel and so I stamped on Crumb Cake paper with my Cherry Cobbler ink.  Sponge the edges with Crumb Cake ink and then add a touch of sparkle with some Silver Glimmer paper.  Pretty, no?

Then I wanted to play with the fact that you could make the star into a 3D star.

How do you make the Christmas Star pop up?
    1. Stamp your Christmas Star image on a piece of white cardstock
    2. Cut out the star (yes, you need to hand cut this, but it isn’t as bad as you think)
    3. Fold the star in half using the white lines that radiate out from the center of the star as guidelines.
    4. Use your bone folder to press each fold line (you should fold in half 5 times)
    5. Set your star on a table or flat surface and then gently squeeze the sides in to cause the center of the star to push up off the table.
    6. Your star should stay dimensional and you can now add it to your projects!

Once I made my star, I knew I had to put in on something, so I made this rosette ornament.

I cut two strips of 1.75” x 11” pieces of Wild Wasabi cardstock and then scored it at 1/4” increments.  Then I could fold my paper back and forth to create the accordian look.

Glue the ends of each strip together to make one big circle and then push the center down flat to make my rosette.  Now, I haven’t made many rosettes before, and I’m a complete newbie to my hot glue gun…. so, when I had to hot glue the middle of my rosette together so it would stay flat, it got a bit messy!  But it works, and I covered it up, so you’d never know!

Then I just added a circle of Silver Glimmer paper (adhering with hot glue again) and then added my star (adhering with glue dots) to the top.  Punch a hole in the rosette and run some of the new Silver 1/8” taffeta ribbon from the holiday catalog and you have yourself an ornament!

Oh, and the rhinestone!  Don’t forget the rhinestone in the center of the star!

So see, there are lots of cute things you can do with this stamp – even if it is big!

  • How to Get Started with Stampin’ Up! for FREE!

imageHave you been thinking about getting the Stampin’ Up! starter kit and getting all the perks of being a demo, but the cost has been keeping you from jumping on the great offers out there?

We all know the starter kit is a great deal – picking out $125 in your choice of product for only $99 + FREE shipping; plus with the bonus project kit right now, you get an extra $20-$30 worth of goodies free too!  But, if the $99 all at one time is a bit daunting, I wanted to share with you this great math that my fellow demonstrator, Lyssa Zwolanek, came up with that makes it not only FREE to get your starter kit, but you earn extra money too!

Check out how you can do it too!

    1. You host a party with me and all of your friends.  Because, no matter what, a night of stamping with friends is awesome!
    2. Your party hits $400 in sales that night (which typically earns $80 in commission, but wait for it… it gets better!)
    3. We sign you up as a demonstrator that night and you pick out your $125 in product PLUS the free project kit & accessories; and we put the $99 starter kit on your credit card.
    4. You are a demonstrator instantly!!

~ But where does the free part come in?  Just watch it all add up! ~

    • Together we enter the orders for your party with you as the demonstrator.
    • Because your first demo order was over $150 you actually get 30% commission – so you get $120 commission right then!
    • And since it was $400 or more, you get volume rebates so you get an extra 5% – so another $20
    • Plus, you are not only the demonstrator but you are also the hostess, so you get the hostess benefits for the party which are at least $65 in free product plus 1 half price item!
    • This order also meets your quarterly minimums, so you are set as an active demonstrator with all the perks until March 2014!  That means preordering the newest stuff, discounts on all your orders, earning commission on all orders you place, demonstrator only forums, being a member of my Fun n’ Crafty group with our monthly meetings and Facebook group, and more!
    • You are also almost half way to promoting to Senior Associate and well on your way to earning free stamps as part of Stampin’ Start!

    That sounds great!  Now what?

I’m super excited to help everyone take advantage of this fabulous math, and we are going to do it together!

So, how it works is that before your party, we will get together (or talk over the phone if we need) and plan what projects you want to show.  We’ll talk about what we need to do to make your event a huge success and if you need to borrow stamps or supplies to kick things off – I totally have you covered!

At your party, we’ll set up together and you can walk everyone through the projects we’ll be making.  I’ll take care of talking through the catalog and specials so you can relax, enjoy, and observe.  If any of your friends is interested in hosting their own party and helping you out as you get started as a demo, we’ll put it on your calendar and get you that jump start!

Afterwards, I’ll total all the orders up as you relax and hang out with your friends.  Then we can together get you signed up as a demonstrator and put in the orders under your name.  Woo hoo!

But what happens if my party doesn’t hit $400?

No worries!  You have a couple options:

    1. We still sign you up as a demonstrator that night and enter the party in your name.  Any difference in commission you earn vs the starter kit you can just make up and tell your family it is an early Christmas gift to you. Smile  You still get all the extra freebies that come along with it, so you are still coming out ahead!
    2. Decide you are just going to be the hostess for the evening.  You get all the hostess benefits and you had a fabulous time stamping with your friends.  Sweet!

    You have nothing to lose!

So to recap it all –

You help plan and host a party for you and your friends.

The party orders is $400 or more

    You get

    • $125 in product with your starter kit
    • $65 in free product as part of hostess benefits
    • 1 half price item of your choice
    • $140 in cash/commissions
      – all for $99 plus tax.

So, in the end you just got $190 in product and $40 in cash, all in exchange for hosting a fun night of stamping with your friends!

Sounds awesome, right?  If you want to get started planning your party and join Stampin’ Up! and my team of Fun n’ Crafty demonstrators, give me a call or shoot me an email at jennifer@nwstamper.com and we’ll get you going!  I can’t wait to help you get started.  Smile

  • Stampin’ Up! Convention 2013 Recap & Announcements

If you have been following along with all the news from convention, you probably saw and heard a bunch of product announcements, news, and promotions.  Turns out I took around 1,000 pictures, so while I edit those, I thought I would summarize all the news so you can make sure you didn’t miss a thing.

    New Product Announcements

One of the really fun things at convention is being the first to hear about new products.  This year was no exception and we had a number of fun announcements for what is on the way!

    • Undefined Product Line –  Create your own one-of-a-kind stamps with this new line of rubber carving tools and the raw rubber and blocks to create your image. And yes, I know it sounds intimidating, but it is easier than you might think!  If I can create this flower, you can make a stamp too! Smile

    Available Now!

    • Flip Card Thinlit Dies! – I’m super excited about these new dies, and not just because I won one of them. Smile  These dies (in both circle and label shapes) makes it super easy to create fun flip cards with just a few cranks in your Big Shot (instead of fussing about placement, cutting, scoring… etc).
      imageAvailable August 1st

    • Envelope Score BoardNow you have another option for creating custom envelopes in 66 different sizes!  The board has printed on the front, exactly what size to cut your paper for the size envelope you want.  Then you just use the guides to score the 4 quick lines, use the built in notch punch to cut away the parts you don’t need, and a  built in corner rounder to punch the corners of your envelope flaps to make them look even cuter!
