We all are loving the Butterfly Thinlits and I will say, the Butterfly Basics stamp set too. Now, I’ve told you before, I wasn’t quite sure what I thought about the Butterfly Basics stamp set when I first saw it… I loved the dies but the stamp set let me wondering what I would make with it.
I shouldn’t have been so worried! I decided to just go for it since they had the 15% off bundle, and boy am I glad I did. It make it so easy to make this card:
I’ll have the project tips below, but first…
DON’T FORGET!! TODAY is the last day to get this awesome deal on these items:
Here is where you can find them in the online store:
Butterfly Basics turns out to be an awesome collaging set! As in, you can take the stamps in the set and just start randomly mashing them together and 90% of the time, something super cool comes out! I love a stamp set that doesn’t make me think too hard.
Use your medium butterfly thinlit to die cut completely out a butterfly from a piece of Whisper White paper.
THEN stamp your background images on the big white paper with the butterfly set aside.
THEN adhere your big piece of white paper to a slightly larger piece of colored cardstock (in this case, the lovely Coastal Cabana)
THEN adhere your butterfly back into the die cut hole, but only glueing down the central body of the butterfly. This lets the wings be free to lift up from the page. Tip: Use 2 way glue pen for a quick adhesive that isn’t messy to glue your diecut down.
Fill in the corner by stamping the butterfly from the same stamp set on scrap paper to punch out, and then again (without reinking) onto your cardstock for a lighter matching butterfly.
Ok – now I’m off to stalk the new Annual Catalog! They are making it available for demonstrators to view the catalog online this morning and then start preordering new goodies May 5th! So, I’m eager to check out all the new and start planning what I can show and teach.Want to get in on the excitement? You can still join my team– get $125 in your choice of items for only $99 – PLUS see the catalog online right away and preorder along with me! You will even get a discount on what you preorder.
My head has been down focused on recent stamping events including my Sale-a-Bration Celebration customer appreciation event, getting my April Class-by-Mail out the door, and working on thank you cards and projects for my next few classes (Beautiful Bokeh on Monday 4/27 for you locals, and hopefully the Easy & Elegant Artisan Cards for May’s Class by mail!) And though it has been crazy, it’s been a lot of fun! I love getting a chance to make some special goodies to say thank you for everyone who has been supporting me and letting me bring a little creativity into their lives!
(some of the lovely ladies at my appreciation event on Monday!)
Oh, and to top it off, my camera stopped working (well, the flash stopped working) so I had to mail it back in to Canon for repairs and just got it back yesterday! So, today I have a project that I forgot to share from a while back…simple but a great way to spruce up a simple gift bag!
Tips for making this project:
Pick up inexpensive plain gift bags from the dollar store or other discount store and use your scraps and stamps to embellish it!
Layer punches and dies to add a lot of dimension and WOW in a little space.
This tag uses 2 retiring punches/dies – The Artisan Label Punch and the Starburst Framelit
Mix in elements out of Glimmer Paper to add easy touches of sparkle and glitz.
Use Make the rest of the tag by layering images from the Amazing Birthday stamp set… but the best part is that this could be for anyone at anytime!
Did you know? The Amazing Birthday stamp set coordinates with the 1-1/4” Circle Punch and the Banner Framelits!
These sort of tags are perfect ways to use up your scraps and add that special handmade touch to your gifts. Plus they are fun to make… so WIN – WIN!
Like I mentioned, this uses 2 retiring accessories… the items are while supplies last and a lot have sold out already. So I wouldn’t wait too long to snag your favorites… the stamps will be manufactured through May 26th, but the accessories are while supplies last through June 2nd.
The Clearance Rack was updated yesterday too!
Ok, now I’m off to get thank yous in the mail and take pictures of the projects we made in the last week so I can be back tomorrow to share more fun ideas! Until then…

I know a bunch of folks missed out when it was available at the beginning of the year and Stampin’ Up knows how frustrated everyone has been with the dies and the discounted bundle being out of stock for so long due to the dock workers strike that was going on recently, especially if you were hoping to get the bundle and earn Sale-a-Bration benefits with it! So, because Stampin’ Up is awesome – they are offering a special “thank you for your patience” deal as soon as the dies show up in their warehouse and go on sale. Check it out:

Are you in love with Sheltering Tree? This was the surprise favorite from the Occasions Catalog this year and I love how versatile it is. So I thought I’d share one of the cards we did for Stamp Club recently:
The stamp set is photopolymer (that completely clear stamps) so it makes it really easy to perfectly layer the stamp images. And then you can even mix up your colors and designs like some of the ladies did here:
And I thought I had gotten pictures of some of the other images – like the pink trees for Cherry Blossoms like we have all over up here in Washington.
Tips for making this card:
When you stamp your trees, I always start with the trunk, then add your elements. Use the big dotted stamp to make your base leaves – green for spring – pink for cherry blossoms – yellow/orange for fall
Add accent flowers or leave color variations by using the little dots stamp (see below with the red arrow pointing to it) T echnically, those little dots are perfectly aligned to be flower heads on top of the little grass stems… but its all about versatility!
When stamping your bike, stamp the tires/handlebar image first. Then grab that little triangle bar stamps for the frame and add those in! Or as it has been known in class – the kite or the tent!
In this card, I loved the Sweet Dreams designer buttons from the Occasions catalog. Especially the Lost Lagoon one with the stitching! It went perfect with my paper piercing around the edge of the card.
And if you want your paper piercing to be perfect – use the Essentials Piercing pack! One of the templates gives you perfect rows, so you can line up the edge of your template with the edge of your paper and get perfect spacing everytime.
Add a little Hello Honey sponging around the sentiment for a touch of sunlight to your card.
Sweet, Simple, and Done!

When the new weekly deals were released, I had to laugh because so many of the items on sale are ones that I’ve used in classes and stamp club this month! Check it out:
So for example, this last week at Stamp Club, we used both the Mother’s Love stamp set and the Something Borrowed embellishments:
And then a couple weeks ago, we were doing an Embossing Folder Fun technique class and we used the Handheld Stapler and Deco Label Framelits (not the ones on the weekly deal this week) but you could do the same technique with the Label Framelits:
And of course, there are those fabulous Washi Sheets that I’ve been sharing with you as part of my Card Celebrations! Fun with Washi Sheets class:
And if you were interested in registering for this class by mail, I do have the instructions ready and available NOW and will be starting to mail out kits in the next couple days. So you still have time to sign up or purchase the instructions here.
Get Ready for the Butterfly Thinlits!
Just a reminder that hopefully tomorrow the butterfly thinlits will be back in stock! And see, they go so well with the Something Borrowed Embellishments!

Have you been loving the Butterfly Thinlits? I LOVE how pretty the delicate shapes are from the dies like on this card I made with the Red Glimmer Paper:
And I will say (even though I totally forgot to get a picture before I gave away all my swaps) that I really enjoy how EASY it is to put together a card with the Butterfly Basics stamp set. Seriously, it looks like an ok stamp set in the catalog, but when you start playing with it, cards start coming together really quickly! Here is one that I was sent recently (and it got a little crinkled in the mail!

Well, I know a bunch of folks missed out when it was available at the beginning of the year and Stampin’ Up knows how frustrated everyone has been with the dies and the discounted bundle being out of stock for so long due to the dock workers strike that was going on recently, especially if you were hoping to get the bundle and earn Sale-a-Bration benefits with it! The dies are expected in the warehouse TODAY and should be available for purchase on WEDNESDAY (April 15th)!
Everyone has been eagerly awaiting the return of these dies, so while they should be getting a lot in, I would make sure to order yours early to make sure you don’t have a bit of a wait in line as everyone makes a run on them!

And if you are still on the fence, here are a couple more ideas for you:
I was looking for a quick card idea as a bonus card for my Stamp Club recently and after being inspired by the lovely Connie Stewart and her cards using the One Tag Fits All stamp set, I made a few changes to one of her cards and came up with this idea that is perfect for when you are short on time but want the handmade touch for someone:
Tips for making this card:
Make a bunch of cards at one time by grabbing a piece of the Designer Series Paper Stacks (the ones that give you 4 monochromatic pages per color in a color family) and cutting 2”x5-1/2” pieces. Use the scallop edge border punch to round out one side of your strip and adhere to the left side of a Whisper White card base.
Use the One Tag Fits All stamp set, and all the sentiments are the same width, so you can make a bunch of different versions since you know they will all fit!
Grab a Stampin’ Write marker (like the Hello Honey marker I used here) and color a few of the images and then scribble over one of the words to highlight it!
Tie a coordinating ribbon – like this Hello Honey quilted ribbon – around the patterned paper and you are done!
See! Quick, easy, and still cute!
There is still time to register for my Card Celebrations! Fun with Washi Sheets class (and class by mail!)
Thanks to everyone who has already signed up! If you signed up for the instructions only, or for the kit by mail, I’ll be getting the instructions emailed out by Monday and the kits will be going out by Wednesday.

I will admit, I saw the washi sheets when they came out in the Occasions Catalog and I didn’t give them too much thought. Sure, washi was fun, but did I really need sheets of them? Well, I finally decided to get a pack and start playing and turns out that having bigger pieces of washi is actually a lot of fun and great for all kinds of projects! In fact, I created my April Class by Mail around Washi Sheets and the Celebrate Today stamp set bundle because I was having such a great time.
See, totally fun, right? And some of the cards use big pieces of washi sheets for backgrounds, die cuts, or punch outs that you need the bigger sheets to get these looks. I have all the details of this class by mail below (or join me in person next week on the 15th in either the morning or evening class session).
But first I thought I would share one of the cards from the class that was actually the very first one I created:
You could recreate this card with regular washi tape, but the thing that is cool about the washi sheets is that you get to pick the width of the strips you want. So, say you loved yellow and wanted a wide yellow strip in addition to the skinnier yellow strip shown above – you can totally do that!
I cut my strips of washi sheets to slightly different widths and then placed them on the background paper. Then stamped with the coordinating Celebrate Today stamp set for my central sentiment.
Turned out totally cute! Don’t you agree?
Want to make this and the 7 other cards?
You can join me in person if you are in the Seattle area

Tell me I’m not the only person who stamps images or cuts paper thinking it will be PERFECT for my project I’m working on, only to put it down on my paper and realize that it doesn’t fit AT ALL! Then when I realize they don’t work for my project, I have a hard time just throwing them in the recycle bin because I know they are perfectly good elements for another card or project. So, I collect them in a small box to use for later.
Well, I periodically decide it is time to just start creating using my scraps because otherwise they take over my craft table, that box, and everywhere else in my craft room! So, today I thought I’d share a card I created using only scraps from my pile. I think the only thing I cut fresh was the Baked Brown Sugar twine!
I think the stars were originally from an idea I had for a patriotic card. I used the Be the Star stamp set and the Star Framelits (which are on the weekly deals this week – btw!) So I just layered them using some dimensionals and then added some of the thick baker’s twine in Baked Brown Sugar and my main element was ready to go!
Then I just used a scrap piece of patterned paper from the Trim the Tree designer paper stack (still on the Clearance Rack for a great deal!) and a stamped sentiment from the Sale-a-Bration set Simply Wonderful.
So you never know when you will be able to mix elements for many times of the year to get a great anytime card!
Ok, so I have A LOT to catch up on… so, big breath in, and get ready to dive in to some project ideas for you!
First up, this fun birthday card idea using the Sale-a-Bration stamp set – Big Day!
Tips for making this card:
This was my first time using the new Chalk inks… and with it my first time playing with the new Chalkboard paper! This paper has the COOLEST texture and is so fun to play with. You want to stamp on the SMOOTH side with the chalk inks so that the ink will sit on the surface and give you that pretty chalkboard look. (this is the Coral Rose color)
Add your own extra touches with the Chalk Pen! The white dots under the cake and the white lines along the side of the chalkboard paper are made with the Chalk Pen. As you can see, it is really vibrant on the Chalkboard paper, but more “chalky” when drawing on regular cardstock.
Make a fun embellishment piece by using the new Ornate Tag Topper punch… only don’t just stick to one side, do both! I had a 2” strip of Whisper White cardstock that I punched both ends. Then run some ribbon through the holes (and tie together on the inside of the card) to hold it in place.
Jazz up your Ornate tag by grabbing a Stampin’ Write marker and drawing a border about 1/16” in from the edge of the tag. Really helps you see the design, huh?
And don’t hesitate to stamp your image and then stamp & color a second version to pop-up on top! It keeps it interesting to look at when viewed at different angles, but you only have to color one.
Lots of fun… and if you need another idea, here is a reminder of one of the official cards shared in the Sale-a-Bration catalog. I love the colors and the little pop of dimension with the “Celebrate”
Now, if you are like me and LOVE the black, white, and yellow combination, I really hope you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber because check out March’s kit and a fun alternate idea.
You have THROUGH TODAY (3/31/2015) to pick up a 3-month Prepaid subscription to the super fun kits by mail each month and not only SAVE $$ but also get a free Sale-a-Bration item to boot! I know, awesome right? I already picked up mine!
We never know what we are going to get until it ships out to us around the 15th of the month, but over the last year they have been working hard to improve the projects and how much you get in your box and so they have turned out to be really fun projects and you end up with lots of supplies. You know you will always get:
an exclusive stamp set
precut papers and supplies to make usually 6-9 copies of the project, though this varies by month and the project
all the accessories you need for the project and sometimes variations
envelopes (if they are cards)
instructions with video walkthroughs online
ink spots
Basically all you need is scissors and adhesive! (See, now you get why I said they make great gifts!)
Here is what we got for March:
And check out what my downline, Angela McCormack made with it!!!
If you aren’t in love, then you are a tough crowd!
Here is the video that went with it showing how to make the project:
You can cancel at any time or skip a month whenever you want…. so why not give it a try? You know you’ll be excited to see that awesome orange box in your mailbox next month.
Ok, so don’t wait! You only have until midnight MOUNTAINTime to get your order in and pick up your favorites. And then the will be gone and possibly not to be seen again (unless you earned your way to my Sale-a-Bration Celebration, in which case you make be lucky and have one last chance )
And if you’ve been thinking of making the plunge into the awesome world of being a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator (or just have a wishlist that is over $100), I would LOVE to have you join my growing group of Fun n’ Crafty stampers from across the US! This weekend I needed to make some more thank you cards for Stampin’ Up orders this month. I really appreciate all my customers and stamping friends who support me and my business, and so I like to send them a card they can use themselves (so if you get a card from me and wonder why I wrote my note to you on a post-it note, now you know!)
I was looking around for inspiration and came across this card by Glenda Calkins and I just LOVED the color combination and knew I had to make my own! So, here is what I am sending out to anyone who orders from me this month!
Tips for making this card:
First up, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this color combination. If you haven’t tried it already, you should. Especially since we only have a couple months left with the fabulous Coastal Cabana!
Use the Crazy About You bundle (save 15% off too when you get the stamp set and thinlit at the same time!) to use this same card design for almost any sentiment you want! Birthday, thank you, Mother’s Day, Easter, you name it! The fun combo of the die cut word with the stamped sentiment keeps it interesting.
When cutting out your word with the thinlit die, it will come out so much more easily if you put a piece of wax paper between the thinlit die and your cardstock! Best trick ever!!
The Oval Framelits give you a perfect die cut for your focal point and a nice mat around it by just going up one size in framelit.
Adhere your patterned paper from the Sale-a-Bration Best Year Ever designer paper onto your Sahara Sand cardstock, and then wrap a piece of Coastal Cabana ribbon from the Sale-a-bration Best Year Ever accessory pack making sure to only glue the ends of the ribbon. When you leave the middle of the ribbon unglued, it lays more nicely and lets you take a second piece of ribbon and slide it under your first ribbon and tie a knot. So, you get a perfect faux bow everytime.
And just in case you want to make your own, here are the dimensions:
Card base – 4 1/4” x 11” folded in half Sahara Sand cardstock – 4” x 5 1/4” Best Year Ever striped designer paper – 4” x 2 5/8”
Don’t forget, this designer paper and ribbon are while supplies last and only available until the 31st with your $50 order! So, don’t miss out!
