  • Check out that NEW Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop!

10383580_10204078098778853_972456530417495748_nWelcome to the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop for June! I’ve been seeing the amazing talent of the folks in my Fun n’ Crafty group of demonstrators and I thought it would be fun for us to start a monthly hop to showcase everyone’s work and give you lots of ideas around different themes.

I’m so excited for this inaugural blog hop and hope you enjoy all the inspiration.  This month we will be showcasing project ideas from the NEW Stampin’ Up annual catalog. So make sure to check out the list of stops on the hop at the bottom of this post to see them all!

So, here is my contribution… a lovely catalog CASE only my card is using the new Blended Blooms stamp.

Here is my inspiration for the card… you can find it on page 170 in your catalog.  It is showing the new Sweetbriar Rose stamp, which I don’t have…and I don’t have the paper yet either.  But that is ok, you just make it work with what you have!image

There were lots of cards and projects that I saw that I really wanted to try but this one jumped out at me and I had to give it a go.   I liked the idea of coloring directly on a non-white cardstock and I figured it was a good excuse to bust out my Blendabilities markers.  (Stampin’ Up’s new alcohol ink markers ~ available now to demonstrators and coming soon to everyone later this summer)

And I’m pretty excited because this is my first real attempt using my Blendabilties and I think it turned out pretty well.  Now imagine how this would look on white cardstock!

I loved all the little touches in this card too.  From the bit of White Tea Lace Doilies to the faux stitchiing at the edge of each piece of designer paper… because you KNOW I don’t have a sewing machine or the time to do much of any hand stitching. 🙂

Now one thing you’ll learn from using Blendabilities is that they do bleed through the paper.  Thankfully, in some cases, it actually looks pretty pretty on the inside. Don’t you think?

I made one more card but in the interest of time, I’ll share it later this week so you can move on to see some of the other great projects in the hop!

So make sure you visit the links below and make sure to leave them some love by commenting and letting them know what you think of their interpretations!

Oh So Pretty Blendabilities & a Stamp Sneak Peek!

I was so excited to be able to attend the Stampin’ Up! new catalog premiere this monday afternoon.  It was the first time Stampin’ Up had tried showing us the new catalog with a live presentation in California and live streaming to theaters across the US and Canada.  Turns out, it was a lot of fun, and almost as exciting as the main stage presentations at convention.

Best of all, we got our very own copy of the upcoming catalog!

    2014-04-28 18.36.54

Don’t mind my squinting…. we actually have sun here in the Northwest for the first time in ages it seems. Smile  So the weather was great but that wasn’t great for photos.

    Anyway!

There were lots of great reveals of new products (alphabet framelits!!!  new dies, new punches, the new in colors – which I think look a lot like the color scheme in the current Epic Day designer paper btw) and some fabulous samples.

I thought I would share one of the things I can’t wait to get my hands on (thank you demonstrator preorder!) – Stampin’ Blendabilities!

They showed us this cute sample using a new stamp called Blended Bloom using some of the different colors:

    pumpkin pie blendabilities blended bloom

    wisteria wonder blendabilities blended bloom

    So pretty, right?

I may not be an artist, and I’m not sure how well I’ll do with coloring with markers.  But I can’t wait to get my sets and give it a go.  From the little I’ve played with at Leadership and seeing them demonstrate it, I think it isn’t nearly as hard as you might think!

Ok, I’m off to start building my wishlist…. so many great things I need to make a plan. Smile  So, enjoy this little share of what is to come and I’ll have more for you soon!

And don’t forget – if you want to get in on the early previews of the catalog and preorders – or just want to come to convention for FREE to get the experience!  Consider getting the Stampin’ Up starter kit and you’ll get all of that and more when you join now.

  • Waiting for News on the Stampin’ Up Blendabilities?

Waiting for News on the Stampin’ Up Blendabilities?

So, I’m delaying my originally planned post for today until tomorrow.  So in the meantime, I wanted to share some news I just learned and remind everyone that there is only 5 days left for the Super Starter Kit deal!

And, after I tell you about the Blendabilities news… you are really going to want to make sure you know about your option for being a member of the Stampin’ Up Family. Smile

    Stampin’ Blendabilities – Coming Soon(ish)

Now, if you haven’t heard of Blendabilties, they are Stampin’ Up’s version of alcohol ink markers.  These types of markers are great for blending colors and get complex shading of your images.  It also isn’t nearly as hard as it looks either!

Here is an example of the type of project you can make:

    Pleasant Poppies

I don’t have this type of marker yet (I just got to play with them at Leadership in January) but I found this BEAUTIFUL card created by Darlene DeVries.  She used Copic markers which is the same type of marker so you can see the possibilities with the Pleasant Poppies stamp.

Now, if they have Copics, why am I waiting to buy Stampin’ Blendabilities?

    A few reasons…

    1. Stampin’ Blendabilities are more cost-effective!  They will be available for $11.95 for a set of 3 as opposed to $5-$8 a marker.
    2. They will come in SU colors and so coordinate with the papers, cardstock, and accessories I already have.  (I know, I’m a sucker for easy matching!)
    3. You get your markers in sets of 3 that tell you which shades go together.  So no guessing.  I can get a set of Cherry Cobbler markers and have the light, medium, and dark in one set and know I can shade anything red and know which marker colors go together.
    4. And of course, as a demonstrator, I get an extra discount… and any chance to save money on some awesome tools is always a great perk!
When can I get some Stampin’ Blendabilties?

So, here is the tricky question.  Thankfully, Stampin’ Up realized that there are a LOT of people eagerly waiting for these markers and so they are trying to make sure they have enough inventory to prevent backorders.  Turns out, manufacturing is taking longer than they thought, so they have had to shift the release date.

Demonstrators – If you are a demonstrator, you will be able to preorder 6 of the colors plus some accessories with the new catalog products preorder on May 1st!  Then when the new catalog launches June 2nd, the skin tone colors will be out next.

Customers – We are still waiting to hear when they will be available for everyone to order.  All the Blendabilities products will be shown in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog in June but the date for ordering will be based on how manufacturing goes in the next couple months.  (The goal being as soon as possible when the new catalog launches)

I’ll keep you posted as they update us, but if you are really eager for your own set of Blendabilities, consider getting your Stampin’ Up starter kit and joining the demonstrator family!  Get all the perks including seeing the 2014-2015 catalog first & get in on the early ordering the new products!

  • Stampin’ Up Leadership Convention 2014–Day 1

Oh. My. Word.  I just finished the first day of Stampin Up’s Leadership conference and there has been so much great stuff that has been happening that I’m going to have to be super brief so I can try to share it all with you!

That and the fact that it is almost 3am here in Houston and I really ought to go to bed soon before my 7:00am wakeup call.  ; )

If you are looking for lots more pictures – check out the albums on my Facebook page, these are my highlights reel and exciting news scoop!

    Leadership Day 1 Highlights

This year Leadership is smaller in terms of attendance than last year (no surprise because last year was an anniversary year) but that meant I had an easier time finding friends that I was excited to see and catch up with!  I may not be the best about staying in touch, but everyone is so amazing when you see them again at an event like this!

    2014-01-09 09.15.19

Hanging with the Seattle-based SBStamper crew!  And then quick pictures with two amazing gals I got to hang out with at Founder’s Circle this year – Tamra Davis and Julie Davison!

    IMG_0001IMG_0002

Then session was ready to start.  I had the new snazzy bag they gave us and we waited to hear what new exciting things SU had in store.

    2014-01-09 09.52.29

Let me say, they did NOT disappoint!  First up was Shelli Gardner, CEO of Stampin’ Up!  She was in a horse riding accident last August and was unable to walk due to fractures of her pelvis, clavicle, and wrist!  And check it out, not only is she walking now – but in HEELS!  What a strong and driven woman.

    IMG_0006

After a great message from Shelli, her daughter Sarah took the stage and started sharing some stamping projects with us.  IMG_0020Little did we know we were going to be BOMBARDED with new product announcements

My poor seat neighbors probably go some ringing in the ears from my excited screaming as we saw and heard about new goodies such as:

Blendabilities – Alcohol based blending markers

    IMG_0010

These markers will come in sets of 3 – with different shades (“light”, “dark”, etc) of the same color that will blend together to allow you to create gorgeously smooth colored images.  And it will only be $11.95 for the set which is a great deal for this type of marker!

The markers are currently in production right now so we didn’t get to play with them, but we saw them demo’d up close and I CAN’T WAIT to get my hands on some!

    IMG_0034

See all 12 colors that will be released in the first quarter of this year

    New Photopolymer Stamps & Update

Then she talked about photopolymer stamps – aka “completely clear stamps” – and share how they will be continuing to not only release a new photopolymer stamp set each month, but there will be photopolymer stamps in the June annual catalog!

Plus, they will start coming in CASES mid-year, yay!  And they will be picking designs for these stamps sets that are most benefited by the completely clear nature of the stamp (like alphas and outlines).

    IMG_0019

Even new photopolymer personalized name stamps!

    IMG_0025

After the initial sessions, we got lunch and a chance to check out the Gathering Place. It was full of great stuff including

    Children’s Hospital Service Project

We were working to put together 500 Birthday Celebration kits (notebooks, banners, stamp, marker, etc) to give to kids at the hospital.  We all chipped in on assembling the kits and boxing them up.

    2014-01-09 13.19.172014-01-09 13.19.24

there were lots of resources for business building tips and tool training, but I didn’t get a chance to hit most of the booths on day 1.  So more on the interesting parts another day.

But there were lots of samples and project displays!

Like I love this lollipop decorated with the new Spiral Flower die!

    IMG_0035

    And of course, display boards!

    IMG_0052 (2)IMG_0072 (2)
    IMG_0117IMG_0095 (2)

Then it was off to more classes for sharing all kinds of great ideas for projects, classes, ways of meeting new people, better using social media, etc.  Fun stuff!

We finally got a break, which I TOTALLY needed because my cell phone had died earlier in the afternoon.  But soon it was time to head back to the convention center to catch a bus to Manager’s Reception.

Stampin’ Up! sets up a special event every year for anyone who has grown their group enough to have earned the title of Manager or above.  They plan a fun activity and some snacks to eat while you are there.

So, our wild crew got ready and waited in line for our bus.  (Aren’t those sharks adorable?!?  They were our tickets to the event!)

    2014-01-09 18.56.03

We headed to the Houston downtown aquarium and boy was it more than I ever expected!  We got off the bus and were greeted by staff, stilt walkers, and not just fish but amusement rides!

      IMG_0228

Plus there was SO MUCH AMAZING FOOD!  I’m glad I didn’t eat dinner before I came!

    IMG_0125IMG_0112

We rode a huge ferris wheel

    IMG_0225

We had a chance to feed some stingrays.

(If you want to check out the hilarious faces we all made when the stingray took the fish from our fingers, click and be ready for a laugh!)

    IMG_0155IMG_0231

And generally wanderd, talked, and had a great time!  It was a full but super fun day and though I’m still up even though it is almost 4 in the morning, I can’t wait to get up and see what is in store for us tomorrow … err… later this morning.  : )

I’ll be back tomorrow with more details as I get them.
