  • The Convention Swap that Made Me Need the Alphabet Rotary Stamp

~~ LAST DAY to Shop the Holiday Extravaganza ~~
~~ Join Stampin’ Up with me & pick out $125 in any catalog or sale items to receive for only $74.25!~~

With all the hub bub about the Online Extravaganza, I was looking through the list and seeing the things I loved and the items I totally wanted to grab.  For example, the Alphabet Rotary Stamp.  I had seen it in the past and didn’t think much of it, but now that it is 50% off Today ONLY, I thought I would share the card that got me super excited about it.

This was a convention display board card by Jeanna Bohanon that I received as a swap card this last summer.  I’ve totally been meaning to share it but thought now would be a great time.  Can’t we all use a little sunny rainbow in our day?  I also love how complicated it looks, but how simple it is to create!  My kind of card!

    Tips for making this card:

    • Heat emboss your image (in this case the LOVE from Seasonally Scattered) with white embossing powder.  Then do some quick coloring with your Stampin’ Write markers over the top of the embossing powder.  The dye-based ink will not stick to the embossed image, letting the white show through.
    • Add your own sentiment touch by using the Alphabet Rotary stamp!  It gives you 13 spaces for numbers, letters, or characters including these cute hearts.  You can add spaces too so you could make it be more than one word.  It is a perfect way to add your own touch to sentiments on your card.
    • Add some scraps from your craft table, like some Black Chevron Ribbon (or pick one of the colors that is on sale today for 50% off too!), some Brights buttons, twine, or even that cute 1/8” Silver Taffeta ribbon.

I can’t wait to play with my rotary stamp and have fun making lots of customized sentiments for my cards and scrapbooking!

Reminder – Today is the last day for the starter kit deal and the chance to get 25% off all your purchases in December including new Occasions Catalog items and Sale-a-Bration 2015 items!

  • Quick & Easy Thank You Card with Stampin’ Up Blendabilties

Quick & Easy Thank You Card with Stampin’ Up Blendabilties

Today over at Stylin Stampin’ Inkspiration, the girls are sharing Quick and Easy cards.  Now, you know me… I LOVE quick and easy stuff – it is my go to style for cards.  Well, most of the time anyway.  So, I thought this card would be a perfect contribution to the theme:

I had the chance to play with the new I Like You hostess stamp set because my mom recently earned it.  ~ side note, it is SO awesome when you have a nearby family member who loves crafting as much as you and gets different stamps and dies as you! ~

Anyway, I thought this set would be perfect for using with Blendabilities (don’t forget, they come out TOMORROW!!!)  I not only used them to color in my flowers, but I also used them to color in my pearls.  Yup, that is right, double duty!

    You can color:

    • Pearls
    • Rhinestones
    • Ribbon
    • Clear Buttons

Just to name a few.  All you have to do is pick your favorite colors and go at it.  In this case, I used the medium and light Daffodil Delight Blendabilities markers.

And just to add some depth, I cut out one of the set of flowers and popped it up on dimensionals.  I promise, it is still quick… and easy.  The nice thing with the white paper base and for the raised image, you can be imprecise with your cutting and no one will notice!

Finally, I had made a promise to myself that this year I’m going to use more designer paper.  I love it all and end up hoarding it so that at the transition of catalogs, I have a TON left over and of course want all the new stuff.  So, I’m working to use what I have and enjoy it!

In this case I used the Moonlight Designer Series Paper stack and then added some texture by using the new Daffodil Delight cotton ribbon.  It is so soft and flexible to work with.

You can make this same card with whatever you have in your stash.  So whip up a bunch of quick thank you cards to have on had and enjoy that paper!

  • The Wow Factor of Coloring on Natural Composition Specialty Paper!

The Wow Factor of Coloring on Natural Composition Specialty Paper!

Have you experienced the coolness of the Natural Composition Speciality Paper?  Once again, I have another project that I can’t believe I haven’t shared yet and my favorite part of it is how the Natural Composition paper makes it look!

I created this card for a class last month and was playing with a few of my favorite things:

    • Core’dinations cardstock – I used the Pool Party core’dintations cardstock and ran it through my BigShot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  Then I sanded off the top of the dots to help them pop a little bit more.
    • Petite Petals stamps & punch – I have to admit I’m totally falling in love with these little flowers!  And the fact that they are so easy to punch out is just awesome!
    • Gold Baker’s Twine – Turns out it just always is the perfect touch of subtle sparkle on your projects.  It took me months to start using it but now I LOVE using it!
    • Perfect Pennants stamp set – the sentiment is my favorite sentiment from the Occasions catalog!
    • and finally – Natural Composition Paper!

The Natural Composition Specialty designer paper does not look very special in the main catalog and in fact, just about everyone I have in class that uses it tells me that they didn’t think it looked interesting in the catalog but they love it once they try it.  Because you can do things like this:

So, the thing it it is a stiffer cardstock that looks a bit like cardboard or a stiff kraft cardstock.  But then on one side of the paper there is a clear embossed pattern.  So you can do cool stuff like sponging or coloring!

In this case, we colored over the flower images with a Real Red marker and after it starts soaking in a little bit to the paper, it will wipe off the embossed image and you get a really cool defined image.  Don’t you think?’

You can do this with any color or ink (if you want to sponge it) and it is pretty fool proof.  You can’t really mess it up.  Got to love that!
