2018 OnStage Display Stamper Project Idea Submission
I’m super excited to be traveling to OnStage Live for the Stampin’ Up 30th Anniversary party! Almost 10,000 demonstrators from around the world are going to be descending on Orlando, Fl in November for 3 days of celebration and excitement as we see the newest upcoming spring releases. This year, they are inviting some number of demonstrators to be display board stampers and design ideas and inspiration for all those demos coming to OnStage. I would love to have the chance to create and share for OnStage, so I wanted to pull together some of my favorite cards & projects from recent classes and my own craft room playing. 🙂 Those of you stopping by from Stampin’ Up’s home office, thank you for your consideration!
Card Ideas
A lot of my cards lately have been about mixing and matching different project supplies from my craft room so you can see how they go together. The cards are a bit more clean and simple (I tend to either go lots of layers or clean and simple).
Ombre Sponging with the Sponge Brayer, mixed with coloring rhinestones using a sharpie and the amazing Wood Textures designer paper! It makes the perfect background for the Rooted in Nature stamp set.

Simple layers to highlight the amazing new colors – Soft Seafoam & Grey Granite with Pool Party. Plus using the Stamparatus to get perfect background stamps using the Handwritten background stamp. The leaf and sentiment are from the Tropical Chic stamp set. Finally, I used my favorite Grey Granite texture weave ribbon for a bit of texture. Because everything is cuter with ribbon and/or embellishments!
This last card was showing how mixing and matching embossing makes for awesome effects! I stamped some and heat embossed extra of the background dots from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. Then we layered over it some circles that had been embossed with the Hexagon Dynamic Embossing Folder. Add on a glittery die cut and simple sentiment and you have a card that wows in person!

Scrapbook Layout 12×12
I love using patterned paper to create scrapbook layouts and layering them to make my photos really stand out! I wasn’t too sure at first about the Tranquil Textures designer paper but it was just the right look and colors to go with this photo of Caitlin at the beach. The extra embossing with the sneak peek Corrugated Dynamic Embossing folder was a fun touch. Plus it is soooo easy to make longer than 6″ pieces look continuous with this embossing folder. It is going to be a must-have from the upcoming Holiday Catalog.
Though I just have to show you a close up of the page title! I did gold foil backed die cut words from the Sunshine Wishes thinlits. And even created my own “my” by cutting up another “sunshine” and gluing them together!
3D Projects
Gift card holder, designed to look like a pretty present! Mixing the August Special – Stitched Seasons framelits with the sneak peek of the upcoming Merry Christmas to All stamp and dies bundle. Plus the awesome Cherry Cobbler double stitched ribbon and Red Rhinestones from the Annual catalog. 🙂
Inside the gift card holder box!
And a gussied up Silver Mini Gable Box. I did this at an event to show people how the Support Ribbon dies and matching Ribbon of Courage stamp set are for more than just support cards. Most people didn’t even realize these flower and leaf dies were in the set! An easy way to make a perfect favor box.

Quick and Easy Halloween Treat Bags – Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop
I’m so excited to be getting back to blogging and get started by sharing a fun and EASY project ideas as part of the Fun n’ Crafty Stampers Blog Hop this month! Though I haven’t been blogging for a while, I have been doing lots of creating for my local classes, retreat, and demonstrator training event – all of which have taken place in the last month or so. So, when it was time for a blog hop with the theme Fall and Halloween, it was the perfect kick off to get back into sharing here with you!
Easy Halloween Treat Bag using Gusseted Bags!
Now, I know some people are big Halloween people and make and send Halloween cards… and if that is you, I think that is awesome! For me, I love to make Halloween cards and projects, but the ones that seem to actually get the most use turn out to be anything that involves candy. Because who doesn’t love getting candy, especially when it is wrapped up all cute!
So, I came across this idea from Patty Bennett for using designer paper inside one of Stampin’ Up’s 3″x6″ Gusseted Bags to create an easy treat bag and I just had to create my own version!A
All you have to do is :
1. cut a 2 7/8″ strip of your favorite designer paper to 7″
2. score at 1″ from the top
3. Slide the patterned paper into the bag (make sure it is tucked into the back gusset)
4. add your treats
5. and fold over at the score line to seal things up!
I recommend sealing it closed by either using some Fast Fuse adhesive or simple stapling the flap down. Once you have your treats safely tucked away – and didn’t I tell you that this was a super quick and easy project – you can decorate the front as much or as little as you want.
I grabbed the new Spooky Cat stamp set and stamped the spiderweb treat tag onto a piece of scrap Very Vanilla cardstock. Then I added the Happy Halloween sentiment (also from the same stamp set) in contrasting Pumpkin Pie ink.
Now the best part is that this tag image, stamps out PERFECTLY using the Everyday Label punch! Then you can just add some black rhinestones on each side for a fun tag. I also wanted to use some of the Vintage Crochet Trim for a little fun behind it. I just taped the ribbon to the back of the tag before adhering it to the front of the bag.
These treat bags are perfect for parties or handing out to friends and co-workers
Quick, easy, and cost effective too! The gusseted bags are only $4.50 for 25 bags! Plus, you can get up to 48 pieces of the right size patterned paper from one pack of designer paper! So, one pack of patterned paper, one set of bags, and some candy and you are set for a party worth of trick or treaters!

Make an Easy Favor Box with the Lift Me Up Bundle
As I head into the week of the spring OnStage event (the Stampin’ Up! convention weekend), I have treats and gifts on my mind. I’ll be headed to Shreveport, LA with 5 of my Fun n’ Crafty Stampers group to get a sneak peek at the upcoming Annual Catalog that launches in June as well as get inspired by the great creativity and savvy of other demonstrators. I’ve never been to Louisiana before! I am excited to get a chance to adventure somewhere new and bond with my team at the same time! Spooky Fun Halloween Treat Bag–A Quick and Easy Idea!
Well, I don’t know about you, but turns out the end of summer and the start of the school year is actually a really busy time of year. Who knew?! (Probably about a billion parents out there, but this one was obliviously unaware how as your kids grow out of toddlerhood, things get crazier, and not calmer).
Well, now that we are finally settling back in our routines, I figured it was time to dust off the ol’ blog because boy oh boy, I’ve been creating some fun projects that I can’t wait to share with you. We are crafters, creating is fun… sharing with people who understand crafting is even more fun!
First off, I’m also going to let folks know that I’m also getting back into sharing with my newsletter too! In fact, later today I hope to have my next one out with a NEW free project tutorial, Holiday Catalog Product Sampler details, and more! 2016 Holiday Catalog PDF
Alright, want to see a project using new Holiday Catalog goodies? Well, let me share with you one of the projects I created for my Northwest Stamp & Share demonstrator event at the end of August. This was an event with 60+ demonstrators from the Northwest area where we share inspiration, business ideas, and just formed more community bonds. It was great. Well, I created 4 make & take projects including this one:
I used the Petite Cafe Bags from the Annual catalog as my base bag. They are cute and easy, plus they are food-safe on the inside so you can drop in any treat you have. Plus you can stamp on the front like I did with the pumpkins from the Spooky Fun stamp set from the Holiday Catalog.
Then it is just a matter of making the front cute too! I just used a couple pieces of paper and a stamp set and it turned out like this!
I had one of the new Halloween Night designer paper pieces that I cut into a 1 1/2″ strip and punched the end with the Banner Triple punch. Then I cut a 2″ strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and stamped fun halloween faces from that same Spooky Fun stamp set before punching the end with that same Banner Punch.
TIP: When making a background design with those halloween faces, put all three on the clear block at the same time and then you can treat it like one bigger stamp for faster stamping.
Adhere everything to the front of the bag and then wrap a long length of the Halloween Night baker’s twine around the top and tie a bow for a cute final touch.

And while this is fun as a Halloween back, you could easily change up the stamp set and the pattern paper to make it a Christmas or Birthday treat back. Think about what event you need a treat bag for and use the same layout and it will be perfect for any occasion!

Easter Bunny Box with the Curvy Keepsake Die (VIDEO TUTORIAL)
As I was getting ready for my Stamp Club for March, my hostess asked for some cute Easter box or place setting. Well… when it comes to cute animals and boxes, I knew just where to turn – the Curvy Keepsake Box! I had made a bunny before, but as I was hopping around the interwebs, I found a cute variation by Wendy Lee and so I had to make some tweaks to my bunny and out came this Easter Bunny Box cutie!!
The best part is that it only takes the Curvy Keepsake die and a few punches to pull together this super adorable guy. And if you want to see how it all comes together, just check out below because I have a video tutorial all ready to go for you!
But what you will need to play along is:
- The curvy keepsake thinlit die (base)
- Large Oval Punch (insides of ears and feet)
- Extra-Large Oval Punch (ears and feet)
- Owl Builder Punch (cheeks, nose, eyes)
- Fast Fuse adhesive
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
I also LOVED using the Perfectly Artistic designer paper (free for one more week with Sale-a-Bration, get it added to your order at no cost with any $50 order). The watercolor wash side was super cute, but some folks in club used the marble side and it was awesome too! Use that paper for the insides of the ears and feet… you are just layering your oval punches.
Then glue the ears to the inside of the box flap so that you can open and close the box without hurting anything and you don’t see where the ears are glued on. You just tuck them into the top slit of the box before gluing.
And I just had to add a little bow over the ears with the 1/4” cotton ribbon in Blushing Bride to make my bunny extra cute.

Make Your Own Rainbows and Pot’s Of Gold for Teacher’s Gifts
Have you ever gotten an idea for a project and you just HAVE TO make it… even if you don’t have much time or really know exactly how it is all going to come together? Well, that was the project I am sharing with you today. You see, for all that I do crafting and cards a lot… I’m not always good about making a project on-time for a specific event. So, I’m chronically late or completely miss the event like teacher appreciation day or getting Christmas gifts to the teacher before winter break. — I’m working on some systems to get better about this and will be sharing those as I get them up and running! –-
So, when I got the idea the day before St. Patrick’s day to make the gold Oreos I had seen on Pinterest lately, I just had to try them out for a fun gift for my kids teachers! So I ran to Michaels and picked up some of the Gold Color Mist by Wilton and a pack of Oreos from the grocery store. I will say, you can probably use less Color Mist if you get the Golden Oreos to start with, but if I was going to have extra cookies around the house, I wanted them to be the yummy traditional Oreos! Or the mint Oreos, those are totally the best, but I wasn’t sure if the teachers would like mint, so I went with the original style.
But once I had the cookies, they needed to be in something cute, so as I was lying in bed that night, I started thinking about making paper Pots of Gold. I brainstormed all the ways I could do it, but in the end, I realized I had about 45 minutes in the morning to make 4 of these bags, so I had to go with what was quick and easy!
Caitlin got up and helped me in the morning and we decided to use the Gift Bag Punch Board to make our base containers. I decided easy was better than most correct shape. ha ha… besides the cookies is what really mattered, right?!
I was in such a rush to finish them up, so I forgot to take a picture of what the bags… but they looked like this only without the holes in the top and in black:

I raced through making the base bags and then with a small amount of decorating, they were ready for their cookies! Each one fit a ziploc bag with 2 Oreos perfectly!
Project Tips for making these Gift Bags
These came together really quickly, but I wanted to share how I did a couple parts since I’ve been asked based on the pictures I’ve shared on my Facebook page – which you should totally join me on, by the way!
- To make the little bags, I used 4” x 10” strips of Basic Black cardstock. So you get two bags per 8 1/2” x 11” piece of paper.
- Follow the instructions on the Gift Bag punch board for your scoring and then use the Fast Fuse adhesive to hold it together! You need the strong adhesive to make sure it doesn’t come open as they are getting their goodies out!
- To make the rainbows, I did it for all four teachers in one fell swoop! Grab the Circle thinlits and start cutting out your colors. I started with the largest circle for the red and then just used each smaller circle die for the next color in the rainbow. My color choices were
  – Real Red
  – Pumpkin Pie
  – Daffodil Delight
  – Cucumber Crush
  – Tempting Turquoise
  – Perfect Plum
  Adhere the circles to each other and cut into quarters to attach to each bag!
- On the front, I wanted to add a lucky Four Leaf Clover and so I used my Pansy Punch Shamrock Tutorial to create a super easy shamrock.
- Then I just added a tag using the Notetag punch and the sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. On the back of the tag I wrote the note “We are so lucky to have YOU for a teacher!” You do have to punch the hole for the twine in the bag and the tag – I was originally going to tie this onto the cookie bag, but this just ended up seeming easier to me.
So, if you are looking for a quick gift or gift bag idea, I highly recommend the Gift Bag Punch Board! It makes things super quick and easy.
Switch it up and make a bunny on the front for Easter, or a flower for Mother’s Day! Or even put a photograph of someone special like kids to give to a parent for a birthday or Father’s Day! The possibilities are endless.

It’s a Love Thing! Inspire Create Share Blog Hop
Holy mackerel! Valentine’s Day has snuck up on me and I can’t believe we are less than a couple weeks away! Good thing is… there is still time to make your Valentine’s Day treats and cards. And yes, there is still time to order those last minute supplies and get them in time to play before the holiday! So, to get you all fired up and inspired for all the love-filled creations, I’m joining up with the Inspire, Create, & Share crew on a Blog Hop all about Love!
I’m one of 14 stops on the hop, so if you are joining me from Darla’s blog, welcome! I have a fun project to share today… a Valentine’s Treat Pouch I made as a bonus project for my Stamp Club. It is fun to make and quicker than you might think!
Jennifer’s Project Tips:
- It all starts with an adorable owl – The very first thing I designed for this project was the Owl. If you haven’t used the Owl Builder punch before, you are missing out on so many cute projects! From owls, to penguins, to reindeer, it is a super versatile punch!
  But even when you are making a simple owl, don’t hesitate to dress her up! I used the small flower flourish from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set and stamped it onto a scrap of Pink Pirouette cardstock before punching out the tummy for my owl. It is like she is wearing a pretty dress! Then punch out two of the hearts from the same punch and glue them together over her ear for instant bow. BAM! Cute or Super Cute??
- Create a custom treat holder with the Envelope Punch Board – I was trying to decide what to put my owl on, when it hit me! I could use the envelope punch board along with the cute Love Blossoms paper stack to quickly make the treat holders.
  – Start with a 6×6 piece of patterned paper (good thing this paper pack comes as a 6×6 pack!)
  – Use the envelope punch board to create an envelope. Start at the 2 5/8″ score line and score and punch as normal.on all sides (video tutorial for the punch board).
  – fold in 3 of the sides but do NOT fold and press the 4th side.
  – decorate to your heart’s content!
- Have fun with layers! I next created the sentiment – the banner stamp and the sentiment are both from the same Bloomin’ Love stamp set, but did you know? The banner has a matching framelit over in the Large Numbers framelit set! Or trim by hand. Either way works. I stamped my banner first and THEN added my sentiment. But then don’t stop there, add more layers! Try wrapping the treat bag with the Watermelon Wonder satin ribbon and then layering your sentiment and the owl.
  – Want extra credit? Keep it going! Add a gold metallic doily to the front of the bag and adhere a 2 1/2” Crumb Cake cardstock circle for a shiny backdrop.
- But what adhesive to use for what? I used a few different adhesives for this project so I thought you might like a quick guide for it:
  – Holding together your treat bag = Fast Fuse, you want something stronger than your average tape to make sure your treat doesn’t come apart!
  – Layering your Owl = 2-way glue pen, with all these small pieces you are trying to stick together, the glue pen is easy to handle and not messy with your little pieces
  – Attaching your Owl = I used one Stampin’ Dimensional to keep her in place
  – Everything else = viewers choice! Though my preference is for SNAIL or Fast Fuse, basically some kind of tape runner

Sweet and Simple Shimmery Rose Mini-Treat Bag
Sometimes you just need something simple, a way to wrap up a little gift or note to someone you care about and you want to make it prettier than those basic fold over envelopes that gift cards come in. Well, look no further than the very versatile Mini Treat Bag thinlit die! Plus it is a great canvas on which to play with some of your new tools that you may be experiementing with… like I was doing with this Rose Garden die.
I had been playing with different ways to use the Rose Garden thinlit and after having some fun with the die cuts, I needed somewhere for them to go and I was in the mood for something a little different than the usual card. Enter the Mini Treat Bag die – something useful and perfect for me to play with.
Jennifer’s Project Tips:
- Pick the perfect paper for your project – the great thing about using a die to create your treat bag is that you can pick the perfect paper to go along with your project. Normally when I’m using this die, I use patterned papers to match the season or holiday, but in this case, I wanted to keep it simple so that my rose could shine so I grabbed the slightly heavier duty Kraft cardstock for my base.
- Create a fun shadow for your diecuts – when there is a coordinating stamp to go with your die cuts, have fun creating backgrounds or neat shadows by stamping the image onto your background paper and then layering the die cut shapes on top. It looks best if you can have your die cuts up on dimensionals so that you really emphasize the shadow/3D look!
- Add gorgeous glitz with Wink of Stella! I was so excited when Stampin’ Up announced Clear and Gold Wink of Stella brushes in the Occasions catalog. They are amazing for adding fast drying glimmer to all of your projects. In this case, I LOVED how it turned out when you layered the Rose Garden diecut onto a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock. I trimmed out the rose and then use the Clear Wink of Stella brush to color in all of the showing Calypso Coral petals. It is hard to see in the picture but it is an amazing effect!
- Use the right adhesive for the job! I almost forgot, one of the big questions I get is which adhesive to use for which projects. Well, I wanted to share my recommendations for this project:
  – Holding together the treat bag – use Fast Fuse
  – Adhering the rose diecut to the coral cardstock – use the Fine Tip Glue Pen
  – Adhering the rose to the bag – use Stampin’ Dimensionals
So, give it a try! You’ll totally be glad you did!

A Howl-o-Ween Trick or Treat Bag
My kids are so excited that Halloween is just a day away – and after some last minute Halloween candy shopping, I think we are all ready to go! Now if you are looking for something fun to do for your Halloween party or favorite trick or treaters, I thought I would share this little goodie bag I put together using the fun Howl-o-Ween bundle with my oh so favorite adorable owl!
A few runs through the Big Shot and this comes together really easily. Here are some Tips for making this bag:
- Make life easy on yourself and start with the Kraft Tag-a-Bag gift bags. They are packs of 10 ready-to-go bags that are food safe for only $3.50. Perfect for stamping or embellishing!
- Pick your highlighted element – the star of the bag if you will… for mine, it was the owl from the Howl-o-Ween Treat stamp set & bundle:
- I stamped the “treat” from the “trick or treat” sentiment onto a piece of scrap cardstock and then sponged it with Delightful Dijon ink. Rip the ends of the white strip for a more interesting “rough edge” look before sponging!
- Then stamp your owl and cut him out using the matching framelit. Gotta love things that make it easy to cut out! Now, the one thing you will notice once you do that is that when you layer your sentiment over your owl, his feet are covered up! Now that is no good! But it is an easy fix!Do a little surgery on your owl by cutting him in half along the top of his tummy stripes. Then glue him to the back of your sentiment so that his arms are holding the sign and his feet are sticking out the bottom!
- And do you see his eyes? How fun are those?! Just take the White Perfect Accents and place one on top of each of his eyes, then color in the centers with a black sharpie. Easy, almost-googlie eyes in seconds!
- My owl needed a fun hat too… so back to the Howl-o-ween stamp set I went, and stamped the hat in Rich Razzleberry and then added some fun accents by adding Black Glimmer paper stars over the white stars!How did I get those stars you ask? Just grab your Star confetti punch and a scrap of Black Glimmer paper and punch away! Pick up a few of the confetti pieces and glue down using the Fine Tip Glue pen or your favorite liquid glue.
- Finally layer everything down on your treat bag including some strips of your favorite patterned papers. I used the In Color Envelope Paper in Delightful Dijon to add some stripes, then a tiny strip of Black Glimmer Paper covered by a piece of the Into the Woods Razzleberry ribbon. Seriously people! This ribbon is so yummy to work with!!
- Stamp the rest of the “Trick or” above your striped paper, add some extra confetti stars, and of course the Jack-o-lantern from the Howl-o-Ween bundle for our owl to collect his treats in!
And if you don’t have this stamp set yet… it is still worth the add! I know I’ll be using it for scrapbook pages since all the images are a really good size for layouts. Plus, I’ve already seen some fun ideas that I’m going to start playing with for using the owl and hat die for Christmas and even Thanksgiving pilgrims! So stay tuned for that!

How to Make Your Own Gift Bags with the Gift Bag Punch Board Video Tutorial (Walkthrough Wednesday)
So, I had the chance to order the new to Stampin’ Up Gift Bag Punch Board during the demonstrator preorder… but I didn’t get it. I hemmed and I hawwed. Did I really need another punch board in my life? But my Mom had one, and so I decided to give it a go. All it took was me making that first bag and I just HAD to get my own! Just the idea of being able to make all kinds of cute little bags, luminaries, treats… oh my goodness I have so many ideas. This may be this years Curvy Keepsake Die for me, now if I can just keep the kids from being too crazy this summer to give me a chance to get through making all my ideas!
However, in making my first bag, I realized that you REALLY DO need a video tutorial or someone standing next to you to help you figure it out for the first time, so I figured it would be the perfect topic for a Walkthrough Wednesday (scroll down for the video!)!
So here is my bag… isn’t he cute? I used the new Farmer’s Market designer paper… I like how you can go a bit more rustic/country style on some sides and more elegant or at least all-occasion on the other sides.
And what bag would be complete without a cute gift tag? I grabbed my You’re So Sweet stamp set (yes, made for the Mini Treat Bag dies but who says you can’t use it with other things too? Here I layered the “Just For You” sentiment for the central point of my card.
TIP: Use the Mini Treat Bag thinlit dies to cut out the center banner piece (they are made to go together!) then layer on a stamped version in a different color that you cut out by hand.
I also found that the smallest of pearls are a perfect match for the dots in the center of the flourishes above the sentiment.
Finally, when you get the stamp set, they helpfully pre-die cut the rubber for your stamps including the INSIDES of the Heart and the Star stamp images from this set.
Use the center of the star stamp to create the star over the sentiment… I used Delightful Dijon, but just be sure to stamp off onto scrap paper TWICE before stamping on your image!

So Long Flower Frenzy Die with a Polka Dot Treat Bag & Birthday Card
Last saturday was my Stamping Bingo event and it was a ton of fun! We gave away a ton of prizes including a grand prize that included 4 packs of cardstock (a variety pack of each color family), a stamp set, and ink pad! Plus, they all got goodie bags filled with product and then got to make 4 make & takes…lucky ducks! Today I’m going to share two of the projects they made using the Flower Frenzy die that is retiring this month – plus it is only $18.98 for this die that can cut paper, chipboard, fabric, felt, and tons more materials! Super useful!

Tips for making this project:
- I started out by giving everyone 2 half sheets of cardstock – both 4.25” x 5.5” – one each of Basic Black and Lost Lagoon. With those, they were able to cut out all the flower pieces from the Flower Frenzy die.
- They used the Polka Dot treat bags (only $1.98 for 10 bags right now!!) and started layering some patterned paper, ribbon, and then some of the flower pieces!
- Did you know? These treat bags perfectly fit your standard A2 cards inside?? So they can be for treats or a gift of cards!
- The scallop circle looking flower is created by taking two of the skinny petal flowers and using a glue dot to stick them together with the petals offset.
- Finish out the center of your flower using a Candy Dot brad base and your favorite Neutrals Candy Dot.
- Use the 2-way glue pen to easily and without mess adhere your skinny pieces like the leaves and the star shaped flower piece.
Now, they had extra flower pieces, so I had them create a card too!
We just used a strip of the Moonlight designer paper stack – only $3.48 for 48 sheets while supplies last! – and then layered on some extra pieces from the Flower Frenzy die.
Add a sentiment and a little rhinestone to the corner and you are done! A quick and easy card!
