  • Daydream Medallions Convention Make & Takes

Every year at the Stampin’ Up! convention, they give us a ton of projects as Make & Takes.  Some, I think are really cute while others are soooo not my style.  But I have to say, this set of cards using the Daydream Medallions stamp set, from the first day of Make & Takes were some of my favorites!

We were making four 3×3 cards and using a coordinating wheel to decorate our envelopes.  I thought these cards were a great way to show how you can mix and match the different medallion stamps to make totally different looks between your cards.  That is one of those design ideals that I love playing around with but can take a while to really break out of the box and create new ideas (and speaking of boxes, don’t miss the box we decorated for the cards at the end of this post).

These first two cards, I shared with folks who attended my Convention Roundup event.  Everyone seemed to have a good time making these cards to take home.  I don’t know why, but I particularly love the bling in the pink stamped medallion ring in the “always” card!

And here is a close up of the other two cards we made at convention.  These are super cute designs but they really go together best if you are using your Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Finally, we decorated one of the kraft boxes to be storage for our cards.  Now, here is the ingenious thing…. the Daydream Medallions stamp set includes the solid circle rubber cut outs from the middle of the bigger circles.  So, even though they aren’t “official” stamps listed on the box for the stamp set…. they are still stamps!  So we used them and stamped with Versamark on the sides of the box to create this:

    Cute, right?

Alright, well I just spent this last weekend visiting Portland and participating in a 36 hour road rally/scavenger hunt that went non-stop throughout the weekend.  So, I’m a bit beat!  It was an amazing event with beautiful Oregon sceneries.  Maybe I should create some scrapbook layouts with those pictures!  But first, sleep!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend as well and a scrappy, crafty Monday!

  • Simple is Pretty – Fancy Florets Card

You know how at holidays and birthdays, you agonize over what to give someone as a gift and you worry about if they will like it or not?  But then at the same time, you can be given just about anything and you are super excited about it?  That is what today’s card made me think of! 🙂

As I mentioned a few blog posts ago, I do a monthly card swap with the gals in my Fun n’ Crafty team.  And each time I’ve had to create a card, I wonder if it is interesting enough… does it look nice, etc.  And then I receive this card from my fabulous downline, Pam Wu.  It is so simple, yet very cute and vibrant in person!

    card created by Pamela Wu

I love how she used the new in-colors (Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green) and the Fancy Florets stamp set to create her own designer paper and cute look.

I wanted to share this card with someone else and while I was getting it ready, I thought it would be fun to grab a piece of the matching Raspberry Ripple stitched satin ribbon and just simply tie it around the end of the card in a knot.  I thought it worked well too.  What do you think?

    So, thank you, Pam!

I love the card and the reminder that you don’t have to go over the top to create a great card!

  • Gate Fold Card with a Window

I thought I’d share another card that we created recently in my Fun Folds class.  I had first done this card style for the folks in my Cards to Go program in June but thought it would be a fun style to do in my class here this month.  So I switched up the colors and paper to make this card:

I often do the gate fold card when I am showing different folds option, but I liked how this card has the fun window in the middle to “peek a boo” to the inside of the card.  In this case, I just layered the two different sizes of Scallop Circle punches and the Button Buddies stamp set.

Oh, and in case you are wondering about the designer paper – it actually comes from the Twitterpated designer series paper pack!  I would never have thought to look for a pattern like this in that kit but I was flipping through and it just jumped out to me as perfect!

And if you are interested in getting project kits or instructions mailed to you each month for fun new cards

  • Quint-Essential Workshop Card

I recently had the opportunity to go to my friend Katie’s house to share a card and the new Stampin’ Up! products with her friends.  It was a fun evening and it gave me some motivation to pull out my new Quint-Essential Flower stamp set and play with some different color combinations.

So, if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I LOVE punches and was hooked on the Triple Treat Flower from last catalog.  So, when I saw the Quint-Essential flower and the fact that it is less than $10 for the stamp, I knew I had to have it.

The cool thing is that with this stamp, you can use 5 different punches with this stamp for some fun layers.  So, far I’ve only done 3 layers, but I’m going to go wild and do all 5 soon.  Smile

I CASE’d this card from a similar design from my friend Annie Lee but switched up the stamps, colors, and ribbon.  Isn’t it fun how you can get inspired by a card and end up with something similar and yet completely different.  I put together the color combination – Crumb Cake, Wisteria Wonder, Gumball Green (quickly becoming my my new favorite green!), and Summer Starfruit.  Turns out to be a nice springy combination I think!

The ladies enjoyed the stamping, punching, and Big Shot-ing … I can make up that word, right?  So, try it out yourself and let me know what you think too!

  • Party Pinwheels and In Color Floral Fusion

Last week was my new catalog preview party and after I put out my  catalogs, samples, and door prize, I decided I needed some more decorations.  So, I thought it would be fun to make some pinwheels with some of the great designer series paper I had lying around.  These are so easy to make – all you need is a square of paper, a brad, and a straw!

Do you like how I have them standing up too?  🙂  See, us crafters are creative!  I grabbed shot glasses and unpopped popcorn – perfect!

Next I thought I’d show you the card we made as the make and take.  I wanted to show off the new In Colors and the amazingly awesome In Color stitched satin ribbon.  This card was inspired by a card by Pam Steckman, but I loved how the Floral Fusion Sizzlit die was perfect to show off the colors.  I just curved up the flower petals to help them pop off the page.

I used each of the In Colors and then put a rhinestone in the center for some fun bling.  Then we added the satin ribbon and then stamped with the new Midnight Muse ink the sentiment at the bottom of the card from the delightful dozen stamp set.  It’s a simple card but packs a punch!

Hopefully the girls enjoyed this card as much as I did!

  • Betsy’s Blossom with Some Glitter and Bling!

Every year, Stampin’ Up! holds an Artisan Award contest where demonstrators from across the US and Canada can send in their best work in the hopes to be select to win free product and a chance to be on the Stampin’ Up! design team for the next year. I sooo wanted to apply this year but having a baby that doesn’t go to bed until midnight and a toddler who is up by 8 didn’t give me as much time as I hoped to get the 5 cards, 3 scrapbook pages, and 2 3D projects done. So, I missed the deadline this year but that just means I can show you some of the projects I was experimenting with when I thought I might still enter. 🙂

This was one of the first cards where I started playing with a bunch of my new goodies!  I had the new Besty’s Blossom stamp set and the new Gumball Green stitched satin ribbon highlighted in the card (get your sample of this ribbon in my ribbon share!).

But then I took the big flower image and got a bit fancy with it!  I covered it with glitter but then decided I needed to accent the center, so I used my Boho Blossom punch to punch out a flower shape out of the center of a second stamped image of the flower.  I glued that to the center of the glittery flower and then added one of the new faceted buttons as the center point.

It was hard to try to get a pic of the faceted button. 🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with more cards to share!

  • 2012 In Color Bookmarks

I’ve been so spoiled because I’ve had the last week to flip through my new Stampin’ Up! catalog and play with some of the new papers, stamps, and even the new style of ink pads!  But I also made sure to spend time this week gearing up to share the love as well. Smile

I finished up these little bookmarks that show off the new 2012-2014 In Colors and included one in all of the catalogs that I sent out in the first batch of mail this week.

    In Colors 2012 bookmark

I wanted to do something special for my customers as a thank you and since I know that it can be hard to tell what a color really looks like in real life when you are looking in a catalog, I thought these might be a fun way to see what the ink and cardstock look like.

In Colors 2012 bookmark close up

Each one shows off the Gumball Green stitched satin ribbon (which I’ve decided I LOVE this new satin ribbon!  I was so depressed about losing the current satin ribbon but now I need all of the new satin ribbon instead!); as well as a Primrose Petals flower, Summer Starfruit flower, Midnight Muse flower, Gumball Green flower, and Raspberry Ripple flower.  Ends up being a pretty set, huh?

Wish you had a 2012-2013 Stampin’ Up! Catalog too?

I’d be happy to make sure you have a copy…because isn’t it more fun to look at the glossy pictures than squint and try to look at photos on the computer?  Fill out my catalog request form so I know where to send it and I’ll get you one as soon as I can!

    Request your catalog here!

I hope those of you who are receiving these bookmarks in the mail this weekend enjoy the taste of some of the new goodies to come starting in June!
