  • A Clean and Simple Embossed Happy Hello with Blended Bloom

Sometimes I get all caught up in the fun of playing with all my punches, ribbons, and accessories, that I forget to go back to the basics…. ink, stamps, and paper!  But I shared this card with my Stamp Club recently and loved the elegance of it and the simplicity.

    Tips for making this card:

    • Pick your favorite color and feature it on your card and then stick to simple neutrals to break it up.  In this case, I just used Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White… and it turns out, that is all the color you need!
    • Keep it from being too flat by spicing it up with two of my favorite tricks:  Heat Embossing and Sponging!
    • I started by heat embossing the Blended Bloom flower in the lower left corner of my Rich Razzleberry cardstock.  To do this:
        –  Lightly wipe over the area with the Embossing Buddy (it is a little cloth pouch with powder inside), this de-statics the paper and makes sure the embossing powder only sticks to the stamped lines and doesn’t give you speckles in other places!
        –  Stamp your image using Versamark Ink (the clear watermarking ink)
        –  Generously dump embossing powder over the stamped image to make sure all the ink is covered in powder.
        –  Tap off any excess powder onto a piece of computer paper or the grid paper mats are perfect for this!  And then dump the excess powder back into the container.
        –  Use the heat tool to blow hot air over the embossing powder to melt it into the shiny awesome raised image that you want!
    • Once you have your embossed flower, tap a sponge dauber into Rich Razzleberry ink and then swirl it over the center of your flower to get the darker middle.  Easy as that!
    • Sponge all the way around the edges of the stamped card for a darker edge.
    • Do the same thing with the sentiment by heat embossing, I used the “A Happy Hello” from the Tin of Cards stamp set (LOVE IT!) and added a bit of the trim from the same stamp set in Rich Razzleberry ink.
    • Then just adhere your layers and you are done!

See, I told you easy… and fun too!

Hmm… speaking of easy, this is inspiring me. I think I may use this same general idea to create some swaps for OnStage Local – Stampin’ Up’s new live events that is the replacement for Convention and Regionals!  I’ll be headed to Vancouver, WA tomorrow for this fun event starting with a leaders dinner Friday night and then the main event on Saturday!  We’ll be getting a sneak peek at what is coming new in January 2016 with the spring Occasions catalog and Sale-a-Bration!  Woo hoo!  Can’t wait to see and then share. Smile

  • A Simple Hello with Blended Blooms with a NEW Blendabilities Basics Video Tutorial

Are you ready for another Blendabilities card?  I have another one for you today…. this was another card that I made using up the bits and pieces I had lying around my craft room.  From a stamped Blended Bloom image that needed to be colored to the Striped Scallop thinlit and the cut out pieces from a Dazzling Diamond Glimmer paper die cut.  A little bit of this and a little bit of that can come together for something new and fun like this:

And if you are interested, I finally got my Blendabilties Basics video up to share the basics about these markers along with tips and techniques for coloring your images along with a few other fun ways to use your markers that DON’T involve stamping! Smile  I have the video below for you to check out!

    Tips for making this card:

    • Use the 2-way Glue Pen for an easy and mess-free way to adhere your Striped Scallop die cut to your project – like the Early Espresso die cut I have on my card.
    • You can put your die cut over cardstock for a simple accent, or step it up a notch by using the leftover cutouts from a prior project to fill in the gaps!  In this case I had previously cut out a Striped Scallop piece from the Dazzling Diamond glimmer paper.  I used the outline on a different card and kept the teardrop pieces that had been left behind to use later.  So when I was making this card, I just started gluing them the the holes on this card!
    • For a different take on leaves, use the Scalloped Tag Topper punch to create two scalloped pieces.  Let them peek out from behind your flower for a hint of green.
    • When coloring your flower, it is a big enough image that you will want to color it a few petals at a time.  I recommend finishing up 2-4 petals at a time instead of trying to do all of them at once, which would cause the ink to dry too much and keep them from blending well.

I actually walk through coloring a few petals of this flower along with other flowers and projects in this Blendabilities Basics video:

  • Oh So Pretty Blendabilities & a Stamp Sneak Peek!

Oh So Pretty Blendabilities & a Stamp Sneak Peek!

I was so excited to be able to attend the Stampin’ Up! new catalog premiere this monday afternoon.  It was the first time Stampin’ Up had tried showing us the new catalog with a live presentation in California and live streaming to theaters across the US and Canada.  Turns out, it was a lot of fun, and almost as exciting as the main stage presentations at convention.

Best of all, we got our very own copy of the upcoming catalog!

Don’t mind my squinting…. we actually have sun here in the Northwest for the first time in ages it seems. Smile  So the weather was great but that wasn’t great for photos.

    Anyway!

There were lots of great reveals of new products (alphabet framelits!!!  new dies, new punches, the new in colors – which I think look a lot like the color scheme in the current Epic Day designer paper btw) and some fabulous samples.

I thought I would share one of the things I can’t wait to get my hands on (thank you demonstrator preorder!) – Stampin’ Blendabilities!

They showed us this cute sample using a new stamp called Blended Bloom using some of the different colors:

    cherry cobbler blendabilities blended bloom

Cherry Cobblercoastal cabana blendabilities blended bloom

    Coastal Cabana

    daffodil delight blendabilities blended bloom

    Daffodil Delight

    old olive blendabilities blended bloom

    Old Olive

    pumpkin pie blendabilities blended bloom

    Pumpkin Pie

    wisteria wonder blendabilities blended bloom

    Wisteria Wonder

    So pretty, right?

I may not be an artist, and I’m not sure how well I’ll do with coloring with markers.  But I can’t wait to get my sets and give it a go.  From the little I’ve played with at Leadership and seeing them demonstrate it, I think it isn’t nearly as hard as you might think!

Ok, I’m off to start building my wishlist…. so many great things I need to make a plan. Smile  So, enjoy this little share of what is to come and I’ll have more for you soon!

And don’t forget – if you want to get in on the early previews of the catalog and preorders – or just want to come to convention for FREE to get the experience!  Consider getting the Stampin’ Up starter kit and you’ll get all of that and more when you join now.
