Making the Triple Treat Flower- a video and a card
If you haven’t seen, I’ve started trying to create videos about stamping topics or project how-tos (you can check them out on my youtube channel – www.youtube.com/northweststamper). I’m only just getting started, but I was recently asked to create a video on how to make the dimensional flower using the Triple Treat Flower stamp. So, I wanted to share the video today along with the card I created using the flower sample from the video.

Here is a close up of the flower, since you can’t see the dimension of the flower in the full card picture:

This is super easy to make and just requires having 3 punches: the Fancy Flower punch, the 5-Petal punch, and the 1/2” circle punch. If you want to see how it is done, check out this video where I walk through making it!

The Coolest Flower Stamp: The Triple Treat Flower
Sometimes when a stamp is slated to retire, it makes sense. You can see that the set is looking outdated or there have been new stamps that look almost the same. But then there are the stamps that I just don’t get…. this is one of them.
I mean, check out how cool this flower is!! I love that the Triple Treat Flower is pretty as a flower stamped as it. But then the fact that you can punch out 3 different shapes from one stamp is just too neat! And if you read my newsletter, you saw that this is one of my favorite configurations for the punches that come out of this flower. I just love the dimension and contrast you can make.

This is another card I did a while back but I just love the colors and the way the flower just pops off the page! But imagine if you used different designer paper and maybe some pinks and purples, or blues and yellows… you could have a great spring card too!

Getting Punchy
Last night I started playing with my word window punch some more and one of the ideas I had was to create a flower using punches. This quickly turned into a card challenge to myself to see if I could make an interesting card that was almost entirely based on punches instead of stamps. It was a fun experiment and helped me brainstorm a ton of new ways to use punches (though most of those uses didn’t look so good when all smooshed together on one card). In the end, I used two stamps though if I had thought to use rub-ons for the sentiment and designer paper for the background, I think I could have gotten away with none. 🙂
To make this card, I used 5 different punches. The card is actually very quick to put together because most of it is just punching and glueing paper.
Recipe
Stamps: Pretty Petals background stamp, Sock Monkey
Inks: Pink Pirouette, Pixie Pink, Garden Green
Paper: Pink Pirouette cardstock, Garden Green cardstock, Whisper White cardstock
Accessories: word window punch, small oval punch, five petal punch, trio flower punch, ticket punch, gold brad
