  • Fringed and Fabulous Birthday Card

Today, the design team over at Stylin’ Scrappin’ Inkspiration decided to do a post sharing ideas using the upcoming Sale-a-Bration items (if you have no idea what that means, Stampin’ Up has a promotion every spring – this time starting January 28th – where for every $50 you order, you can pick any item in this special catalog to get free with your order; which is what we are playing with today!)  And since I wanted to play along, I dug through my limited stash of Sale-a-Bration goodies to come up with a fun project to share.

So today I have another “Little bit of this and that” style card to share –

It all started with the pair of fringe scissors on my desk and a vision of this super duper great fringed card that my downline, Stacey shared in our team facebook page.  I took the inspiration of layered fringing and started grabbing what was lying around on my desk.

This included a card base that got ink and spots on it at a recent card class:

    IMG_3986

And the plan to use my fringes to cover it up… because darn it… it is still a totally usable card base!

So, I grabbed some scrap paper and started cutting and layering.

Then I needed something for the top – so Washi to the rescue!  Yup, I used the Gold washi tape and the Gingham Garden washi tape.  Mix and match away!

Where is the Sale-a-Bration stuff you ask?

All in the top of the card!

First up, the super cute sentiment from a new See Ya Later stamp set (and yes, it has a sentiment that says “See Ya Later, Alligator”!  I had to color it in with markers because, well, I just did.

And then see that flower and those diamonds?  More SAB goodies!

These are the Sweet Sorbet self-adhesive cork embellishmentsI will warn you – this isn’t your kiddos adhesive.  I stuck one of those diamonds down and when I decided I wanted to move it, it was NOT going anywhere!  I had to carefully slice it out of my card using scissors to get it to move.  So, word to the wise, they are great embellishments, just make sure you have it where you think you want it before pushing it down.

    Stampin’ Up Supplies Used:

Stamps – See Ya Later (free Sale-a-Bration item)

Ink – Sahara Sand, Markers: Early Espresso, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Daffodil Delight

Paper – Whisper White, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Sahara Sand, Coastal Cabana

Accessories – Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack (free Sale-a-Bration item), Gingham Garden washi tape, Watercolor Wonder washi tape, Fringe Scissors

  • Houston, Here I Come!

So, I had plans to write a cute blog post about leaving on my trip… then just a plain project post before I left…. and then I was packing and getting everything ready for my husband to be able to get the kids to school and daycare while I’m away and suddenly it was time to go to the airport and no blog post was up and ready!

But while sitting at the airport and trying to work with unbearably slow internet connections, I managed to photograph a card my mom made for me and gave me right before I left.  Smile

So, while I fly to much warmer temperatures in Houston, TX, here is a card for you to enjoy!

    so very grateful sab card

Again, this is the super awesome So Very Grateful stamp set and some sneak peek paper from the upcoming Sale-a-Bration promotion.

I’ll be back tomorrow with some projects and a blog hop while Leadership kicks off.

    *  Want to stay in the know with the latest announcements from Leadership, make sure to follow my Facebook page

    *  I’ll try to summarize and share the details of the day each night here on the blog, so check back Thursday morning for the full scoop.

See you on the other side!

Ok, now back to the last Send Off this week – Pretty Petites and the Petite Curly Label Punch!

    Pretty Petites

Now, I’m a total sucker for stamp sets that have matching punches.  So when I saw I could get the stamp set AND the punch both free during Sale-a-Bration…. I’ll admit those were my very first items ordered!

Wanna see some of the ideas that I came up with or I was swapped at Leadership?

Psst! Did you notice the ink spots on the lower right corner of the card?  Know where those are from?  It is one of the stamps in the My Paper Pumpkin welcome kit!  Just because those stamps are exclusive to that kit doesn’t mean you can’t use them on other projects, right? Smile

Here is the close up of the stamped images:

And this awesome birthday card I received as a swap from Lisa Althouse.

    Cute, right?

So, now I’ve highlighted Petite Pairs, Vintage Verses, Madison Avenue, and Bloomin’ Marvelous.  I know I skipped Feelin Sentimental, but I somehow managed to miss getting that set.  But if you want another idea, I loved this one from Lori Reid:

So, you’ve gotten lots of ideas.  Leave me a comment and let me know which set or sets are your favorites?

As I’ve been doing all week, everyone who leaves me a comment will be entered into my blog candy giveaway!

I hope you had a great Sale-a-Bration and got all the goodies you were hoping for.

  • Sale-a-Bration Send Off: Vintage Verses

Ack!  Can you believe TOMORROW is the LAST DAY for Sale-a-Bration?!  I swear I always find my groove and my love of a stamp or scrapping product right before they are discontinued or become hard to get!  Turns out this is one of those sets.

Yup, I’m talking about Vintage Verses

    Vintage Verses stamp set

You see, I had grand ideas for this stamp set…. oh the projects I was going to make with it.  The cool techniques that would be perfect to use with these stamps.

And then life got in the way.

So that brings us to now when I pulled out the stamp set again for one last hurrah before the stamp set goes away for good and turns out it is awesome!

My favorite sentiment is the “There’s Only One You” which I LOVE for scrapbooking.  If you saw my Sunburst Scrapbook Layout then you may have noticed I used this sentiment as the title for that page.  But here are some other ideas you can try with this set:

I just had to try out the Chalkboard Technique with this stamp… anyone interested in a video on this technique?

I received this Butterfly Thanks card from my awesome friend and downline, Pam Wu, which in turn inspired my trying out coloring in the letters of the Thanks in my cards I’m sending out for orders placed this month:

This last card using the Spec-tacular Single Stamp that I thought was the coolest stamp.  I was going to do a whole blog post on it and this card but I wanted to share how cool it goes with the Vintage Verses sentiment so I’ll just have to do another card with this stamp later.  (And just a heads up – the glasses single stamp is only available through 3/31)  So, if you love it, grab it now!

I seriously can’t pick a favorite from these cards and sentiments…. too much fun!  If you had to pick which is your favorite?  Leave me a comment and let me know and you’ll be entered into the drawing for this weeks blog candy.

And stop back by tomorrow for my last Sale-a-Bration Send Off!  I’ll be focusing on Pretty Petites for our let set of shares.  Smile

Well, then I started seeing the samples and I had a total change of heart!  Smile  So, here are some ideas you can try if you decide to pick up this set:

And my absolute favorite because it feels so fresh and summery to me:

    Patterned Occasions Stamp Set

This stamp set has 5 different images to cover a variety of sentiment and card need

    image

I shared with you a cute way to use the elephant stamp set yesterday with my Baby Scrapbook Layout and so here are some quick card ideas using the other stamps in the set.

I also used the Sycamore Street designer series paper and the Sycamore Street ribbon as well as accents on many of these cards.  I was going for few supplies and a good variety of cards.

(Ok, so in reality, I wasn’t actually trying specifically to show cards with fewer supplies, but instead had to grab supplies out of my craft room quickly so that the baby could be put to bed in my craft room before I was finished with my cards!  So, I just grabbed a few items and then made a variety of cards using what I had managed to grab. Smile )

And if that wasn’t enough, let’s have more fun with some giveaways!

  • Scrapbooking Sunday: Using Stamps as Accents on a Baby Page!

I know it is St. Patrick’s Day and so I should be posting something green, but I finished this scrapbook page for my daughter and just had to share it with everyone for this week’s Scrapbooking Sunday!  So, you can virtually pinch me but I hope you enjoy the ideas for this weeks layout.

I’ve been trying to get through some of the recent backlog of photos I printed opportunistically and then never got scrapped.  Smile  This is one of the photos from right before we left the hospital after she was born.  I may not look my best, but it is one of the few pictures of I have of her and me and so I’ll love it no matter how I look.

This whole layout actually started with me wanting to use the elephant from the Patterned Occasions stamp set exclusively available during Sale-a-Bration but to use it for a baby scrapbook page.  So I grabbed my Pink Pirouette marker and started coloring the elephant and making an elephant parade.

One thing I noticed is that the markers are so juicy and the pattern of the elephant is so intricate that extra ink gets caught in the spaces so it wasn’t as crisp of an image.  But I didn’t care and couldn’t be bothered to try again using a post-it note to mask the stamp itself.

But then I tried again using a mix of colors for one more fun elephant accent.  This time I left the flower in the image and cut it all out.  I accented it with a 1 1/4” scallop circle punched out of Pink Pirouette cardstock.

Finally, I needed a little more something at the top of my page and my Hearts a Flutter stamp set and framelits was exactly what I needed.  I just adhered my baker’s twine across the top of the page and tucked my banners under the twine where I wanted them.

I even like the Summer Starfruit designer paper from the Sale-a-Bration flyer (Sycamore Street designer paper) as my background even though initially I was not a fan at all of this pattern. Smile

Don’t Miss the Start of Sale-a-Bration Send Off Week! Giveaways and more!

Don’t forget that this is the last week to get your free stamps and accessories as part of Sale-a-Bration.  To remind you (and me!) of the fun ideas and projects you can make with the different stamps and accessories, I’ll be holding a send off celebration here on my blog all week capped off with a Sale-a-Bration Send Off Party on Friday.

All week you can get entries for prizes and drawings!

So, come back tomorrow when it all kicks off and you can start celebrating and winning with me!

Get your collector card for your free stamp stickers here

    Photopolymer (Completely Clear) Stamps

So, this is the big news of the month!  Stampin’ Up! is offering a trial run of a new Photopolymer stamps.  Designer Typeset Photopolymer Stamp Set - Stampin' Up!

When Stampin’ Up! came out with the clear mount stamps they were the rubber stamps with cling foam because many of the completely clear stamps were made with acrylic or silicone that do not stamp or age well at all.  If you have any old clear stamps that have turned yellow or gotten tacky or gummy, you know what I’m talking about.

But Stampin’ Up has found a method of using photopolymer material to create these clear stamps that they say will give you a great impression and allow you to see where you are stamping.

This is a trial run and so right now there is only one stamp set and it is the one you see in the picture above.  I am getting my set next week, and as soon as I do I’ll post more details and try to put together a video so you can see how they work. Smile

    Check out the flyer here

Completely Clear stamps from Stampin' Up!

If you can’t wait to give them a try, the set is only $13.95
Check it out in the online store here

  • Sycamore St Scrapbook Layout: Great Grandparents

Some incredibly talented girls I know started a paper crafting challenge blog a year ago called The Paper Girls Challenge Blog.  They post challenges twice a month for fun and (sometimes) prizes.

Well, I was so honored to be asked by them to be one of two guest designers this month – so I totally know what cool challenge is coming up later this month… and no, I’m not going to tell you.  hee hee!

Anyway, today is their first challenge for February and it was:
    Use Twine in Your Project!

    Ta da!

Now, their challenge doesn’t have to be for a scrapbook layout – I could have done a card.  But I do cards all the time and I figured I needed the extra challenge. Smile

So, I decided to show some quick and easy ways to use twine.  I grabbed my Island Indigo Baker’s Twine and wrapped some around all four sides of an 8.5” x 8.5” piece of River Rock cardstock.  Then I tucked some pictures under the twine – I was going for the “memo board” look.  So parts of the pictures are over the twine and some are under.

Thanks to my amazing foresight, I made sure to dress my daughter in a brightly striped shirt so that it would match great with the new Sycamore St designer paper that you can get free from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.  Ok, so this picture was from May 2012 and I totally lucked out, but I’ll take it!

I also wrapped some twine around the “G” in “Great” at the top of the page, but of course realized late last night that the top of the picture is a bit blurry.  Oops!  So, trust me, it is wrapped around the “G” and looks cute.

TIP:  If you have alphabet letters that you think are starting to blend into the background of your page like mine were.  Grab a marker (in this case, my Island Indigo Stampin’ Write marker) and with the fine tip, trace around the letter on your page.  It gives the letters a subtle border that really helps it pop!

Think you have a cool idea for using twine or just want to try to use the twine you have sitting at home?  Visit The Paper Girls Challenge Blog to see more inspiring ideas and then create your own project and add it to the challenge list.  I’d love to see what different ideas you create!
