  • Black & White with Gold Daddy’s Love Scrapbook Layout & a Card using Winter Wonderland designer paper

I know, I normally post cards here on the blog, but I also love to scrapbook as well.  Not only is it a fun way to get some of my favorite photos off the camera or computer and somewhere where I’m more likely to see them, but it is also a great way to use some of your favorite papers and elements you have lying around your craft room.  For today, I have another idea for both a card and a scrapbook using the Winter Wonderland Specialty paper for non-holiday projects.  First up, my favorite – the scrapbook layout!

See!  This paper pack is such an awesome black & White & Gold theme, that you can use it for just about any project.  I had some black & white photos from when Caitlin was a baby that I thought would go perfectly with this paper pack – and make it easy for me to have fun with the other random stamps and elements I had around my craft room, that I could just have fun and play with pulling this all together.  The only thing was that this paper is a bit glossy, so it was hard to take a picture that wasn’t too shiny. Smile

One of the first things I did was layer some of the Black & Gold stripe pattern over the black & white dots paper.  I let the Gold frame my photo and decided to keep the rest of the layout simple and stick to neutrals for my color palate.  Thankfully the Tip Top Taupe ribbon was just a perfect touch of neutral AND delicateness to balance all the bold feelings of the gold.

Then I added some Metallic Sequins to the corners of my photo to pull in the metallic and shine from the paper subtly into the photo area and framing even more two of my favorite people in the picture.

Once the photo was in, I started playing with other elements for my page.  I started with one of the Project Life Grid Cards to use as a base for my journaling area, but sponged the edges in Crumb Cake to “dirty” it up and go for more of the vintage look.  I did a similar trick for the strip of newsprint by grabbing a scrap of Typeset designer paper and crumpling it up.  Then I used my sponge dauber to add some crumb cake in to the crumpled paper so it wasn’t so stark and new either.  Then I looped some Gold Thread behind my strip of paper to fill in some of the grid card space.

To finish up my title, I used my Alphabet Rotary Stamp to stamp the Daddy’s Love and then just cut around the words with my snips.  I just plopped them down over the thread with some dimensionals… and done!

Then I moved on to adding some more elements, from some hearts punched using the Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack on a Circle from the retired Wooden Elements, to some layered banners with Satin Ribbon and the sentiment from the Amazing Birthday stamp set.

It actually came together very quickly and was fun to play and mix and match all my elements from my craft table. Smile

Now, if you aren’t so much into scrapbooking, let me just say this paper pack is great for cards as well.  Check it out:

See, the white and gold make really pretty backgrounds for your everyday cards too!

    Fun notes for this card:

    • The corrugated cardstock makes great elements pieces.  Like in this case, I cut a 2” strip and then just used my Scalloped Tag Topper punch to make the cute end and voila!  A perfect background piece!
    • Use the precision plate when cutting out your words from the Greetings Thinlit, especially when you are using the gold foil paper… you won’t get the polka dots from the die showing through on your word!
    • Use the bird builder punch to create some easy leaves to come out from behind your flower. Easy, peasy, done!
    • When stamping the flower, get a cool mottled tie-dyed look by inking up your stamp with Daffodil Delight ink.  Get it nice and covered – but don’t stamp it yet!  Then grab your Melon Mambo ink and add some color by daubing the pink into onto the inked stamp using a sponge dauber.
    • Finish it off with a bit of baker’s twine for a cool pulled together card.

  • Speedy Scrapbooking with Seasonally Scattered

I realized this weekend that I haven’t done traditional scrapbooking in what feels like a long time.  And I really do miss it!  So, after I get all caught up with the samples for my next few events, I will be for sure doing more scrapping.  And I may just have to plan a cropping day too… anyone want to join me?

Today’s share however is a page I created for the Stampin’ Up convention display boards using the new Seasonally Scattered stamp set from the Holiday Catalog (which I’m finishing mailing out this week, so if you need a copy, let me know!)

    Tips for this project:

    • Keep it quick by using the designer paper packs, like the Moonlight pack here, and just overlap full sheets of the paper to make your background.  No cutting means fast designs!
    • Use up your ribbon scraps by trimming the ends and then adhering them in a group behind one of your layers of paper.  I mixed 1/8” Taffeta in Melon Mambo and Satin Ribbon in Hello Honey & Blackberry Bliss.

    • After stamping your sentiment in Melon Mambo and then outline the letters of the stamped image in a contrasting marker – in this case Blackberry Bliss.
    • Use vellum for a subtle way to add journalling to your project without the journalling block dominating your scrapbook page.
    • Add a few sequins for some bits of color and shine along the top of your page.

The fun part about scrapbooking is that you get to enjoy the memories while you are working because you are looking at your pictures… plus you get to have fun will all your tools and techniques as you build your page.  It is like a really big card to play and experiment with!

Scrapbook even faster with Project Life!  If you have tons of pictures you want to get documented but don’t feel like you have time to scrapbook, don’t forget to check out Project Life.  All you need is a few essentials:

  • Trying out Project Life By Stampin’ Up – My First Layout

I know by now it is old news that Becky Higgins (creator of Project Life) has partnered with Stampin’ Up to create exclusive lines of Project Life cards, accessories, and even a corner punch.  I had been just starting to get into Project Life when this announcement came out and I was stoked!  Especially because I would now be able to have cards that coordinated both in patterns and colors with stuff I already had in my stash! So, here is the first layout I put together using my new goodies: Everything in this layout is from the Everyday Adventure kit and accessory pack.  Can I just say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea of an accessory kit!  Maybe someone else does it out there, but I haven’t seen it with the Becky Higgins kits and We R Memory Keepers card sets.  Why do I love them?  They give me a little bit of lots of awesome bits to embellish up my cards and I don’t have to think about what I have that would match.  See? image

    Everyday Adventure Accessory Pack

(Do you notice a theme?  I love kits and don’t like having to think about which things match. Smile  Seriously, I love scrapbooking kits that come with paper, embellishments, and die cuts because I know I have a little bit of everything to put my layouts together!) So anyway, for the most part, I just used the cards from the Everyday Adventure card kit and then I may add on or two little accents to a handful of them.  Like in the close up below, you see that card in the upper right?  It looked exactly like that (minus my journaling of course) and I just added a bit of the blue washi tape along the top as a bit of trim. And then, of course, the green arrow and black letters that spell “maple classroom” are stickers from the accessory pack. Oh and that bit of orange at the bottom of the green card?  That is a little acetate (think window sheet) colored piece from the accessory pack.  The doodling look on that card?  Totally printed on, thank goodness! Smile And as my last trick, I used some of that same blue washi tape again to layer a 3×4 PLxSU card  (I’m just going to use the PLxSU to make it less typing when I’m trying to say Project Life by Stampin’ Up… sound ok?  Ok, cool!)  Anyway, I layered a 3×4 PLxSU card on top of a 4×6” PLxSU card and stuck with Washi Tape for a fun layered look.  And if you can’t read it, the quote says “Everyday is a new Adventure” which I thought was PERFECT for this layout because it was about Nicholas being a in a new class at school.  His new adventure. Stampin’ Up! Supplies Used

And let me say, I’ve been using these cards for MORE than scrapbooking as well.  I made some cards and other fun non-scrapbooking/non-card projects using them for the display boards for convention… so I can’t share them until July, but I’m SO EXCITED to be able to share them then!

–>>  Plus, stop by the Stylin Stampin Inkspiration blog for even more great ideas for the PLxSU kits (there are 5 different ones available!)  See all the great ideas here

I hope this gave you some ideas and you can give it a shot yourself!

  • Happy National Scrapbooking Day! Ideas for Using Your Scraps

Happy National Scrapbooking Day! Ideas for Using Your Scraps

Once again, I had a totally different post to share with you today when I realized that it was National Scrapbooking Day today!  It is a day to take an extra excuse to sit down with your crafting supplies and create! Especially when you can do it with friends.

Join me with in celebrating National Scrapbooking Day by creating something new today and posting it on my Facebook page by tomorrow night.  I’ll even have some giveaways for folks participating!  More details below.

    chevron punch scrapbooking page

I lately have been getting back to the idea of scrapbooking as a great way to USE UP SCRAPS!  You know… emphasizing the scrap in scrapbooking. Smile  Like in the page above, I had been playing with the idea of using the Chevron Punch to create a lattice.  So I had A TON of extra chevron punch outs and thought I ought to try to use them.  Thus a custom border for my scrapbook layout.

Yes, I’m still in the middle of this page, so title and journaling still to come; but you get the idea!

Or like I had this pile on my desk recently after getting ready for a card class.

    scrap pile for scrapbooking

I was getting ready to recycle a lot of the paper pieces and thought, there has to be a way to use them in a scrapbook layout.  So, using only what was on my table and two 12×12 pieces of designer paper, I set to pulling something together.

No photo in mind, but this is what I came up with:

    scrap scrapbook page

It was a lot of fun and a great way to use up what I had left from other projects.

So, break out the paper and have a great time!  And if you do have a chance to create today, take the time to share it.

Create & Share for Fun & Prizes

I’m so excited to see what you come up with, so I’d love to see what you create!  Share a picture on my Facebook page and I’ll pick at least one person at random to get some scrappy prize from me. Smile

Stampin’ Up Display Stamper 2014 Submission

So, every year I go to the Stampin’ Up convention… and every year I’m blown away by the amazing ideas and inspiration on all the different display boards.  (To see what I’m talking about, here are a few past posts I’ve done showing the display boards.)  Well, this year they are doing a call for display board stampers and to throw your hat in the ring, you need to pull together some of your best/favorite projects and put them together in one post to show your style and ability.  So, I thought it would be a fun way to flip through my past projects and put them together to share with you here.  And maybe they will love them too and I’ll get to share even more ideas on a display board at the Stampin’ Up Convention 2014!

oh, and PS – if you love the idea of checking out all the display boards, don’t forget that anyone who joins Stampin’ Up as a demonstrator right now will get free registration to convention this summer!  So, you just get yourself to Salt Lake City, and you can be blown away by inspiration for FREE!  Yay!  Email me at jennifer@nwstamper.com for more details if you are interested or check out this page to learn more about the perks of being a demonstrator!

Or maybe it is just that these photos always make me smile!

Ok, this is where I don’t make and post nearly enough.  So here is what I decided was the nicest from things I actually designed myself – instead of flat out copies of what other people had created. Smile

  • A Sweet Spring Scrapbooking Layout & Some Cards

A Sweet Spring Scrapbooking Layout & Some Cards

Ok, it is officially the next to last day for Sale-a-bration.  So, as promised, I’m sharing my last few projects using my Sale-a-bration freebies.  I realized that the Sale-a-bration flyer doesn’t do the best job giving you a feel for the different stamps and papers so hopefully seeing them in person gives you some ideas for what you like and how to use what you have!

First up, a sweet scrapbook page that took me about 20 minutes to complete!

Seriously – only about 20 minutes, if that!  And that includes the journalling. Smile

Sorry the photo isn’t the best… I’m still trying to figure out the best way to photograph 12×12 layouts (if you have any tips, PLEASE leave me a comment and let me know what you do!)

Ok, so here is the real reason why this came together so quickly – it is made up of entirely scraps!  Aside from the button, and cutting down the Calyspo Coral designer paper for one of the photomats (from a scrap).  Everything else on the page is used exactly as is from my scrap pile!

Alright, I did a little sponging… but NO CUTTING!

I guess sometimes saving those scraps and die cuts is a good thing.

This page is for Caitlin’s first (and so far, only) time getting her hair done in a salon.  She barely lets me brush her hair and so trying to attempt a braid is a little too ambitious.  Smile  So I wanted to capture the moment when I had the chance!

    Stampin’ Supplies used

And I have a few extra cards to share with you today as well.  Just some bonus inspiration!

I love the Vivid Vases stamp set and turns out it kind of works with that crazy pattern from the Sweet Sorbet designer paper (can you believe this pattern come from the same pack as the paper used in the scrapbook page above?)

And then there is this super sweet and simple card I was given by Holly Jones:

This uses the Petal Parade stamp set for the focal flowers and then a simple small circle punchout of Silver Glimmer paper for the centers!

So, hope these gave you some ideas and I’ll be back tomorrow with two more simple ideas to finish out your Sale-a-bration season!  Smile

  • Stamped Scrapbook Pages on a Kiwi Lane Designs Blog Hop

76834_10152085028263232_1279811947_nI have a fun blog hop for you today and it is something a little bit different!  My friends have gone a little fan girl over Kiwi Lane and their designer templates.  Basically they are plastic templates that you can use to help design your projects by layering them on your base paper to decide what you want it to look like before you actually cut into your paper!  So, when I was offered the chance to play with a set and participate in this blog hop, I jumped at the chance.

    Wanna see what I made?

Aren’t they cute?!  I swear these pictures make me smile every time I look at them. 🙂

So, what am I showing off her in this layout besides my cuties?  Three things that are really fun to play with:

    1. The 12” Borders Clara Lane templates from Kiwi Lane.

See all those waves – I totally traced them and, yes, cut them out.  But don’t they add some nice whimsy to the page? I actually started out this page by laying out a few of the templates on a piece of designer paper to get an idea for how I wanted to put it together:
clara lane kiwi lane templates sample

Then I just had to pick my papers, trace, and cut.

    2. Perfect Pennants Stamps from Stampin’ Up

Have I mentioned how much I love the sentiments from this set?  Plus I had to use the border/pennant element stamps to add a little bit of something extra next to the photos.

And even the heart next to my favorite little guy!

(psst – I even used my rotary stamp to date the page!)

    3. Watercolor Wonder designer paper from Stampin’ Up!

This is one of those sets of paper that I kept thinking was really pretty, but never actually got to cutting into it…. well, fixed that problem!  I loved the colors and decided to go for it on this page.

And while you can’t see as much of them on the first page, I figured I decided I wanted to do something with the remaining “scraps” of paper that was left over after I cut out my waves for layout 1 and so I whipped together layout 2!

I just took my leftover designer paper and thought it would make a great edge to a scrapbook page.  I layered them together – Don’t Gasp! – I’ll admit, I cut off the bottom two layers so I could save a ton of the paper for future projects, but I liked the pattern on top for a background for my page.  Then I layered all the waves over another piece of patterned paper (Soft Sky pattern from the paper stacks) to complete the look.

Here are a few of my favorite touches I wanted to show you up close on this one:

    • Wood starburst accent from the Essentials Wooden Elements
    • Mix and match Washi Tape adding some pop behind my photo
    • Some Natural trim ribbon
    • And if you look REALLY CLOSE, you can see my faux stitching I did along the edge of the wave.  It is actually pretty subtle on the final page in person as well, but gives just a little extra something.

So, what do you think? Fun, right?

What I loved, I was able to pull these two layouts together in ONE naptime!  Yup, the first layout took me more of the time, but then the second one using the scraps just came together. I think I have the fun templates and the cute paper patterns to thank for that.

  • Quatrefancy Window Sheets for Scrapbooking

Stylin Stampin Inkspiratin DT badgeOk, so I know I promised to share some projects with the Christmas Star single stamp today… but that was before I remembered that today was the Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration’s scrapbook sketch for the month!  I love playing along with sketches and I don’t scrapbook nearly enough…. so design team duties came first today.  But, I do have my Christmas Star projects and post ready for you… it is just moved to Wednesday now.  I promise this time. Smile

But, I still have a fun project to share today!  The amazing Jennifer Campbell put together a great sketch this month and I love it because it was so easy to put together an interesting layout with it.  In fact, this page came together from looking at the sketch to done in less than an hour!!

    September Scrapbook Sketch Layout

September 2013 SSI scrapbook sketch layout

I have a stash of photos that I know I want to scrap that I got printed at Costco a couple months ago, and so I grabbed the pile and started flipping through until I found the perfect photos I wanted to scrap.

It was so special to me this year at convention that I had a group of downline who were able to attend with me and share the awesome experience.  And it was so fun to have some friends to cheer with, lounge with, or just share ideas we saw or heard around the convention center.  I really am lucky to be able to call these gals my friends!

Once I found the pictures and looked at the sketch, I knew I wanted to recreate the group bag tag for my main embellishment.  I used the Fun Flower die to create the same shape, added the Fancy Flower punch, and then a 1-1/4” circle punch out of designer paper.  Then, instead of our group name, I used the Banner Greetings hostess set to create my sentiment and as a throwback to the banner shape in the original sketch.

My other fun variation was to use the Quatrefancy window sheet that comes with the Quatrefancy Specialty designer series paper.  This is one of those papers that often you look at and think,” how in the heck am I going to use this?”  Well, I loved the subtle pattern effect it gave and thought it would be a great accent to pull out the pattern from the Convention backpack we received this year.  Since the pattern was the same, it was a great way to tie together the photos, designer series paper (from the same pack) and the background paper.

Using window sheet papers this way is great because it is EASY to figure out adhesive.  If nothing else, you have a HUGE piece of cardstock (from your photo mat) that will be covering up parts of the window sheet strip, and so you can happily put adhesive in that area.  And in this case, I decided to layer some Pear Pizzazz taffeta ribbon over the top, and so I could also run a strip of adhesive across the window sheet to glue it to the base cardstock and then just adhere the ribbon over the top of the window sheet to hide the glue.  Sneaky, huh?!

So, there you go.  A fun, easy sketch and some ideas to get you started.  If you want to play along and try it out yourself, you can use the sketch above and then hop on over to the Stylin’ Stampin’ Inkspiration blog to add your finished photo to the Linky there.  Or just visit to see other great takes on the basic sketch.  Have fun!

  • Stamping with an Embossing Folder for a Scrapbook Sketch

Happy Monday!  Today over at the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration blog, we are sharing a fun scrapbook sketch idea.

I didn’t create the sketch, but let me tell you how much I LOVE designing off of sketches.  It makes the scrapbooking process so much easier for me because I don’t have to think too hard about the set-up of the page (or card!) and instead can focus on things like which color do I want to use and what should I write in my journaling.

Oh, and did I mention that my layouts are typically like my cards…. I start from a sketch or design, pull in key elements, and then totally change everything else up.  But hey!  It’s the inspiration that is important – and the fact that I’m actually getting my photos in an album!

You may be wondering how I got that honeycomb look on my base paper for my scrapbook…. well, check this out… I used my embossing folder as a stamp!!!

Seriously, its totally cool!  First I wiped my ink pad across the raised side of the embossing folder to ink it up.

Then I just flipped over the embossing folder and pressed it down like I would a stamp!  I liked the distressed (didn’t get all the ink down on the paper) look, so I didn’t worry about evenly pressing and getting it all off on the base paper.

Then for my accents, I created my own layered ribbon banners in the upper corner.  I took some of the Strawberry Slush Ruffle Trim and the Natural Trim ribbons and layered them.  Then snipped the ends at an angle.  Then to soften it even more, I use the Flower Shop bundle to get the simple flower to go on top.

Finally, I needed a title and ended up actually cutting out my letters using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz dies in the same Wisteria Wonder as the background paper.  But that was a little too tone-on-tone and so I drew around the outside of the letters with my white gel pen to make them pop a bit more.

I would say that it worked!  And look at that face… isn’t Sweet a good title too?  Smile  Ok, I really didn’t know what to title these too pictures but I loved them so much that I had to scrap them somehow!

So, I hope you got some inspiration!  Play along and create your own scrapbook page with this sketch and let me know what you think!

  • Scrapbooking Sunday: This Paper is not just for Valentine’s Day!

When I first saw the More Amore Designer Paper and the Hearts a Flutter stamp set I had Valentine’s Day on the brain.  And in fact I originally got both for a Valentine’s Day treat class I was holding earlier this year.

But as I started going through pictures and wanting to scrap this picture from Leadership convention with my mom, I saw the quote printed on the paper and thought it would be just right.

    The quote is

A loving heart is the truest wisdom – Charles Dickens

Perfect for a picture of my mom who flew out to Orlando, FL with me from Seattle, WA to share the learning and excitement of Leadership and my first time being eligible to attend Manager’s Reception.

So with my base paper chosen, I started adding embellishments and it turned out the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and framelits fit my mood just right.

I grabbed some scrap fabric from the retired Springtime Vintage collection to add textured borders instead of my usual paper layering.  Then I tucked in some banners I cut out using the coordinating framelits.

For the journaling block, I just created an extended photo mat with Very Vanilla paper to give me space for my writing and then added some stamping and a little bit of ribbon to separate the journaling from the picture.

It turned out to be a fairly quick layout but one that I love for the great memories it captures!

  • Scrapbooking Sunday: Layering, Misting, and More!

I’ve been trying to start up scrapbooking classes each month… partially because I wanted to have some balance in my classes and also because I am dreadfully behind on my scrapping.  So, creating layouts for a class forces me to get some extra pages done!

So, this month, I ended up turning to the Tea for Two suite from the Spring Catalog as my inspiration in creating two 12×12 pages.  I designed them so they could stand alone or be a two page spread.

Layout #1: Best Things in Life

So, this page is designed with the Basic Grey pieces to be mats for 4×6 photos – that means once you drop in your pictures there will a little grey mat plus the Old Olive mat behind that.

My favorite embellishment is this layered flower above the photos:

I took one of the Tea Lace Doilies (one of the best deals in the catalog! You get 24 doilies for only $2.95) and I sponged it with a sponge dauber and Calypso Coral ink.  You just have to be careful that you don’t rub too hard or you will tear part of the doily off.  Thankfully, in this case, you can tuck the yucky part (like I did!) under the grey photo mat.

Then I stamped the flower image from Betsy’s Blossom and punched it out with the 1-3/4” Scallop Circle punch.  For the top layer, I used one of the new Designer Build a Brads to create a cute topper.

Now, here is the trick – I snipped off the brad tines from the back of the Build a Brad!  Then stick your brad into a Stampin’ Dimensional and stick it to the front of your embellishment.  This raises the brad up off of the photo mat so you have room to slide your photo underneath!

I also thought it needed something in the upper corner so I used Besty’s Blossom again for the bird and leaves.

And I used this great sentiment from the Feels Good stamp set for my title.  If you are wondering about the shape I used for the title block, it is actually the largest of the Labels Framelits that I hung off the corner of the page and then snipped away all of the extra.

    Layout #2:  Misting Fun

This is the second layout we created.  I’ll try to go fast since I know this post is getting totally long. Smile  This page was my “play with all the tools on my craft table” layout.

First I started by misting the corners of my base paper.  I started with Whisper White cardstock and then spruced it up by making my own So Saffron mist.

    ***************************

To make your own mist, add some rubbing alcohol to one of the Stampin’ SpritzersThen add a few drops of your favorite re-inker to the mix and shake it up.   I would add about 10 drops of reinker for about every 1/4 of the spritzer bottle you fill with alcohol.

    ***************************

Then I used my Color Spritzer and my Calypso Coral marker and spritzed over the So Saffron mist with Coral splatter.  It adds just a touch of coral to the page without jumping out at you.

Finally a few more touches… I used some of the Pool Party Core’dinations cardstock (sanded down of course!) to accent my photo mat for my 5×7” photo.  Then I cut out more of the images from the Betsy’s Blossom stamp set for a corner embellishment, which is also popped up on dimensionals so you can stick your photo underneath.

Finally I had to grab some of my new This and That items to finish it out.  The rotary date stamp for the banner label (I wasn’t sure which picture I wanted to use so I left the date blank) plus some washi for more color at the bottom of the page!

Whew!  Ok, made it through all those photos!  I just love scrapbook pages though because you can use all your different papers, tools, and accents to make one big cool design.

So hopefully this gave you some new idea and I’d love to hear what you think about these pages.  I love hearing what you think in comments, so if you have a minute please leave a comment and let me know what you think!

  • Scrapbooking Sunday: Scrapping with Washi & the This & That Line

Last week, I got my This and That bundle and finally had a chance to sit down and start playing with it all.  So, this is the first project I created with it:

    this and that scrapbooking layout

The full collection (which I had to grab since you get 15% off if you get it as a bundle) includes:

    • 12×12 designer paper
    • 4 pack of stickers
    • 3 rolls of washi tape
    • rotary date stamp
    • spiral bound journal with embossed cover

I had a bunch of friends who had gotten into the washi tape craze and I even had a couple spools of it but I was still trying to figure out how I was going to use it.  However, it seemed to get easier for me as I started playing around with this layout.  The first place I used it was for making a border at the bottom of my blue designer paper and then I layered a second pattern of tape to highlight the photo above.

Then I ended up using the 3rd pattern of washi tape at the top of my page as an accent over the top edge.  You’ll also notice the rotary date stamp on the journaling section.  You pick your sentiment and the date, ink, and stamp.  When I stamped, I wanted to add a little something else, and turns out a mini brad fits perfectly between the sentiment and date.

I also wanted to use some of the stickers that come in the collection.  I knew I was going to use the journal with most of the stickers but I decided that these chevrons (which are each individual stickers) would be a good color accent on that side of the page.

So, overall, I wasn’t sure what I thought of the heavily distressed look of the papers but it turned out when used together they look great.  Especially when you are using black and white pictures.

Finally, I wanted to share something that I didn’t realize when I ordered the journal.  I knew that each page in the journal is designer paper in nice base patterns (no big words or overwhelming elements), but I didn’t realize the first and last page were pocket pages.  Plus inside the front pocket were tucked 2 pocket pouches that can be glued in anywhere in your book (or other projects)

I still can’t decide whether to use my journal for carrying with me to record the random funny things my kids say and do, or if I want to use it for all the inspiration I see for projects and designs.  Kind of like an offline Pinterest!
