Quick Spring Easter Treat Bag Tutorial with Punch Art Daffodil!

Happy Easter weekend! I don’t know about you, but we still need to do a lot of our prep for Easter.  Today we’ll be spending time coloring Easter eggs – and I’ll be making sure I have everything I need for Easter baskets and Easter dinner!

(PS – don’t forget to enter the Retirement List Prediction Contest!  It is free to play along and you could win up to $30 in free Stampin’ Up products!)

So, back to Easter treats!  I thought I would share a quick spring or Easter treat idea that you can pull together at the last minute!  This was created by my Mom, Kathy Thisted, for our Fun n’ Crafty team Stamp & Share a few weeks ago and I just love it.

Scallop Tag Topper & Punch Art Treat Bag

There are lots of fun elements to this treat bag, but the nice thing is that with a few punches, it is super quick to make!

Start with a 2”x8” piece of cardstock (this is Chocolate Chip) and score at 3-1/2” x 4-1/2” to help it stand up on it’s own.  Then, grab the Designer Frames Embossing Folders and use the oval to one to emboss your frame.

Use the Extra Wide Oval Punch to punch out the center of your oval.  LOVE that it is an almost perfect match!

Punch both ends of the strip of cardstock with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch to give you that pretty finished look!

Then grab your Petite Petals punch  and the four petal flower punch from the Bitty Punch Pack to make your Daffodil.  I punched one of each shape out of Daffodil Delight cardstock.

In the sample, the flower is stamped first using the Petite Petals stamp set – and I think it definitely adds something to it.  But for the sake of this tutorial, I didn’t end up stamping.  I hope you don’t mind. Smile

Fold up the small punched flower and adhere it to the center of your larger flower with liquid glue or a glue dot!  I love how my mom colored in the center of the little flower with the White Gel pen for a little extra definition!

Add a scrap of cardstock for the stem and grass at the bottom.  Want to hear a fun trick?  Stamp out one of the flower heads from the Too Kind stamp set and then cut it out and use the backside for your grass!  Neat huh?

Add some candy, tie it with a ribbon and you are done!  Easy Peasy!

  • Using Punches to Create a Fun, Colorful Bookmark

Each year when the new Stampin’ Up! catalog comes out, they release the latest set of In Colors.  So, I usually figure that when I’m sending out my catalogs to customers that it would be nice for them to see what these new colors look like in person.  So I create a little bookmark to show off the different colors.

This is what I came up with for this year:

2013 In Color Bookmark with Mosaic Punch

I had just gotten the Mosaic Madness stamp set, Mosaic punch, and Mosaic embossing folder.  Plus of course the new In Colors:
Crisp Canteloupe, Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, and Strawberry Slush.

Oh, and I had to throw in there the new core color – Smoky Slate as well. Smile  I mean, if you are going to play with some new products, why not jam as may new things as you can on your project!

And this is what it looks like when you are trying to mass produce 36 copies of a bookmark like this:

    2013 In Color Bookmark pieces

Let me just say that was A LOT of punching!

But I love how they turned out and if I end up with one left, I may just mount it on a card for another fun use of the bookmark.

Still need a new catalog?  Shoot me an email at jennifer@nwstamper.com or let me know with my catalog request form and I’ll get one in the mail to you right away!  Plus, you’ll get one of these cute bookmarks too!

  • Pair Up Those Punches!

When they announced the Color Refresh and told us that 10 colors were going to be retiring, I looked at the list and was a little sad but overall thought that I didn’t use the colors that much and so I wasn’t going to miss them too much.

Well, then I decide to pull out the colors and make a card with them…. who knew they were so cute together!?!

Colors used:  Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, River Rock, Bashful Blue, Pretty In Pink

Colors used: Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy, Not Quite Navy

These are my thank you cards for customers who ordered from me this month.  I decided to pull out my punches and using them to create layered embellishments.  And if you didn’t grab this Petite Curly Label Punch during Sale-a-bration, it is now available to order too!
Anyway, it turns out, that mixing and matching shapes and colors looks pretty cool. Smile Use a stamp to act as a background for your embellishments and they will pop just that much more!

    Just a Note:
If you love any of these colors, be sure to be checking your stash!  Some of the ink and papers are already selling out, so be sure to hop over to the online store and grab your favorites before they run out too!
