  • Make Your Own Plaid Paper with Sheer Perfection Vellum

Make Your Own Plaid Paper with Sheer Perfection Vellum

Yesterday I posted my Green Card Challenge – where I challenged you to create a card that only uses greens and neutrals and then link them up for fun and prizes.  So, I thought I would play along with my challenge and make something to share as well!  So this is my creation:

Everyone is loving the Sheer Perfection Vellum that is one of the free Sale-a-Bration items that was released at the beginning of March.  I finally received mine and wanted to play and while this card turned into something totally different than the original plan, I was so excited to discover the idea for making your own plaid with the vellum!

    Tips for making this card:

    • You can customize your Sheer Perfection vellum by coloring with your Stampin’ Write markers over the parts of the pattern you want colored.  In this case, I took some of the striped paper and colored over the slash lines using my Mossy Meadow marker.
    • Make your pattern plaid by laying one piece of the striped paper horizontally over the same patterned going vertically.  Because they are printed on vellum, you will be able to see through and have both patterns show at the same time!
    • How to glue your vellum – with printed vellum like this, use the 2-way glue pen to ink behind the strips.  This gives you lots of holding power without showing through!
    • When doing a monochromatic card, mix and match your inks and embellishments for different shades of the same color to keep it interesting.  Here I used the Mossy Meadow ribbon as a base and then had loopy flourishes of the Pistachio Pudding twine behind my sentiment to pull in the card base color.
    • You can also stamp directly onto the vellum.  When you stamp on top it gives it a bolder color but you still get subtle bits of the underlying pattern coming through.

Don’t forget, you can only get this Sheer Perfection vellum through the end of the month as part of Sale-a-bration – it’s free with your $50 order!

Your Turn! Join me for my card challenge!

Make a card using only greens and neutrals and post it up HERE.  You have until monday 3/23 and for fun I’ll draw someone randomly to get a small prize from my stash here.  I can’t wait to see what everyone creates!

  • St Patrick’s Day Special (17% off!) and a Green Card Challenge for YOU!

St Patrick’s Day Special (17% off!) and a Green Card Challenge for YOU!

Ok, so I got super distracted last night with organizing my crafting space (I was cleaning and noticed that my now overly large collection of just the larger sized punches were getting too heavy and bowing the bottom of my drawer!) and so it was time for them to move.  Though I wasn’t quite sure where I was going to move them TO because I wanted them close at hand but liked everything else I had close at hand.  In the end, they pushed my Big Shot out of the way and took a prime spot on the back of my craft table.  So we will see how this goes!

    Green Card Challenge!

I also wanted to do something fun for everyone to play along – so I decided to have a Green Card challenge.

    How it works:

    1. Create a card that is made up entirely of greens and neutrals.  So you can use multiple colors of green, only one green, and your browns/whites/black/grey/etc.  And use whatever supplies you have at home.
    2. Post a link to your creation using the linky tool below!
    3. You have until 3/22 to post up your creations
    4. WIN!  On 3/23, I’ll draw a random winner to get a little something from my crafty stash and I’ll share some of my favorite cards here on the blog.

  • 10–11-12 — Giveaway!!

I know, I’m a little late to the game, but I realized that today is October 11th, 2012… which means today is:

    My Project 9-001

Well, since I always love an excuse to do something different and fun, I decided to put together a little giveaway for this fun alignment of dates. 🙂

So, I have a challenge for you!

    My 10/11/12 –13 Challenge

Today, create any project – a card, scrapbook page, wall hanging, digital printable, gift bag, etc – and include “13” in it somehow.

You have lots of options for interpreting that but it could be 13 pieces of paper, 13 buttons, 13 brads, 13 stamped images… or even just the number 13!

Once you’ve created your project, post it to my Facebook page or email me a photo at jennifer@nwstamper.com to show your completed project.  I’ll highlight some of the projects I receive and to add to the fun, will even do a random drawing from everyone who posts to send a little thank you prize!

I know I’ll be giving away a new Gold Dazzle Pen and depending on how many people participate, I’ll keep adding more to the pile from my stash. 🙂

    Challenge deadline:

I am heading out of town tonight, so I’ll do the drawing when I get home on Sunday 10/14 at 11pm PST.  So, work on your projects today and get them posted by this weekend!

I can’t wait to see what you create!

  • Two Stamping Challenges in One Card!

bright_happiness_wm1I sat down this evening to get started on my card kits for Saturday.  And instead, I decided to try out a card sketch challenge.  Then, I decided to get more ambitious and checked out SCS to see what color challenges were up.  I haven’t participated in any SCS challenges before and I’ve been meaning to for a while.  Its funny, I actually had a moment where I felt like I was cheating by using a card sketch.  Then I had to laugh at myself and say “inspiration is a good thing”.  No need to reinvent the wheel everytime.  Especially if you don’t have a design sitting top of mind, itching to get down on paper.

I ended up changing the sketch challenge that I used.  But thought it would work well with the stamps I choose.  And the colors… my oh my the colors!  I picked this recent bold bright challenge because I can never seem to get myself to use many of my Bold Brights (heck, my Gable Green was still in the shrink wrap and I’ve had it for about a year!)  I always gravitate towards the Earth and Jewel tones in Earth Elements and Rich Regals.  So, I figured I needed to do this challenge to break out of my mold.  I think the blue flowers are bit bright for me, but I decided to stick with it once I had it stamped.

    Stamps:
    Happiness Always
Inks:  Tempting Turquoise, Lovely Lilac, Pink Passion, Gable Green
Paper: Whisper White CS, Lovely Lilac, Pink Passion
