  • NW Women’s Show Day 1– Few Supplies, Great Cards!

Yesterday was the first day of the Northwest Women’s Show and the first of 3 days of presentations I’ll be running on the Home Style stage!  It was a lot of fun and I’m excited to go back and share different projects for the next couple days.  But I thought I would share the first set of projects we did on Friday:

    Fri samples copy

The whole idea of the presentation on Friday was that you didn’t need a lot of supplies or a lot of time to make some great cards!  I sketched four layouts and my upline, Kathy Thisted designed these fun cards using the sketches and a limited the amount of supplies:

    • 5 colors of ink:  Wisteria Wonder, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, and Basic Grey
    • 4 colors of cardstock: Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade, Melon Mambo
    • 1 pack of patterned paper: Flirtatious designer paper
    • 2 stamp sets: Mixed Bunch, Sincere Salutations
    • 1 punch: Blossom punch

The top two cards in the photo above were all about using a few colors of ink and a little bit of cardstock, you could make some pretty cards that would be unique each time you made them.  Then the second two cards showed how you only needed one package of designer paper and one color of cardstock and a punch and you could make even a variety of more fun cards!  My presentation lasted 30 minutes and I fully demonstrated all 4 of these cards… so a cute card doesn’t need to take very long to make!

Have questions about these card? Drop me a line at jennifer@nwstamper.com and I’d be happy to help!

Now, we picked these colors because they said “Spring!” but if you were starting from scratch, you could swap out some colors and use Stampin’ Spot mini ink pads and be up and running with only buying a few things:

Plus don’t forget!  Right now is Sale-a-Bration time and so if you ordered these items you would receive additional free stamps, paper, or embellishments – making the number of card options even bigger!

If you are in the Seattle area, I’d love for you to stop by my next couple presentations!  I’ll have a door prize drawing as well as show specials all weekend long!  I’ll be there for:

  • Scrapbooking Sunday: Mixed Bunch Color-blocked Page

So, this is my last weekend to prep before the big Northwest Women’s Show here in Seattle.  I’m grateful to have the opportunity to present a crafting demonstration on their Home Style stage on each of the 3 days; so I’ve been trying to square away exactly what I’m going to demo.  Well, this is one of the projects I’m planning on showing on Sunday (please forgive the awful photo):

I saw a layout by a crafty friend of mine named Brettaney Q, who is a super talented scrapbooker, and was inspired to scraplift from it for the show this coming weekend.  She was so nice to give me permission and I love how my version turned out thanks to her inspiration.

I changed things up because I was using all Stampin’ Up! supplies and it was fun to get to pull out and play with all my tools!

This layout ended up being all about texture as I cut my strips for the color-blocked bottom of the layout and ran them through my Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  And on the top half of the layout I stamped with the Mixed Bunch stamp set with Versamark and embossed using clear embossing powder.  I added some Wisteria Wonder bakers twine along the middle which softens it all a bit.  And then I played with my Mixed Bunch stamp set and the matching Blossom punch to make the flower next to my photo.

Oh, and the last thing I did was add a simple title to my page.  I again reached for my Big Shot and grabbed my Timeless Type alphabet sizzlets, and cut it out of Rich Razzleberry cardstock.

I love how it turned out and I hope the visitors to the Women’s show enjoy it too!  I’ll be showing them this project on Sunday along with a matching card using the same layout for those of you who aren’t scrapbookers. 🙂
If you’d like to come visit me at the show – I’ll be presenting at the following times:

    • Friday 3/2 at 3:30pm on the Home Style Stage
    • Saturday 3/3 at 3:00pm on the Home Style Stage
    • Sunday 3/4 at 11:30am on the Home Style Stage

I’ll be demo’ing for about 30 minutes and have a display table next to the stage with more samples, information, and of course a show special!  I still have a lot to do but I think the show will be a lot of fun.  Hope you can come say hello if you are local!

  • Scrapbooking Sunday: Mixed Bunch page

Since the end of last year, I’ve started to get on a scrapbooking kick.  I realized that I had a lot more fun and was much faster with scrapbook pages when I started from a sketch and so I started playing along with some sketch challenges.  This was a page I created based on a sketch by the very talented Kristy Lee.

Normally, I am one of those people who try to jam a million 4×6 pictures onto a 12×12 scrapbook page; so the idea of only having one picture is definitely outside of my comfort zone.  However, I loved this picture and it stood alone well for the story (Nicholas getting his first tooth) that I just went for it.

It also meant I had lots of space to fill with other elements on the page.  So I grabbed my new Mixed Bunch stamp set and matching Blossom punch from the Occasions mini and am pretty sure I used every stamp in the set!

I punched and popped up the flowers with varying heights to add some dimension to the page.  And then I added some extra accents for fun – a brad here, some dazzling details on the Tangerine Tango center of the white flower (hard to see in the picture), and some Crystal Effects on the green flower thing.

You can also kind of see in this picture how I had fun sponging the letters for my title.  I busted out my Big Shot to cut them out but thought white was too stark.  So, thanks to the awesome color matching-ness of Stampin’ Up papers and inks, I was able to pull in the colors of the papers by sponging the coordinating inks across the letters (well, I actually sponged the paper and then cut out the letters, but you get the idea).  This was a new idea for me; and I’m definitely going to have to do it again.

  • A Mixed Bunch Thanks

See, I told you I was back and blogging… this is 2 days in a row! hee hee

Well, between the holidays (and being way behind on my thank you cards) and just being so grateful for my customers, downline, and online crafting friends who have been amazingly supportive while I’ve been dealing with a new baby instead of posting.  So, I have “Thanks” on the brain.

This time, I pulled out a couple more fun new stamps.  First, the Mixed Bunch stamp set from the Occasion mini – and of course, it’s matching blossom punch!  Then for the sentiment I used the FREE Outlined Occasions stamp set from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.

Its been crazy with snow and freezing weather here in Seattle, so I needed a bright and cheery card right now.  I think this fits the bill nicely!  Plus it can be very relaxing to just sit and color in an image (in this case the “Thanks” using my blender pens and inks).

So, check out an example of why Sale-a-Bration is so cool:
