So Much Good Stuff to Share from OnStage 2019

Whew! It has been a whirlwind weekend thanks to the Stampin’ Up OnStage 2019 local event on Saturday. I traveled with 5 of my Fun n’ Crafty Stampers to Vancouver BC, Canada on Friday and spent the weekend having a blast with my friends from all over as we reconnected and then got giddy checking out the new products and special promotions coming soon from Stampin’ Up!

Excited to show the cover of the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! catalog

I was posting throughout the day from the event over on my Northwest Stamper facebook page, and shared some project and product sneak peeks. But by the time the event was over and I had driven back over the US/Canada border – and got my event new product preorder in – sorry, a girls got to have her stamp priorities! 😉 I was too tired to get this blog post up yesterday. But, I’m trying to redeem myself and get a new post up for you today to share with you a little of the excitement of the event and lots of sneak peek product pictures!

And yes, one perk of driving up was that I got to finish up swaps on the drive. You know me… I never have my swaps actually done before the last second. ha ha!

Making swaps in the car. Adding Stampin' dimensionals to the back of springtime impressions butterfly die cuts.

    Why I Love OnStage Events

One of the things I most love about going to Stampin’ Up events is the people that I meet and see there. From the staffers to the other demos around me, I always connect with such wonderful people. And I love when I get to see them again and again at future events. Being in Canada, I got to see some of my Canadian friends that I don’t typically get to visit with. Totally worth the drive to me!

    Friends from OnStage 2019
Some of my friends including Kasia (concept artist from the Stampin’ Up home office), Natalie (Demonstrator Development Manager from Stampin’ Up), my friend Desiree Spenst, my mom – Kathy Thisted, my kick butt team member Nicole Flournoy, our awesome Fun n’ Crafty Stampers and friends table at the event, the lovely Karina Chin, and the so sweet Sheri Pearson!

    Wanna see some goodies?

So, aside from hanging out with all the awesome people, there are 2.. ok, maybe 3 big reasons people like to attend OnStage.

    1. Getting free new product! (because, um, who doesn’t?!)
    2. Getting to see sneak peeks at the newest catalog
    3. Getting to actually order some of the items we saw at the event!

And OnStage 2019 didn’t disappoint! So, shall I share some of that with you today? 🙂

    Free New Stampin’ Up Product!

When I laid it all out, I was impressed with the amount of goodies I came home with from a one day event (plus a leadership dinner friday night). Check it out:

All the goodies and swap from OnStage 2019 Vancouver

And in case you are wondering, why the shammy (that purple rectangle in the stamp case) is all inky. That is because they had a brand new one on the table for us to use with our make & takes; and at the end of the day they let us divide up our goodies amongst the table and so I got to go home with a practically new, and oh so soft Stampin’ Shammy!

    Sneak Peek of new Products!

I’m not confused… I know you are here to see what is new and cool and coming soon! 🙂 Here are some of the product suites and new products we got to see in person at the event. I didn’t get to play with all of it, but I got to see it all and play with some.

I’ve placed my first early preorder, so I hope to start creating and be able to sprinkle some sneak peek project ideas here on the blog for you over the next month and a half!

In the meantime – don’t miss out on the Retiring Products!

Right now is a time of transition for Stampin’ Up – more so than normal! We are moving away from our partnership with Sizzix and so will be moving to a new die cutting machine sometime after the new catalog comes out. That means a lot of the current Big Shot accessories are retiring and may go quickly.

We also are discontinuing our Stampin’ Trimmer and there will be a transition time when we are no longer selling replacement cutting blades but don’t have our new paper cutting tool available yet.

If you aren’t a subscriber on my mailing list – I shared the full scoop in my last email and you can check it out ***HERE***

***The Retirement List comes out Monday 4/15 at 1pm MT ***
Products will be while supplies last and may be discounted!

Shop the retiring products in my Online Store before they are GONE!

OnStage 2019 check in desk fun! I loved being a helper this time.

OnStage 2019 was a blast! Lots of exciting things to look forward to over the next couple months. Please stop by the blog again for more fun sharing over the coming weeks! 🙂

  • Walkthrough Wednesday – Clean, Simple, and a little bit Funky 2015 Convention Card Swap

Every year I go to the Stampin’ Up Convention in Salt Lake City and it is the highlight of my summer.  I mean, come on – getting to spend 3 days being surrounded by amazing creative ideas and even more creative men and women?!  What isn’t to love about that?  I always come away recharged and excited and filled with so many ideas.  And this year is no exception. Smile

Now, before I go, I always create some amount of swap cards.  Often I will make multiple designs because goodness knows I don’t have the patience for actually making 100 of the same card!  This year, I participated in 3 organized swaps and then made extra of those designs to swap out and about with random people.  This was my absolute favorite and also my last minute card too!  I literally designed and cut for it about 12 hours before my flight left for Salt Lake City!

It is quick to make and yet still has a lot of personality, which I love.  So I wanted to share it with you AND I have a Walkthrough Wednesday video tutorial below so you can see how to make it step by step.

    Tips for making this card:

    • Start with an idea that grabs you and build from there!
In my case, I really liked the idea of using the Sunburst from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and having a Gold Foil Star in the center and then I started adding more paper and ribbon from there.
    • Don’t feel like your ribbon colors have to be a traditional match.  Mix and match and you’ll be surprised how fun things can turn out.  I used the Watermelon Wonder dotted lace trim and then added a layer of designer paper and a finishing touch of the Bermuda Bay sequin trim.
    • Find common elements to pull everything together.  Like in this case, I have gold sprinkled throughout and I have “shiny” too!  The paper and the star are both gold and the sequins tie in to the star by being shiny!
    • When trying to attach lace trim and paper, the tape runner (like the Stampin’ Up SNAIL work great) but for sequins, I prefer to either use glue dots to hold the ends down, or use a mini stapler to attach the ends.
    • If you can’t tell, Stampin’ Up has done something new with their Neutrals Designer Paper stack this year and has added in Gold and Silver metallic papers.  I like that they are metallic without looking like foil so I can add it in without it overpowering my projects.  It is really cool paper!

Want to see how it all comes together?  Check out this video I put together to walk you through step by step with dimensions and all the great tips you expect along the way. Smile

(note – if you are reading this post in email, you can get to the video here)

Need any of the supplies so you can make this yourself?  (You can’t go wrong with any of the items I used in this card this week… they are all favorites that I totally recommend!)  You can find them all in my Online Store or click any of the pictures below to learn more about any of the supply items.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I  hope you’ve been enjoying the Walkthrough Wednesdays… I’m looking at ways to change and improve my blog posts and ways I share my projects and so hopefully I’ll have more fun stuff for you soon. Smile

    Project Supplies Used:

  • Sharing a Few of my Favorite Swaps

After coming back from the Stampin’ Up convention, I had a TON of swap cards… ok, more like 120, but still, that feels like a ton!  I spent time over the last few days photographing the cards and finally have pictures of all of them.  I posted them all of my team facebook group (so if you are one of my Fun n’ Crafty Stampers, make sure you’ve checked out the album on our page!) But I want to share some of my favorites with you here on the blog too!

I’ve hand picked a few that I’m going to go into detail on later this week, but for now I thought I’d get the party started with 6 cards that I loved and I hope at least one catches your eye too!

I love how simple yet bold this card is.  Plus it also shows a great way to use that vegetable paper from the Farmer’s Market designer paper in a way that is cute!  I love this paper pack, but will admit to not having a clue on how to use some of the patterns.  So when I saw this card I had to swap for it!

This is another simple yet super cute cards!  The heart is the Dazzling Diamond designer paper that she spritzed with Watermelon Wonder ink to create the matching heart.   If you haven’t tried this at home, here is how it works:

To make custom color glitter paper:

    1. Start with Dazzling Diamond glimmer paper and cut down to near the size you need for your project
    2. Take a Spritzer and fill with rubbing alcohol
    3. Add 20-60 drops of your preferred color ink refill (like this Watermelon Wonder ink refill)
the amount of drops varies how dark your color will turn out
    4. Place your paper in a cardboard box, standing upright
    5. Press on the top of the spritz bottle while holding the bottle UPRIGHT
    6. Keep spraying until you get the color you want and then set aside to dry

It is also hard to tell, but the paper with the words on it is actually silvery so that it has a subtle shine to it.  That is from the Stampin’ Up Neutrals Background designer series paper stack.  Isn’t it cute!!

I also had to swap for this gift card holder as soon as I saw it!  I love punch art and just thought he was totally adorable!  I haven’t measured the circles yet to recreate him but I can share once I do.

It wasn’t until I went to photograph the card that I realized it was a gift card holder.  How clever is that?

This was one of the cards that made me realize that I needed the Remarkable You stamp set.  In fact, it is now arriving at my house tomorrow!  Yay!  It is so simple yet oh so pretty!  I’m thinking this may need to turn into one of my customer thank you cards soon. Smile

I loved the added touch of the flowers being popped up for more dimension without distracting from the rest of the card.  Awesome, right?

I thought this was such a clever use of the Celebrate Today bundle!  I love the balloon die cut, but thought making the cloud background and then adding the sun from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and adding two circles for Mickey Mouse ears were great added touches.

I saw my friend Michelle Suit working on swaps in the weeks leading up to convention and then she and her family went to Disney World.  It looked like such a fun time and she had the brilliant idea to take some of her Disney Themed swaps and get them signed by the characters in the park.  I even lucked in to one signed by Snow White!

Finally, I have one more for you today.  This was a great card created by Angela McCormack – one of our Fun n’ Crafty Stampers!

She always comes up with great card ideas and I loved how easy this is to make.  All the words are part of the single background stamp – A World of Thanks.  The trendy sketched words look great all together and then with some added punched hearts, stars, and some rhinestones, it just really comes together, don’t you think?

I hope you enjoyed these ideas and will stop back by as I share even more this week!  Plus, I’ll be getting my first back of New Holiday Catalog Preorder Items and will be sharing them with you too!

If you want to get your own swap cards, consider giving my Fun n’ Crafty Stampers group a try!  We have a Holiday Catalog group swap coming up, monthly swaps, AND you will be eligible to join us and hundreds of other demos by attending the On Stage Local events around the country in November where there is sure to be lots more swapping going on!  Get your starter kit and give it a test run here, we’d love to have you join us!

  • Wrapping up the Stampin’ Up Convention! Highlights, Display Boards, and More!

It happens every year… the first night of a Stampin’ Up Convention or other event, I stay up late the first night socializing and then blogging/facebooking.  Then the second night, we are up late again… but more tired from the late night/early morning from the day before.  So I get a little less done.  Then by the last day… I’m just toast!  Smile  This year was worse than normal for me as my team had a blast staying up and having in-room “happy hour” as we chatted and some people had some wine.  But after coming home at midnight on Saturday and then spending time with the family before the hubby turned around for his turn to go on a business trip) I rested and am finally catching up on the last bit of sharing!

I wanted to give you the full experience, so WARNING! Lots of pictures ahead! Smile

    Stampin’ Up Convention 2015 – Day 2

As always there are a ton of demonstrators gathered for Convention, but I love getting a chance to meet and mingle with everyone!  By day 2, my crew had a plan in place for snagging seats for our group.  I just had to sneak away for a minute to snap a quick pick of some of the crowd eagerly awaiting the chance to get in for day 2!

    IMG_0481

I also love the chance to see and say hello to some of the amazing Stampin’ Up Home office staff who make these events and all the support for demonstrators so great throughout the year.  Like the lovely Miss Andrea Withers and the fabulous Bonnie Farley!

    2015-07-24 09.27.07

    2015-07-24 11.09.43

Plus they always play fun music while we are waiting for the session to start so you have to stand up and dance a little!  See, even Tanya, Nicole, and Carla were getting into it. Smile

    2015-07-24 11.11.34

And new Archival Ink in Basic Black and Basic Grey.

    2015-07-24 14.33.02

The new ink pad stamps like a dream!  They use the old linen pads and are a new formula but they are AWESOME!  I fell totally in love when I was using it on the make & take… so imagine my excitement when they ended up giving the out to everyone at convention!  Yay!!

    2015-07-24 19.35.36

As usual, there was lots of swapping

    2015-07-24 10.43.56

And as you wandered around the Gathering Place, you could see lots of the new products as samples or to just play with… such as these edgelits (there are 3 in the pack! Trees, sleigh, and cottages)

    IMG_0555

psst – another new punch alert!

    IMG_0557

I even got to walk across the stage for earning the Grand Vacation – the Mediterranean Cruise – which was fun!

    IMG_0508

And in addition to spoiling us at the event with great places to relax and chat and share with other demonstrators, prizes, and inspiration… for everyone who earned an annual award or had reached a milestone anniversary with the company, we had a little relaxation space that not only had some treats and drinks, but they also gave us this reuseable trash bin filled with lots of goodies!  I didn’t have that stamp set yet either – so super bonus score!

    annual award goodie bag

Then we had the evening to ourselves so the crew headed to Olive Garden before heading back to the hotel for a dip in the Hot Tub and day 2 of “happy hour”.  I also got a chance to catch up with some other great friends, especially my great friend Sarah Naber

    2015-07-24 23.44.29

I went to bed “early” as it was only 1am… not too bad for me on an event night! Smile

    Stampin Up Convention Day 3

With the sun rising on Day 3, it was my last day in Salt Lake City.  The main convention event only went until lunch time, so there was a lot to get through in a little bit of time!

    2015-07-25 07.23.07

… I always love having this view from my room!  Its my happy place!…

I spent some time in the morning checking out the display boards… they were entirely filled with cards brought by other demonstrators this year and they were fantastic!  Like how stinkin’ adorable is this bird?

    IMG_0723

*** See all the display board cards in pictures on my Facebook Page here ***

    IMG_0725

Rich Judkins, the President of Stampin’ Up, came out and shared a great story on perspective and talked about how the company was doing both from a numbers perspective and from a morale perspective.  It was honest, and real… and great example of him sharing that the executive team really does hear how demonstrators are feeling, what we are concerned about, and CARES about us!  There is a lot of change this year and we all know it is tough, but they are trying to make things better for demonstrators and keep improving as they hear our feedback.  It was seriously great and reassuring to hear!

We had more stamping demonstrations… so more cute ideas!

    2015-07-25 13.36.31

and new product!  Must have this snowflake stamp set/punch bundle and those wood snowflakes!!

    2015-07-25 14.07.13

    and more cute stuff!

Double wide pillow box using the new pillow box thinlit!

    IMG_0743

And of course, more prize patrol!

    2015-07-25 13.39.32-1

Plus something for everyone!  Hand painted holiday paper for all of us… thanks, Stampin’ Up!

    2015-07-25 14.28.50

And with that, convention was over!  I had the opportunity to attend some additional leaders training in the afternoon.  I got to chat with Sara (seriously the most down to earth CEO there is!)

    2015-07-25 15.06.52

And for those of you who have seen Brian Pilling bring Diet Coke to the presenters on stage at events before… he does it in real life too!  Isn’t he sweet for taking care of everyone!

    IMG_0787

The training was a great way to review what I learned and think about how to make improvements to my business but also how to use it to help my team as well!  So much to get implementing for all my crew as the year goes on!

    2015-07-25 16.20.00

Fun Fact!  My Mom and I have attended every Convention together since I joined and 2 leaderships.  So this was our 7th Convention together… .how cool is that?!?

    2015-07-25 14.47.19-2

We celebrated the end of a great weekend with some Strawberry Shortcake before heading to the airport to say good-bye once again to Salt Lake City and back to our amazing, supportive families!

    2015-07-25 18.18.34

So, I hope you enjoyed my recap.  Wish you were there (unless you were there – in which case, glad to celebrate with you!)  I’m already looking forward to the new On Stage events coming up starting in November.  I’d love to have you go with me.  All you have to do is let me know you want to go, snag the great deal that is the starter kit so you can become a member of my Fun n’ Crafty Stampers and then register!  We have an awesome group and you will have a blast!

    ——————————

What a busy but great first day here at Convention!  It was all about NEW and the NEW Holiday Catalog!  From the very first session as they revealed the upcoming catalog to fun throughout the day as we learned, stamped, and got new ideas based on some the great stuff coming out in September.

So here is your daily recap!

We started out by checking out the Convention Center and getting the CUTE convention bag this year.  I think it is my favorite yet!

    2015-07-23 08.45.48

As we were waiting in line, we spotted one of the staff in the blinky sparkly outfits which meant if we said hello and played his game (name the cardstock color) we won prizes!

    2015-07-23 09.24.36

Of course we rocked it… most of the gals got logo travel purses/badge holders – which they were really excited about, and a few of us got ribbon spools. WINNING!

    2015-07-23 09.28.28

And btw – doesn’t everyone look great in our team shirts?  This is our Fun n’ Crafty  crew representing at Convention! The bright blue clumps of people made it SOOO much easier to find each other Smile

    2015-07-23 17.19.18-2

Finally we were let in and we got to see main stage.  Seriously people, the décor is so fab this year!

    2015-07-23 11.46.35

They started out with the “Daily Share” which essentially was a 2 hour long new holiday catalog reveal party led by Bonnie Farley, Brian Piling, and Carrie Cudney

    IMG_0371

I will say though, one of my favorite little clips was of Brian aka “Quick and Easy” trying to go out on the streets with a Quick and Easy Card Project on a cart randomly asking people if they wanted to make a quick project with him.  I’ll say, that man has way more guts than me! Smile

    2015-07-23 10.29.35

    2015-07-23 10.31.34

Different this year was that most of the catalog reveal was showing a completed project or two as someone talked about their favorite new item in the catalog or how they would share the catalog with others.  So, mostly, lots of photo ops of cute new stuff.

Like new stamps, red pom pom trim, new festive buttons….

    2015-07-23 10.42.40-2

New specialty designer papers, new word thinlit dies!!!

    IMG_0376

And even more dies!  Many of the new stamp sets in the catalog now have coordinating dies so you can easily cut out and create neat layered projects.

There is also a new Precision Plate for the Big Shot that they say will help you eliminate the need for wax paper with your intricate dies.  GREAT concept!  I get to play with it today so I’ll keep you posted on what I discover after playing with it.

    2015-07-23 10.55.16

    Who loves this die?!

    2015-07-23 10.55.32

And finally we got our copy of the holiday catalog too!

    2015-07-23 13.56.52

Here is a better picture, with the more important part in focus Winking smile

    2015-07-23 14.07.58-2

Then it was time to head to lunch, classes, and the Gathering Place where there were lots of samples and all the products in the Holiday Catalog on display for us to check out.

Kicked off the party with the Interim CEO Sara Douglas

    2015-07-23 12.07.33

Even the décor for some of the Make & Takes put you in the festive spirit

    2015-07-23 16.10.49

PSST – Those deer are from some of our upcoming designer paper!  Love the vintage!

    2015-07-23 15.36.43

More vintage sneak peeks with this cute tag we made – check out the striped satin ribbon, the santa cut out from patterned paper, and the Pointsettia button!

    2015-07-23 16.06.52

Then it was back to the Gathering Place for more relaxing and checking out boards.

    IMG_0394

This is the stamp set and matching framelit that I HAVE TO HAVE!  This WILL be coming to my house in August when I can preorder it. Smile

    2015-07-23 16.21.32

New kits were out…totally doing these shaker cards as a class!

    IMG_0397

    And lots more:

    IMG_0436

Finally it was time to grab some dinner and then get gussied up for Awards Night and the Roaring 20’s after party.  Monica Van Tassel from our Fun n’ Crafty group was extra crafty and MADE us all feather headbands to wear.  How fun is that??

    2015-07-23 18.50.47

They kicked off the party with a neat dance show by some local dancers

    IMG_0446

Then Sara got things started recognizing so many demonstrators for their outstanding achievement this last year.  Let me just say, a lot of people had AMAZING years!

    ——————————

Oh my everyone!  Yesterday was the big arrival day for myself, almost all of the Fun n’ Crafty stampers group, and a few friends who would be hanging out with us.

    DSCF5174

Mom and I got up way too early for my liking to head to the airport Smile  But we were happy to be on our way!

    IMAG9236

As expected, I didn’t have my swaps anywhere near ready to go, so I through amazing luck, I had the only open middle seat on the plane next to me!  Which meant it was time to set up a swap making factory!

    IMAG9237

    IMAG9238

Most of our group arrived in the morning, so we hung out in our hotel room (or at least the one hotel room we could check into early) and worked on finishing swaps.

And can I say, I LOVE my stamping team and friends and they TOTALLY saved my bacon!  Everyone was so nice and offered to help assemble my swaps that I was silly in thinking I could pull together in a reasonable amount of time. Smile  <3 Them!

    IMAG9239

After a yummy lunch, we boarded the bus for the pilgramige to the Stampin’ Up home office for a tour and to say thank you to the awesome staff hanging out there, working hard to keep everything running smoothly!

    DSCF5318

Of course Mom and I had to get our picture taken in the atrium….

    IMAG9243

We explored the Idea room and their fun conference room that is wall of whiteboard.  I had to leave my graffiti while I was there

    IMAG9245

Then checking out the distribution center where they were packaging and shipping orders while we watched!

    DSCF5207

And of course we had to say hello and an extra big thank you to the demonstrator support team… who were answering calls while we walked.

    IMAG9259

And they had cute card samples on display too!  (PS – I have more samples posted over on my Facebook page here)

    IMAG9254

These two were designed by my fab friend Michelle Suit!  Isn’t she talented?

    IMAG9255

There were even new projects in the Legacy Museum too!

    IMAG9261

Finally, in between bouts of crazy rain, we ran out to the rock for our obligatory rock picture!

    DSCF5314

(L-R:  Monica Van Tassell, Kathy Thisted, Carla Branton, me – Jennifer Blomquist, Nicole Flournoy, and Beatie Bucy)

Afterwards, I scrambled to finish getting goodie bags ready for the crew before we headed out to dinner.

    IMAG9266

    Inside each bag we had

    • A team t-shirt (saying on the front and our team name on the back!) made by my friend Tamra Davis for us.
    • A name bag tag
    • Treats that were supposed to have a cute poem with them but I wasn’t that on top of things… but it went something like this:
”When convention feels like a circus (animal crackers)
and you just need to chill (wintergreen life savers)
      get smart (smarties)
Stay smooth and have fun (fun size milky way candy bar)” Smile
      IMAG9285

We walked to dinner at Red Rock Brewery and though we didn’t have all one table, we still had fun and swapped for some cute cards!

    IMAG9273

    IMAG9280

So, now it is time to get ready for Day 1 – lots more swapping, bags, prize patrol, and lots and lots of fun!  Make sure you are watching my Facebook page for updates throughout the day!

  • Final Stampin’ Up Convention Prep with a DOUBLE Rewards Points week and New Weekly Deals

Its an exciting week around here!  Tomorrow I head to Salt Lake City for the big Stampin’ Up convention and I can’t wait!  This is the last year that they are holding this style of Convention event (they are changing to a new global event starting in November) so I’m glad I get to go be a part of the summer convention send off.

Of course, like usual, I’m still scrambling to pack and work on my swaps…

    swap making 2

I was working last night while watching tv… and I’ve had a station set up to work while my kids were playing!swap making 1

Each year I think I’ve designed an “easy” swap to mass produce and then I start working and realize each swap requires a ton of punching and glueing Smile  They aren’t hard to make just time consuming when you are trying to make 60+.  I expect I’ll be still assembling on the plane tomorrow, but that is half the fun, right? ha ha ha

In the meantime, for those of you not joining me in Salt Lake City, I’ll be posting realtime updates as long as my phone holds up over on my Facebook page… and Facebook had gotten a little crabby with how they show posts, so you may have to start actually visiting my page to make sure you catch them all because FB tends to stop showing posts from pages you like if they post too often or the “wrong” type of posts (like if I post too many pictures, they stop showing all of them on your walls).  It is silly but I’ll keep posting anyway!

I’ll also post up summaries late each night here on the blog.

  • A Monochromatic Thanks with Seasonally Scattered

I was thinking last night about blog posts and realized that I had been so good about posting my display board projects from the 2014 convention, but then got sidetracked with other projects (and to be honest, I wanted to mix up the stamp sets I was featuring here) and completely forgot to finish sharing the display board projects!  I had saved some of my favorites for last and so I want to make sure to get them posted…. like today’s card!

This was one of the first I did with the Seasonally Scattered stamp set that I LOVED.  It’s not flashy, but I like it’s understatedness.  What do you think?

    Tips for this card:

    • Did you know, the Lovely as a Tree has a leaf stamp that goes PERFECTLY with the Seasonally Scattered thanks stamp??  Stamp your thanks image and then start stamping some falling leaves in Versamark and heat emboss with gold ink for a pretty fall touch.

    • Wrap some linen thread around a few times to add some texture and a simple rustic touch to your card.
    • In keeping with the brown monotone look for the card, I sponged the edge of my Very Vanilla cardstock with Crumb Cake to help all of the cardstock pieces transition nicely with each other.

Its delightfully simple and yet elegant to do… and you could mix and match your colors to get exactly the look you want.  For this card, I used:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, and Very Vanilla; but shake it up when you try it at home!

Ok, now on to the fun stuff, right?  Here is your 2014 Stampin’ Up Convention recap for check in day:

karen swap creating on a plane

We left hot and sunny Seattle early in the morning (we being my mom, Kathy, and myself) to fly to Salt Lake City for the Stampin’ Up convention.  The night before I learned that Karen (one of my downline and Fun n’ Crafty stamper) had not been able to make cards for a swap due to life circumstances.  And since I knew she would have tried if it was all possible for her to do it, I decided to surprise her by creating 25 card swaps for her while on the plane…

ok, I didn’t finish them all on the plane, but I did get the stamping done!  the rest we finished at the hotel. Smile

Fun n Crafty Stampin Up convention display board setup

Then after some lunch, myself, Kathy, and Karen headed in to the Gathering Place and the display boards to start setting up the board that my group had been asked to fill.  We have some fantastic stampers in our Fun n’ Crafty group and I was so excited to be able to share some of their creations with everyone at convention!

(For those of you that love display board pictures, check back tomorrow when I’m allowed to officially post pictures Winking smile)

We went off to a group dinner and stamping with some friends and then soon it was 6pm and time for Convention bag pick up and the Paper Pumpkin Night Out party!  As you can see, a lot of people were excited to get their convention bag.

I got in and out of line 3 times over the course of the evening but turns out the “B” line or “A/B” line (since we were picking up based on our last name) was a popular one this year. Smile

    Rich Jutkins convention bag stuffing

Something fun to see… Rich Jutkins (the President of Stampin’ Up) and Sara Douglas and her family all were helping get bags and supplies put together for use!  It’s not everyday you see executives for a company getting down and dirty helping serve the rank & file.  And this is one of the many reasons why we love them!

Then it was off to the party with lots of cookies and cake treats, a make & take featuring the September 2014 Paper Pumpkin kit, prizes, and a couple displays (though the lighting was terrible for photos).

I’m so grateful to be able to attend many of the Stampin’ Up events and thought it was so cool to get a chance to hang out for a few minutes with Stampin’ Up home office staff and stamper extrordinaire – Shannon West – and the oh so sweet Andrea Withers who has been the coordinator for all my Convention Display Board activities this year!  <3 them!

And eventually I got my bag and all the goodies it contained (stamps and supplies for this weekends crafting projects, including NEW sneak peek stuff!!)

The Convention bag this year is actually a nice bag that is perfectly sized for tablets (or a few stamp cases as I discovered).  It isn’t huge, but that is probably a good thing for me! Have you seen how full I stuff my bags??! Smile

These aren’t all the photos I took, these photos and more are up on my Facebook Page and I’ll be sharing more over the next few days while I’m out and about the conference and then posting many of them at night.  So, make sure you have liked my page to get all the updates!

Ok, and now I REALLY need to get some sleep.  My alarm goes off in 3 hrs!

  • Founder’s Circle 2013 Day 3–Making stamps and more!

Yesterday was another busy day out here in St. George for Founder’s Circle.  It is all I can do to take it all in and not only soak up the experiences but also try to figure out how I can use this time to better focus & make sure I have the right perspective for my stamping business.

I also have been trying to find ways to use my time and exposure to some of the Stampin’ Up! corporate team to help share the feelings, needs, and opinions of my customers and fellow demonstrators who may not be in the top 100 in the company but are just wanting to enjoy the Stampin’ Up! experience and begin to build a fun business that makes them happy, fufilled, and makes money to boot!  This is just such a powerful thing to be able to create amazing things and share that experience and heartfelt feelings with others.

If you can’t tell, coming to Founder’s Circle has turned out to be a more powerful and emotional experience than I expected!

Anyway, I’m sure you are here for the pictures, so let me share a bit of what Day 3 was like!

So, we started out bright and early to do a 90 min drive to Kanab, UT where Stampin’ Up! has their manufacturing facility.  When we arrived, there were employees waiting for us outside with signs and amazing smiling faces.

Stampin up kanab facility tour founders circle 2013

On of the other demos commented that one of the heartwarming parts for her was the Kanab employees cheering for us when we arrived.  It felt great, but I have to say I felt like we ought to be cheering for them! Smile  They are the ones making and packaging the products we love and I am so grateful they love doing it because I love using everything!

Once inside we got to do Make & Takes, visit the Gardner apartment, and take a tour of the facility.

I was so greatful for the kind Josee Smuck who adopted me for the day and made sure I always had friends to hang out with.  So, I hung out a lot with some fabulous Canadian Demonstrators.

The Gardner apartment is a good sized apartment above the facility for when Shelli and her family are visiting Kanab, or if any of the home office employees are traveling to Kanab, they can stay here as well.  It was the cutest!

And while Shelli couldn’t be here due to her injury, Sara Douglas (her daughter and up-and-coming face for Stampin’ Up!) was here and always so open and willing to chat about just about anything!

Then our tour for making stamps, ink pads, ink refills and paper!

Fun Fact – To make an ink pad, they start with the foam bases and then dump 100 of them into a big mixing bowl.  Then they pour in the ink liquid and then put it in a big mixer… like your Kitchen Aid mixer at home!  Mix for 2 minutes and you have an inked pad!

I took so many pictures of the manufacturing processes that I’ll be creating another post to share that experience another time.

Then we had a delicious BBQ lunch and then were off to a nearby park where many of the rubber scrap pieces have been chopped up and used for mulch under the play structures.

Stampin up rubber chips parkJennifer blomquist raining stamp rubberimpressed rubber from stampin up rubber park

You can even see some stamp impressions still in the rubber!

Then it was back on the bus for a brief shopping stop and then the 90 minute drive back to Kanab.  We had a brainstorming session on the way to Kanab and so the way back was all about fun and prizes!  We played Bingo and I won Talking Tags (which I had totally forgotten we had!)

Founders Circle 2013 kanab bus bingo prizes

All of this took most of the day and by the time we got back to the hotel, we had just a little bit of time to freshen up and grab dinner before the optional theater excursion to Tuacahn.

I originally hadn’t signed up to go to the show (Mary Poppins) but everyone kept telling me how amazing the theater was that I just had to find a ticket and go.

    Founders circle 2013 tuacahn amphatheater

They were right!  The experience was so different and so cool from what you typically see at the big theaters at home.  Plus, they could even shoot off fireworks during the performance to add to the emersive effect!

We got back to our hotel rooms around midnight and I was completely toast.  But there was another adorable pillow gift waiting for us.

I hadn’t checked a bag on the way here but its looking like I’m going to be checking a bag home!  I don’t have these Stampin’ Up! craft scissors but I’ve been wanting to get some for a while.  So there is NO WAY I’m going to leave them here, so looks like I’m checking a bag home. Smile

Now its time to take more project pictures, finish my Founder’s Circle make & takes, and get ready for our last big (surprise) event tonight.  So, until then, have a great day!

Don’t forget! Founder’s Circle Specials this week!
