Playing a Bit with Stamping on Vellum

What is that item in your craft room that you completely forget about and then when you find it, you suddenly remember how cool it is? For me, I always do that with vellum! I never think to pull it out, but when I do, I have the best time with it.

Take today’s card for example:

It is simple card, but the vellum gives you a way to add a little extra pop without worrying about finding the exact right color designer paper. Its like a frosted window in a way. Smile

Plus, don’t you love this message? I need to make something for my desk with this sentiment reminding me to everyday live the life I want to be living, not doing the same old thing wishing things were different. I love my life but I know there is always room to grow and make things even better!

Another Print Poetry Idea

Today is the LAST DAY to RSVP for our Print Poetry stamp camp or sign up for a kit in the mail. So, I thought I’d share one of the cards we created as an idea for the event but ultimately didn’t make the cut for the class this time (though I know I’ll be using the design in the future!)

This uses the Lacy and Lovely stamp set plus the Print Poetry designer paper and notecards & envelope set. It is super fast to make and cute to boot!

One tip for this card is that for the doily image, I stamped in Crumb Cake ink on a piece of scratch paper first and then stamped on my card. This gives you a lighter image so that the sentiment can really stand out.

Sweet and Simple Card with Just Believe

Today is another quick post because I need to get my rear in gear and finish up my swaps for Regionals this weekend and finish prepping for my Christmas Card stamp-a-stack on Sunday! The paper and dimensionals will be flying around my craft room today! 🙂

But this is a card that we made in my Build your Stash card class earlier this month and everyone seemed to really enjoy it, plus it is really easy to take this design and switch it up with different stamps and colors you have at home.

We used the Just Believe stamp set for everything on this card. The leaves on the right side of the card were stamped with Certainly Celery ink onto the Certainly Celery cardstock. Then for the flower and grass image, we just used Certainly Celery and Pink Pirouette markers to color them in. Add some Soft Suede for the trim and the sentiment and it’s a nice subtle card that can be used whenever you need it!

Alright, well, back to the craft room I go! If you try this card out yourself, I’d love to see what you come up with! (I’m curious what everyone does with the design!)

Everyday Enchantment CASE

Last night was my Creative Card night and it was the perfect opportunity for me to try out a few different card ideas that I had been wanting to play with. One of those ideas was to play around with a design by my downline, Pam Wu. She had made this very cool card using the Sale-a-Bration Everyday Enchantment designer paper and framelits, and so when I was trying to create something for my class; it was the perfect place to start. In the end I changed things up a bit, but its clear the inspiration came from her!

I loved her idea for using the Everyday Enchantment brads in the center of the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch. I also really liked how the designer paper looked with the scallop trim border punch on each side of the paper. So I started with those elements and went from there. I had wanted to play with the organdy ribbon that came with the Everyday Enchantment brads and so I wrapped it around and through the scallop trim.

Finally, I had the hardest time deciding how to do a sentiment (though I think it would look just fine without one). I ended up pulling out my Curly Cute stamp set and getting a little creative. Because the words are so close together on the stamp, I used a marker to color one word at a time and stamped them spaced out on my cardstock. Then I could cut them out with extra padding around the words and sponge the edges to help them blend.

A Clean and Simple Holiday Card

When I was at the Stampin’ Up! regionals in Portland, I saw a demonstration that showed how cute a scalloped edge could be on a card. I got inspired by the example and started playing with a card layout that has evolved into this design which I really like.

I have made this design in the past using Whisper White cardstock as the base with Cherry Cobbler accents but I had some scraps lying around and so went ahead and tried it with Soft Suede. It looks really nice in person (better than I think it shows in the picture). The other thing I vary with this card – in this example I used a strip of Soft Suede cardstock for the string the ornament is hanging on, but when I used a white base, I really like using Early Espresso narrow taffeta ribbon.

World Card Making Day Projects–Part 2

Like I mentioned earlier this week, at my World Card Making Day event, I brought supplies for everyone to make cards based on two different layouts. I shared the first layout in a previous post and so I thought I would share the second layout today.

So, here is the card that I made as a sample:

It is a super quick and easy card and it lets you feel like you are an artist (even if you are like me and can’t paint or draw worth anything Smile ) by giving you space to color using markers and/or water coloring.

So, given those card components, here are some of the cute creations the other folks came up with:

this is another example of why I love it when folks take my samples and do their own thing. I love how she tucked the sentiment label between the designer paper layer and the scalloped edge. It’s a different way of layering I probably wouldn’t have thought of on my own.
