  • Scrapbooking Sunday: This Paper is not just for Valentine’s Day!

When I first saw the More Amore Designer Paper and the Hearts a Flutter stamp set I had Valentine’s Day on the brain.  And in fact I originally got both for a Valentine’s Day treat class I was holding earlier this year.

But as I started going through pictures and wanting to scrap this picture from Leadership convention with my mom, I saw the quote printed on the paper and thought it would be just right.

    The quote is

A loving heart is the truest wisdom – Charles Dickens

Perfect for a picture of my mom who flew out to Orlando, FL with me from Seattle, WA to share the learning and excitement of Leadership and my first time being eligible to attend Manager’s Reception.

So with my base paper chosen, I started adding embellishments and it turned out the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and framelits fit my mood just right.

I grabbed some scrap fabric from the retired Springtime Vintage collection to add textured borders instead of my usual paper layering.  Then I tucked in some banners I cut out using the coordinating framelits.

For the journaling block, I just created an extended photo mat with Very Vanilla paper to give me space for my writing and then added some stamping and a little bit of ribbon to separate the journaling from the picture.

It turned out to be a fairly quick layout but one that I love for the great memories it captures!

  • Origami Double Pocket Treat Pouch

    Happy Valentine’s Day!

If you are still looking for a quick love note or treat to share with someone you love today, here is a project we made at my Cool Cards and Sweet Treats class last weekend.  It is a fun and fast project to make any time of the year, plus it has the added bonus of being a great way to use up all that extra designer paper or 6×6 paper pads you may have lying around.

I call it an “origami treat pouch” because it is all folds and takes no adhesive unless you want a little bit to tack down the top point of your treat.  But unlike some origami that is a ton of steps and little tiny complicated folds, this has 5 score lines and a couple quick folds and you are done (check out my video below for how to do it).

Added bonus, it stands up on its own too!

I filled my pockets with wrapped Ghirardelli squares which are a perfect fit but you can also make cute little love notes to go inside as well.  You can cut 8 of these card bases out of 1 sheet of cardstock.

The card base is 2 3/4” x 4 1/4”, so once you score it, it is 2 1/8” x 2 3/4”.  I kept my card simple so that it could actually slide behind the chocolate treat I tucked in the pocket.  It uses the Oh Whale stamp set and just stamped the whale first and then the hearts and sentiment.  Add a little Dazzling Details to its eye and you have some cute sparkle to his eye.

Want to see how it is done?

I put together a quick video to show you how it scores and folds together.  So check it out and let me know what you think!

    Did you know?

This goes together so fast using the Diagonal Scoring Plate for the Simply Scored and you can get that plate FREE during Sale-a-Bration!  With a $50 order, you can pick any one item for free and this is one of the things you can pick from.  Pretty sweet, huh?  Smile

  • It’s the Week of Love!

Yup, its Valentine’s Week and so now is the time to finish up those Valentine’s that you totally meant to make and then got busy and never did.  Not that that would describe anyone writing reading this blog, right? hee hee

Well, to kick off the week, I wanted to share a card that I received as a swap at Leadership last month.  It uses one of my favorite “love” stamps because it is so understated and pretty cute – the tree from Easy Events.

    card created by Diane Eichfield

I was finishing creating the cards and treat boxes for my class this last weekend and as I was almost done with the design work, I ran across this stamp.  I couldn’t easily work it into my projects for the weekend, but I wanted to remind others like me out there that have this set to pull it out!

It is perfect for watercoloring or just using your markers like Diane did.  Add to it the More Amore designer paper and a few embossing folders and some cute just exploded all over your card.
