Pop-out Swing Card with Sheltering Tree

This summer I did a Fun Folds Cards Class and one of the cards I just had to share was this awesome Pop-out Swing Card design.  I originally saw it shared by Julie Davison and then found some fun card ideas before settling on this design:

It looks like a normal card when it is closed flat on the table or sitting in the envelope, but as soon as you open it by pulling on the ribbon tab, you get a whole new fun look as the front swings open like a window and you get a cool pop-out effect from the inside!

It is actually really easy to do as you just create a “Z fold” for your inside piece of cardstock, and you cut out a shape from the front of your card and adhere that cut out shape to the “Z fold” paper on the inside!  I also loved the color combination:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Island Indigo, and Pear PIzzazz.  Don’t they just look pretty together?

We used Sheltering Tree to create the front scene as well as some of the fun inner design.  Bonus – you still have room to write on any of the white spaces and they will be hidden when the card is closed… so you have lots of places to write your note!

The outside was the amazing Hardwood stamp set and the sentiment from the Crazy About You stamp set.  But I just loved the added touch of the White Perfect Accents!  It is just the right touch of something without getting in the way of everything else going on in the card.  Don’t you think?

If you are curious, here are all the cards we made in that Fun Folds class and I still have the tutorials available for only $3.95 if you want a PDF set of instructions for all 3 cards!
