Project Ideas for Stampin’Up 2016 OnStage Display Board Stamper Submission

I’m so excited to be headed to Salt Lake City in April for the first OnStage Live event in North America!  This is the new live event (think Convention) that Stampin’ Up holds to kick off the new catalogs, share new ideas, and get everyone inspired.  I’ll be headed there with a portion of my Fun n’ Crafty stampers team and know it will be great.

This year, they are bringing back Display Stampers… so they have invited folks to submit some of their favorite/best projects that they think represent their style for a chance to be selected to create projects for the display boards at OnStage.  I thought it would be fun to throw my hat in the ring since I love creating; but my goodness it was hard to narrow down my favorites.  Here are a few that I think give a few ideas.  So, either way, I hope it gives YOU some inspiration!

    3 Card Ideas

    Card 1 – Balloon Celebrations

For my first card, I thought I’d share one I made for our team swap using the Balloon Celebrations and vellum.

I haven’t gotten the blog post written quite yet, but here is a close up of some of the details that are always so hard to see in the full card pictures:

The strings and words are heat embossed on the vellum scalloped topped tag and then the balloons are stamped and punched out on top.  Then add a little bow with the Bermuda Bay stitched ribbon for a final touch.

Blog post is up!  See more details for this card here

Card 2 – Fun with Washi Tape

This was a card I put together to show a couple different ways to use washi tape… as a background and with the masking tape technique to create the background Lost Lagoon stripes.

It is a little hard to see, but the “thank you” is stamped on a Project Life grid card on the bottom and shows through a hole to the Project Life grid card that is covered in Washi Tape on top!

Card 3 – Bear Hugs & Party Pants Collar Fold Card

I finally decide to add this card in because I thought it was a fun and different way to use the bear from the Bear Hugs stamp using a fold that hasn’t been used lately for your paper (the folded back Collar Fold).

So, Display Stamper Reviewers… those flowers are for you. 😉

Also, it is hard to see, but I added Crystal Effects to the balloons on the patterned paper, which makes this paper EXTRA AWESOME!  Really, you should try it with your paper at home!

Whew, that was hard and there is so much more I want to show you now, but I guess I’ll have to wait for future blog posts. 🙂

    Scrapbook Page

Next up, I needed to put together a scrapbook page.  I’m proud to say this came entirely from my brain and I am really happy with how it turned out.

Legoland Pirate scrapbook page with Botanical Blooms paper 2

I mixed the Botanical Gardens designer paper and the Corrugated Cardstock for my background with the Going Global stamp set to add color and boyish fun with the page.

    3D Projects

Finally I had to put together two 3D projects… always the hardest for me!  But I still had fun playing with ideas for the recent holidays.

Easter Gift Bag with Honeycomb Happiness and the Sunburst Thinlit

I had so much fun playing with all my new stuff and the Gift Bag Punch Board to pull together this Easter treat bag –

Doesn’t the Sunburst thinlit make such a great sun for behind our adorable chick?!

Full blog post with all the details here

Envelope Punch Board Valentine Owl Treat Bag

I guess I’ve had a thing for punch boards lately.  This time I used the Envelope Punch board to create a little treat bag for Valentines.  Then I pulled out my trusty owl punch to make a cute little mascot for our project.

    Bonus Card

I LOVE this card but wasn’t sure if it would count because it isn’t the standard size – it is a 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″.  So putting here for bonus option just because I think you might like it too.

So thank you for stopping by and thank you to the Display Stamper Reviewers for checking this out and your consideration!  I can’t wait for OnStage!

  • You Are Amazingly Amazing Scrapbook Layout with the Best Year Ever designer paper

After a fun weekend with the Live Chat about the scoop on the Starter Kit and perks of being a demonstrator (if you missed it, here is the recording) and then a great card class, then finally working on details for running my first Crafty Escape Weekend in June!  So much fun and exciting stuff!

But now with it being Monday, I realized that there are only 2 more days of Sale-a-Bration & of the Paper Pumpkin Subscription sale!
(PS – for those of you who have been thinking of joining my Fun n’ Crafty group, that means tomorrow is the last day to get the bonus items or project kit!)

I still have lots of projects I wanted to share, so first up is this fun scrapbook layout I did recently using the Best Year Ever designer paper that you can get free with Sale-a-Bration:

I loved the goofy and sweet faces that Caitlin was making at lunch while we were at Legoland and so while I didn’t have a “story” behind the pictures, I knew I wanted to have them for our trip album.  And as I started thinking about what I wanted to use for my layout, I realized the light and bright colors in the Best Year Ever designer paper would be the perfect backdrop for my sweet girl!

I wanted the pictures to be the focal point, so I didn’t do a ton of embellishing, but I made sure to add a few spots of fun, starting with a couple flowers using the Bloom For You stamp!

    image

It is a single flower stamp, but the cool thing is it works with two different stamps – the Fun Flower punch and the 7/8” scallop circle punch.  So you can do things like stamp the flower in one color and punch out and then stamp in a second color and punch out with the 7/8” scallop circle punch and layer it on top!

Its also really subtle, but I wanted to do something else and so I added some Neutrals Candy Dots in Soft Suede onto the Soft Suede cardstock.  It’s a little touch but it works!

For my journalling, I created a block with white cardstock and then stamped my sentiment from the Painted Petals stamp set…. don’t you love that saying?  And then wrote my thoughts with a matching Stampin’ Write marker – the Hello Honey marker.

This layout goes together quickly and highlights your pictures so that they stand out and can make you smile each time you flip through your album!

Sale-a-Bration Reminder:  Just a reminder of what you can pick for free with your order today and tomorrow:

If you decide to Join My Fun n’ Crafty Group, you can pick 2 of the items above to get free with your starter kit or any of the project kits from the Occasions Catalog!  Plus all the fun and perks of being a demonstrator and of being part of my group. Smile

And then I’ll be back tomorrow with a couple more project ideas including some fun ones with Paper Pumpkin!  And don’t forget, the discount on the 3 month subscription is only good through tomorrow as well!

  • Scrapbook Sunday: Going Vintage Sweet for a Baby Girl Layout with Kinda Eclectic

I’m back with another Scrapbook Sunday project share for you.  I put together this layout for the Stampin’ Up convention display boards last year and it was the project that I was most sad about not being able to get back!  I think it is one of my favorite layouts in a long time –and I even came up with it all by myself!

Now, I normally scrapbook in 12×12 sizes but I decided to try something different and go for an 8-1/2” x 11” layout.  Turns out it is a great size if you have a 4”x6” photo that you want to highlight.  Plus the smaller size means you can add a few touches and fill up the space more quickly so you can move on to your next set of photos.  I’m sure I’ll still do lots of 12×12 pages still, but I may have to mix in more of these smaller layouts too.

Embellishing Ideas for your Scrapbook Page:

    • Grab a nice multipurpose stamp set – like in this case, the Kinda Eclectic stamp set – and use it to accessorize your page and POP your photo.  I used the sunburst behind one corner and the vintage dots under the opposite corner.
    • To add extra sparkle (or to cover up an imperfectly stamped circle Winking smile ) Use the In Color sequins as dots in your stamped area.

    • and yes, that title is stamped as well using the Skinny Mini alphabet stamps.
    • In sticking with my vintage feel, I layered stamped images and accessories for a cluster (clustering is a great way to add some dimension and wow to your pages).  I have Burlap ribbon, stamped and fussy cut leaves, a vintage button, stamped and punched butterfly, and a sequin with a mini-brad through the middle all layered together.

    • You will notice the two-tone look to the leaves and butterfly… that is because I used the Rock n’ Roll technique to ink them.  Ink the stamp with one color (usually the lighter color) and then roll the edges of the stamped image in a darker color ink BEFORE you stamp.
    • I didn’t want to leave the upper corner blank, so I stamped with a very light color some extra butterflies so there was subtle balance.  It’s kind of like making your own background paper!

    Leadership 2015 Updates!

I’m getting my bags packed and swaps finished as I head off to Orlando on Wednesday for the final Leadership Convention from Stampin’ Up (they have announced they are changing what events they run and this will be the last “leadership” they put on… I’m hoping while I’m there they fill us in on what they will be doing in it’s place in the future!).  I always love going and getting more great creative ideas, hear the latest announcements and news from Stampin’ Up, and connect with so many of my stamping friends.

I will be sharing frequently through the week, so make sure you are plugged in to follow along with me!
