20 Card Ideas using the Hello Life Project Kit from Stampin’ Up!

Do you ever look at the Project Kits that come out and think,”That is cute, and I like this and that piece of the kit, but I won’t use the completed project when I’m done.”  I was like that with the Hello Life project kit, until recently when I saw the idea to turn it not into a wall hanging, home décor piece; but instead combine it with notecards to make a really stinkin’ cute card set.  So, I threw together a class on it last weekend and loved the results so much I wanted to share so you had a chance to make it too if you love them before the Hello Life Project Kit sells out (since it is on the retiring list)

Here is one of my favorite cards that we made in the class:

I think my favorite part is the cool “bird’s nest” element that is in the middle of card!  It just adds such a pretty texture and was easy to make too!  All you have to do is take the thick twine that is included in the project kit and pull apart the three threads that are twisted together to make up a piece of the twine.

Once you have the three threads, loosely loop them in a circle and tack down to the black square using a little big of SNAIL adhesive on each side beneath where the sentiment will go.  (So you’ll have two little spots of adhesive).  That helps hold the twine in place generally, and when you add the sentiment up on Stampin’ Dimensionals, that works at the additional lock to hold everything down.  And the loose threads just look awesome!

So, this is what the Hello Life kit looks like if you make it as-is in the package…

And here are a bunch of cards you can make instead!  Note – if you see the fox post-it notes in the pictures, that is how I indicated in class that you make TWO of that card design.  Here are the extra supplies you need to make these cards (see the bottom of the post for links to these items in the online store):

    • Whisper White notecards & envelopes
    • Crushed Curry cardstock
    • Crushed Curry ink
    • Memento Black ink
    • Stampin’ Dimensionals
    • Fine-tip Glue pen
    • Your favorite sentiment stamps

So, do you have a favorite card from the set?  I’d love to hear which is yours!  And the best part is, because you are using pieces of the kit along with precut & scored notecards, the amount of prep work and cutting is pretty small!  Perfect for those of you who don’t want to have to do much thinking at the same time you want to craft. Smile  Just make sure to grab the kit before the end of May at which point it will be discontinued!

Birthday cards blog hop with the Fun n Crafty Stampers

I’m so excited to be participating in the Fun n’ Crafty Blog Hop this month!  We are celebrating birthdays and sharing cards and project ideas to help you with those celebrations any time of the year!  You know they are coming! 🙂

And it is fitting because today is my Mom’s birthday!  Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Petal Potpourri Birthday Card with Best Year Ever paper and buttons

This is one of the 5 cards from my Birthday Card Bash Class to Go and I love it!  I was inspired by a fellow talented demonstrator Kriss Huels and thought my local stampers would love this card and so I had to recreate it!  Plus I was dying to use my Best Year Ever designer paper and this was a fun combination, don’t you think?

    Tips for making this card:

    • Don’t be afraid to use your designer paper!  Grab a paper pack – or get this one FREE during Sale-a-Bration with your $50 order – and then pick two patterns and mix away!  You may find a pattern you weren’t a fan of in the 12×12 size looks great in a smaller piece.
    • Don’t you love this new Flower Medallion punch and matching Petal Potpourri stamp set?  I love that the flower set ranges from simple and modern to lacy and elegant.  This clean shape goes great on any style of card.  Plus get the punch and stamp set together in a bundle and save 15% off both while you are at it!

    • Make a simple leaf for your flower by punching an Extra Wide Oval from your Coastal Cabana cardstock and then scoring and folding down the middle.  Easy, peasy, done!
    • Don’t forget the 7/8″ scallop circle punch matches perfectly the smaller flower shape in the Petal Potpourri stamp set!  It makes a great finishing touch to your flower.
    • Use one of your designer buttons (or one of the buttons from the FREE Best Year Ever Accessory Pack during Sale-a-Bration) and tie some white baker’s twine through for a little extra pizzazz on your card.

  • A Lovely Valentine’s Weekend

    A Lovely Valentine’s Weekend

It has been a whirlwind weekend and I know I didn’t get my blog posts up and going for a few days, so I thought I would share a little bit of my fun, crafty, and crazy life around here from the last few days.  I figure you’d get a kick out of some of silliness and crafting that went on. Smile

The Valentine’s Weekend actually kicked off on Thursday with my sweet husband sending me an early balloon bouquet and chocolate covered strawberries!  Yum!2015-02-12 18.11.37

    2015-02-12 22.11.24

Strawberries are my favorite fruit so this was a fabulous treat!

Then I discovered that I had lost the final piece to the Valentine’s Cards that Nicholas and I had worked on a few weeks ago, so we scrambled to get some cards put together for his preschool class the night before he needed to take them in.  Thankfully he LOVES stamping and crafting, and so was happy to have an excuse to get to use my craft stash (as opposed to his supplies that he always has access to).

    2015-02-12 18.53.50-1

The slighly scary thing was that I helped him get everything stamped (he did most of it, I just made sure the mess was contained) and then had to leave for Stamp Club that night and so I left him alone with brads, buttons, and some cheap glitter tape I found at Target a while back to finish them up while I was gone.  He did decorate some and you got to hand it to him for creativity given that he is only just turned 5!

    2015-02-12 22.04.34

Like his creative placement of brads and buttons. Almost all of the pirates had brad eyepatches. Smile

    2015-02-12 22.04.45

And he even did some paper piercing around the fish and their bubbles!

    2015-02-12 22.04.57

On Valentine’s Day, Nicholas had a strange tummy bug, so we decided to stay in and do a relaxed Family Movie Night.  Which then degenerated into Silly Selfie Night!  Love these kiddos!

    2015-02-14 20.25.02

And then I got to finish out the weekend with MORE CRAFTING on Sunday, yay!  I hosted Birthday themed events including the Perpetual Birthday Calendar kit class in the morning.  We took over my dining room and loved it!

    2015-02-15 12.22.48

And I shared the following samples for them to be inspired by!  I made my entire calendar in an evening this week and loved it!  I will admit I was intimidated to get started on it but once I got going it was so fun and easy to do.  I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the stamp set that coordinates with the kit.  I’m sure you will see me using it for other non-calendar projects as well. Smile 2015-02-15 17.07.46

And yes!  I’ll be taking better pictures of my calendar pages for a blog post very soon!

Then we had more people join us for the afternoon of Birthday Card creation!  Check out what we made:
