  • Fun & Easy Birthday Card with Banner Greetings

imageWhat do you think of when you see a stamp set that is full

of stamp images that look like flags?

Well, I imagined banners, but don’t ask me why, but I never thought to make little flags with it.  But, thank goodness for other creative stampers out there!

My mom created this card and when I saw it, I thought it was a brilliant way to use these stamps!

She stamped the Happy Birthday image twice (once in Island Indigo and once in Tangerine Tango) and then cut them out and attached them to the ends of toothpicks.  Voila!  You have adorable flags for your projects!

tip: to adhere the banners to toothpicks, I recommend using the Tombow Liquid Glue along the straight edge of the stamped image.  You can also leave some extra white paper to the left of the stamped image and roll that around the toothpick to create your flag as well.

And yes – you have to cut these out by hand.  Sorry. Smile

Tuck them behind a piece of the Natural Trim ribbon and you can’t even see the ends of your toothpicks and the tape or glue you had to use to adhere them to your card front.

    Card Supplies Used:
    Stamps – Banner Greetings
Ink – Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango
Paper – Tangerine Tango cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Quatrefancy specialty designer paper
Accessories – Natural Trim ribbon, toothpicks

  • Guest Stamper: Make Your Own Fabulous Backgrounds

I have a Facebook group for my Stampin’ Up! team where we share ideas, support, and projects we’ve been working on.  Well, this was one of the cards that Elise Hamilton posted in the group and we were all blown away by how cool the background looked on her card!

So I asked her if she minded if I shared this with you all since I thought it was a great idea.  Here is her card:

    Keep Calm card

And seriously, who doesn’t love cupcakes? Smile

So, I loved how she used the Keep Calm hostess stamp set (available through Monday June 3rd only!) and then made her own background paper to compliment the cupcake colors.

When asked how she made it, this is what she said:

“I took a paper towel and grabbed ink off of my ink pad and then began to swipe it over the whisper white card stock.”

    How easy is that?!

So grab a paper towel, your white paper, and some ink and give it a try!

  • Mixed Medley Hanging Christmas Wreath Card

Thanks to everyone who sent their good luck wishes or stopped by my Stampin’ Up! booth at the Seattle Creating Keepsakes Convention!  It was fun to set up as a vendor this year though it turned out to be quite the eventful weekend with my entire family getting taken out suddenly by the stomach flu.  But everyone made it through and life is getting back to normal – and I look forward to having some new crafting friends in the future from the show. 🙂

Well, today I thought I’d share a card we made in one of this year’s Christmas stamp-a-stacks.  Each month we have been doing a different set of cards and this was one of the first.

    Merry Christmas hanging wreath card

The designer series paper makes it look a little like you are looking out the window to a snowy forest to me, do you see it?

Merry Christmas hanging wreath card close upThen we made a “wreath” to hang on the bottom part of the card.  We started by taking some Cherry Cobbler baker’s twine and gluing the two ends together and under the Cherry Cobbler cardstock so that you have a loop on your card front.  Then use a Stampin’ Dimensional to glue down the twine where the wreath will be – because you are using a foam dimensional, you can make the loop spreadout so that it looks kind of like a triangle…. does that make any sense? 🙂

Basically make your loop of bakers twine look like a teardrop and stick the dimensional across the fat base of your teardrop to hold it in place.  Then cover up your dimensional with your stamped images from the Mixed Medley hostess set.
